I hope you can update it to work with left hand equipped staves. It only works when the staff is held in the right hand

From what I can tell, the spell conditions only work on the right hand. I'll look into it when I got some time but can't promise anything.

thanks! I use Inquisitor which is still in beta so sometimes it glitches out and I can't cast spells with the left hand

I haven't had a chance to test it yet but in xedit you can set the condition for either left or right hand so I duplicated it and set it to "or" for both.

I just made the same changes and tested it in my game. It works perfectly.

it would also be cool if just by holding the staff in combat it would automatically cast a flesh spell based on your skill in alteration, so it has the potential of becoming stronger while you get stronger within that skill tree, or perhaps it could be just a perk in the skill tree to choose.

Hit me up once you made that, sounds like an interesting idea.

unlike you, i lack the skill to do this, but what i am good at is coming up with ideas as i never seem to run out of these.

there's a world of differences between 'giving a buff while holding a staff' and 'letting a staff track your skill level and auto-cast a spell'
Like, it's not even close. Apocalypse spells has a spell that auto-casts but even that is way too different to use for a staff.

it's oky mate, i thought it might be easy, but i was wrong. though i do wonder how the smart cast mod does this.

A mod called 'Smart Cast' can be configured to achieve this, amongst many other affects with various conditions as triggers.

Hello and thank you for this mod :)

here are some small (but maybe not easy to do) suggestions

    1) the possibility to choose ( via a .ini or mcm ) the hand of the mage who holds the stick ( according to what I saw from my test the bonus is applied only if the stick is held by the right hand )

    2) the possibility to choose an increase of the magic regeneration rather than the raw magic points ( again via an .ini or mcm, I'll have a preference for mcm ;) )

thank you for reading me and again for this mod ( mod endorsed + tracked ^^ )

This is a great idea, but the main reason I avoid using staves as a mage is that casting spells with them does not develop the relevant skill (destruction, conjuration, etc.)  Is there any way to create a version of this mod that accomplishes that as well?

Scrambled Bugs has a setting that enables exactly that.
there's also Staves Give XP that does it.

Is your mod compatible with Staves Give XP?

yes i use it as well. My staff mod doesn't alter any vanilla record, so it's pretty much compatible with any staff mod

Makes staves way more useful and I always thought it would make sense that a magic staff should give you more magicka. Glad this is ESL and I'm gonna try this out. Thank you ! :D

    Does it work on NPCs

It should work if the game can apply the condition to NPCs as well. I rarely play with followers so I haven't tested that.

Nice, I like this idea. Finally makes staves have a purpose. :)

It isn't much but I felt like something like that was missing with every staff/perk overhaul I used. :)

Wonderful idea. I was trying to make something similar, but life comes in between.

I always thought that the staves are a power conduit for mages.

So here is Just a idea for you.

    Staff of xy
    Tier1: your staff
    Tier 2: above + magicka reg x%
Tier 3: above + Gives +x to destruction (any other school) or x% magnitude to spells
Tier 4: I'm the arch mage...
    Tier 5: I'm a Avatar of Magnus...
(Tier 4 and 5 are just ironic...)

Goal is to reach the amount of a double hand spell with a staff. Nothing to op, just a power conduit.
