Hello, I am using 3.0.5 of this mod on the install I chose the ADXP/MCO patch. I planned to convert it to BFCO, but I cannot seem to find the folder where the animations should be. I see some .Json files say keyword katana equip right hand. So, did her combat get converted OAR?
I should've just used her first, before asking. I am using BFCO and she seems to be using her custom animations just fine. I see her animations/moveset in OAR. I haven't opened them to check any keywords, but they seem to be working just fine. No crashes or weird jerky animations or T poses. Thanks for your reply. By the way, thanks for your work. Her quest is really fun, and she is fun to have around. I haven't unlocked shale yet, but Megara is really fun to have around as well and a good team member. There's a lot to this mod, much bigger than I anticipated. I see a lot of people these days are making true companions and not just random folks to meet at an inn. It reminds me of other games such as final fantasy when your team members have Indepth side quest worth playing. Thanks.
Yeah, I felt that whole show was friendship breaking. Katana spells out interest, drags the dragonborn up a mountain and then just about laughs in their face. It's weird and fourth wall breaking.
Replying to you since yours is the only comment I found about this.
FYI there are multiple opportunities to choose the "sugar" route but you guys still continued to choose the intentionally "weird" path. The nuts quest alone should've shown that this mod has both jokes and more serious tones. Anyway, for the "spice" path, they say you can't just say you want someone, then boom, they're yours. That's weird/fucked up? It's really not. I'm not in the mood to argue, and it's just a mod. Play it or don't. This isn't the first time we've seen this behavior, and it continues to prove our point, really. Take care.
It's very funny how you guys call yourselves out ngl, by 'criticizing' about exactly this.
'Dragging ur Dragonborn up the mountain?' Seriously? You literally picked that option. Also 'interest'? If you've actually played the mod, Katana is very much involved with Megara, and only Megara(fun fact: Megara is also Katana's irl partner, in which this mod is also a 'love tribute' to, and you are not that partner).
I have played through the Sugar & Spice quest (picking the weird option cause it would be funny). - Katana is very much obviously (I don't understand how people think this was genuine) messing with the player, even 'breaking up with Megara' was hilarious. HOW do you not see that. - I've seen weirdos call this 'gaslighting' - like bro be for real, that's crazy gaslight back. Educate yourself what gaslighting actually is.
If you constantly pick these weird options consistently, here's what will actually happen if anyone is interested:
Spoiler:
Show
After you get in bed (and dragging ur ahh up the mountain ig), Katana simply (very mild btw, I'd throw hands personally) lets you know that 'you cannot expect to get someone, when you say you want someone' - following up with Megara literally saying 'but don't worry, we still very much like and appreciate you!'. And STILL continues to be friendly with you.
Anyways, that's the uh 'f_cked up' aspect of the quest, if anyone else was concerned about their feelings being hurt.
Also the guy who just commented too about 'not wanting to be educated on women's desires' following up literally with a 'not taking no for an answer' are exactly the type of people this quest was tailored to AND is supposed to call out. Honestly, reflect on yourself sometimes - it is hella concerning behaviour.
It's cool. I know it's a mod it and I certainly didn't come here to argue, since my reply was not aimed at anyone other than monyong7. Now the following things I'll write are because I got lumped with "you guys"and called a mf.
I didn't do this mod's quests one after another and I change followers all the time. It often takes me days to get back to certain followers. its not hard for someone to not follow the narrative along as one straight script. Isn't Skyrim famous for people wandering off for hours?.
I dig through all quest options and save scum a lot (I took months to finish BG3) and I didn't even think about romance with either follower until I clicked on the start quest dialogue and one of those options has Katana spell out something like "I. Want. You." - That's where I got the idea that a romance was available - so I followed the dialogue on, all the way to that prank on the mountain. Yes it was strange from the start. What about it? I've played plenty of games and mods that make little sense either by purpose or because I didn't get it. I even sometimes have to watch a movie twice to really get it, mf that I am.
I don't expect saying something would make an object mine, much less a person. I doubt even if I was born a king in the 17th century would make me think that. This lesson might be needed for some people, but to me it felt belittling for my dragoborn, and so I came here, where I replied to someone who isn't AnnAccident or pentapox... again, without the desire to argue.
theannagarcia: I have no idea how hard it must be to be a content creator and how many uncalled complaints and god knows what else you must get as one. It is perfectly valid for you to make this quest like this and I did not come here to attempt to bother you. That's not what I wrote wrote with my first reply, not with my flawed perception at least.
@ibstrd I totally agree with you. My post was deleted, apparently. Beside complimenting the mod on other aspects, I just expressed that me too, in every game I play, like to explore multiple outcomes. It's totally fine if a NPC is not interested in the character. I don't even understand where did they get the impression that this is the issue. The gaslighting and how the Dunmer is portrayed, straight male that doesn't take "no" for an answer, are.
@pentapox no, we were waiting for "pentapox" on the Nexus to completely miss the point but remind us what that friendship exists. Thanks.
lbstrd, the quest you described as friendship-damaging was meant to reflect that exact idea: that friendships can fracture when someone pushes for more, especially when it’s clear the other person is already in a committed, monogamous relationship. Honestly, the friendship should’ve been damaged the moment the player said "I want you", but we still chose to have Katana and Megara reaffirm how much they platonically adore the player by the end of the quest because they do.
ShinraOmega, you’re trying to reframe your original post as neutral feedback that was simply misunderstood, but that’s not what happened. The tone you used was dismissive, sarcastic, and mocking. It didn’t read like someone exploring narrative paths or offering thoughtful feedback. Instead, you made a direct, derisive comment about “not needing to be educated on respecting a woman’s desire," called a character a "dumb Dunmer that doesn’t take no for an answer," and then immediately shifted to complaining about "gay romance served on a silver plate” and being “sorry for playing a straight man, I guess?"
None of that reads as constructive or even useful feedback. Mocking the mod for not being written to your exact preferences or for including romance elements that don’t cater specifically to the straight male character you were playing, is far from constructive, far from useful, and simply misses the point of the mod completely. And that "dumb Dunmer," as you put it, was written intentionally that way, not to glorify bad behavior, but to comment on it with humor.
And let’s not overlook your complaint about "serving gay romance on a silver platter," as if the mere presence of same-sex interactions was some kind of personal slight. Katana and Megara are together. We tried to make that clear without turning the entire mod into a giant flag-waving moment about it, because while they're together, that’s not what the mod is about.
As for Shale, you don’t have to flirt with him. While he expresses interest in the player regardless of gender, there’s no full romance arc. You can easily toggle his interest off, and he’ll only flirt if you initiate it through specific dialogue. Yes, the mod includes same-sex attraction and relationships, but the way you framed that, as though its inclusion was somehow intrusive or inappropriate, says more about your discomfort than our intent.
Also, calling the mod "gaslighting" because a scene didn’t go the way you wanted it to is a real stretch. Emotional storytelling and morally complex characters are part of what makes RPGs interesting. That term means something real and serious, and using it this way just doesn’t fit.
I do want to say that neither Anna nor I deleted your original comment. If it was deleted, that was done by Nexus, not because you had an opinion, but likely because of how you expressed it.
You're absolutely allowed to dislike a quest, a character, or even the entire mod. But when your feedback stops being constructive (or never was) and starts targeting the creators, their intent, the inclusion of gay characters, or the fact that the female characters weren't created to be romanceable, it’s no longer about the mod. It’s about your discomfort with inclusive storytelling and not getting what you wanted.
And honestly? That’s the kind of response we expected, and exactly why we wrote those quests the way we did. Especially after repeated complaints to make Katana and Megara romanceable, when it was always clear that wasn't why we made this mod. They weren’t written for that. They were written to be your friends who go on your adventures with you.
If the mod isn’t for you, that’s perfectly fine. Not everything has to be made to suit your preferences.
Explaining your motivation and including a few compliments doesn’t make what you said constructive or change the way you chose to express your opinion.
I literally don't see how your comment could be anything but "I'm mad that I can't romance the women but I can romance the men cos I as a straight dude should get straight dude romance options". There's no gaslighting, you were never going to romance anyone in this mod, Shale included. If you think that devalues the moments shared with Katana and Megara throughout the course of the mod, that's down on you for how you view friendship compared to romance.
And honestly, if you're mad that ONE of the several male characters in this mod is a misogynist who can't take no for an answer, that's on you for being offended over f*#@ing nothing. He's literally called Chadryn and is a caricature of a more and more common stereotype of men.
@pentapox somehow I'm not surprised you'd think that, since you come with an answer without reading the question. Where, pray tell, did I complain about not being able to romance an NPC in this mod? Actually nevermind, this conversation wouldn't bring us anywhere, unfortunately.
I didn't mean to criticize anyone here, constructively or otherwise. There is a lot of "lore" about this mod and the creators that I've no knowledge about or right to comment on. Even the description was beyond me since I got this from a mod list.
I definitely do not have an issue with inclusion, gay characters or followers not being open to romance. My own dragonborn isn't even straight or a male and I will reiterate that Katana and Megara being a thing is not something that I knew. In fact, them being a couple was revealed to me during this quest itself. My way of playing, my short time with them as followers and/or my own lack of perception, like I tried to explain on my last post, led me to see the quest like I did.
I am sorry that you guys get unfairly criticized about your mod so much and that I ended up looking like a part of that.
I dismissed katana and megara and for an unknown reason I can't invite them back to the party the only reaction i have for them is some random dialogue like "hey" or "tell me everything I missed" with just no dialogue option. It seems that other users have the same issue but I couldn't find any solution in the comment section. Any ideas? (I use the modlist Lorerim)
If you're not updating yet, I suppose do the following (the other person's message that you replied to doesn't apply to you btw, that's why the command didn't work): - Open up console - Select Katana - type addtofaction currentfollowerfaction 1, press enter - type set ak69katanarecruited to 1, press enter - Select Megara - type addtofaction currentfollowerfaction 1, press enter - type set ak69megararecruited to 1, press enter.
When I dismissed Katana and Megara, talking to them again doesn't give me any dialogue options. I can't recruit them anymore. Shale still works after dismissing them though.
Weird thing is I know this was working properly before, and I didn't change any mods at all. I can work around it by just having them "relax" forever at my player home and never dismissing them formally, but I'm not sure if that will break anything.
I do know that before I took them out recently and found out I can't dismiss them, they were "relaxing" at my home for a few weeks, but I don't know if that would break anything. I just found it more convenient to relax them than dismiss them so I would still have the "Katana is here" in my log in case she goes missing.
No, not in that case because you chose the skip option to get Shale directly. I think it's a vanilla bug if you leave a companion in a relaxed state for a while. In that case, try the following: Open up the console and type getglobalvalue ak69katanarelax just to get started. If you get 1, type set ak69katanarelax to 0.
You can use her feather to track her or summon her with the summon spell. And Kilerth's Rest should have a marker if the quest is active. Hope that helps!
Was on Sugar and Spice - needed to take Katana to the bridge in Solitude, so off we go. We get there and nothing. Try to "E" Katana, just says this person is busy, scene never started or completed. So I reload game, same thing happens again. Read the notes that the discussion is different if Megara is there. So, we go her and back to the bridge the 3 of us go and this time the scene plays out as it should.
Guess Katana really wanted Megara with her. In the friend zone (Sugar) and that's OK. Great mod and characters so far, really enjoying it.
When I eventually check -- is there a Solitude overhaul on your list, and which patches from the FOMOD were applied? And I'm curious, from versions 3.0.3 to 3.0.5, is this one playthrough?
First of all I want to tell you i really enjoy your mod (i'm doing my first attempt right now and finished chasing the current), katana and megara are really funny and i like to explore with them.
However i ran into a small issue (nothing really bad ), i asked megara if she had a bounty after recruiting her at the drunken huntsman but when i got to the place where the bandit is supposed to be, he's already dead (because i have some mods that had creatures everywhere and he got unlucky enough to spawn in one of those location).
So now i'm left with is corpse and i can't complete the bounty (i tried some command like resurrect and disable/enable), is there a quest stage or a workaround i could do to at least end this quest ?
Thank you in advance and for the great work you've done for the community through this mod !
Greetings, I've been enjoying traveling with Katana so far, however I encountered a strange issue while doing some of the Legacy of the Dragonborn mod with her, after going into one of the rooms of the gallery I start getting this message over and over no matter where I went after:
"The door's magical barrier is keeping me out. Maybe it will open for Katana? I should talk to her."
I tried talking to Katana but there's no dialogue about such thing, I wonder if there's a way to fix this? Cheers!
Hi, I haven't seen anyone report that in a very long time. But in any case: The solution back then was to just finish the rest of Chasing the Current (go to the location mentioned in your objectives). Hope that helps!
That did the trick, thank you! I'm not sure what triggered to be honest, reloading a save before it started happening gave me different results, it happened again but at a different time and location.
Either way completing the quest fixed the problem, cheers!

New game needed if you had an older version of Katana. 3.0x to 3.0.5 is save-safe.
DO NOT use ReSaver to clean your 2.0.6 save to play the new update.
Outdated replacer and translation mods WILL cause issues.
Versions older than 3.0 will no longer be supported in the comments.
Think you caught a bug? Please address the possible issue(s) in the comments.
AN INTERVIEW WITH THE CAST OF THE MOD:
If you couldn't progress ANY quest (not just this mod's) due to whatever reason:

...to find the various steps of a quest.- Then type:
setstage questID ##
...to whatever stage may make sense.Replying to you since yours is the only comment I found about this.

You're using an older version and that's already been fixed. :)
