Alternate ESP-FE Plugin Available I just uploaded an alternate ESP-FE file- it is identical to the first file (Skyrim.esm has been added as a Master) AND I have ESLified it for those of you who don't use Vortex with its astonishingly handy "Could be light" flags and "Make light" button to instantly ESLify any eligible plugin. This means that SkyUI will no longer take up one of the 254 plugin slots in your load order if you use this option.
I have tested this ESL-flagged plugin in 3 of my over-400-mod load orders over the past year and a half and it works perfectly. However, there is always a risk that an ESL-flagged ESP will not always work as expected in all of the millions of possible mod combinations "out there." If the ESL-flagged version gives you any problems, simply uninstall it and install the regular ESP version, then load a save from before you installed the ESLified plugin* and continue your game.
*There is a chance you could just uninstall the ESified version, install the non-ESLified version and continue on from the savegame from which you deleted the ESLified version. However, due to the way Skyrim handles savegames, this is risky since your savegames contain the addresses of every mod you have ever installed on that particular save chain. Removing a plugin from the FE space and replacing it with the same plugin in the 254-slot normal space could create an issue in your savegame that could bite you at any time- today, tomorrow, next year, or maybe even never. But the safest thing is to do as I suggested above if the ESLified plugin gives you any problems.
Because people seem to be having issues installing SKSE64 correctly, and understanding why the way they launch the game matters, I'm posting the following information here even though this mod will fix only one of many possible issues.
Installing SKSE64

*********************************************************************** Vortex versions 1.2.12 and above will install SKSE64 for you automatically via a new extension. Follow the instructions in this video:
If you are not using Vortex, the best option is to import the 7z archive into your mod manager. Manual installation is the least desirable because it does not facilitate updating or cleanly uninstalling SKSE64 when it updates.
1. Select the correct version of SKSE64 for your SSE or SAE Game version Game / SKSE64 1.6.353/ 2.1.5* Recompiled "AE" 1.6.342/ 2.1.4* Recompiled "AE" 1.6.323/ 2.1.3* Recompiled "AE" 1.6.318/ 2.1.2* Recompiled "AE" 1.5.97 / 2.0.20** Last SSE Version released 11/2019 1.5.97 / 2.0.19** 1.5.97 / 2.0.17 1.5.80 / 2.0.16 1.5.73 / 2.0.15 1.5.62 / 2.0.12 1.5.53 / 2.0.10 1.5.50 / 2.0.8 1.5.39 / 2.0.7 1.5.23 / 2.0.6 1.5.16 / 2.0.5 1.5.03 / 2.0.4

**NOTE 2: Several users, including me, have experienced a CTD on load with SKSE64 2.0.19, and one or more of my SKSE-dependent mods had not been updated to work with 2.0.20 or the Address Library the last time I checked. If you experience CTD on Load, reverting to SKSE64 2.0.17 is likely to fix it.
2. Save the downloaded SKSE64 7z archive anywhere you can easily find again, such as your desktop
3. Open the extracted SKSE64 folder in your File Manager (double-click it)
4. Double-click to open the archive's folder named the same as the archive itself- "skse64_2_00_xx" where "xx" is the last 2 digits of the version number
*********************************************************************** If there is already a "Data" folder visible in the extracted archive, skip to Step 8 ***********************************************************************
5. Right-Click and select "New" and "Folder." Name the new folder "Data."
6. Move (Drag & Drop) the archive's existing "Scripts" folder into the new "Data" folder
7. Ignore the "src" folder and the 2 txt files and multi-select (Ctrl+Click) the Data folder and 3 files - two dll's and one exe - and Copy them (Ctrl+C)
8. Navigate to your Skyrim Special Edition folder where SkyrimSE.exe is
9. Paste the Data folder and 3 files you copied above into the game folder
10. Authorize any Folder Merges and Overwrites

Either create a "SSE via SKSE" executable in your mod manager or Right-click the new copy of skse_loader.exe in your Skyrim Special Edition folder, Select "Send to" then "Desktop (create shortcut)"
Manually launch Steam (if it is not already running) using the Steam shortcut >>>NOT<<< skse64_loader.exe.
With Steam already running, double-click your new skse_loader.exe shortcut to launch SSE
Later, when Vortex tells you there have been external changes and asks for guidance, be sure to select "Save All Changes" so Vortex does not undo what you just did
Never again use the Mod handler of the vanilla game launcher because it will disable SkyUI_SE*
Always and forevermore make sure Steam is already running before you launch SSE via skse64_loader.exe
@LawLeewer: Thanks for that! I went there and confirmed what you said, then left a post asking why SkyUI is blacklisted even though Vortex, SSEEdit and Wrye Bash say it "could be light." Then I went to AFK Mods and found the eslify page and left the same question there. Here is the response, from none other than Arthmoor himself:
Based on that, I'm leaving the eslified plugin available here.
Thank you for this! I am guilty of having inadvertently clicked on skse prior to signing-in to Steam. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about this being an issue. By the way, I really like the outfit in your screenshot. Could you tell me where you found it?

What's issue this mod fixed in your game? I have been using the SkyUI without having Skyrim.esm as Master. and my game is functioning normal, and I don't meet any problem about this.
I'm getting a weird issue since the last upgrade with my items menu randomly being replaced with the last load screen image. All the other menus work fine. The menu is still there as I can play lucky dip to see what I get. But this only seems to kick when using a controller on my PC. being a left handed, old, arthritic gamer I find controller a lot easier than mouse and keyboard. Any suggestions?
If SkyUI is lagging / opening super slowly although SKSE was installed correctly, then control if (loadorder.txt &) plugins.txt is present in your Skyrim's [/AppData/Local/Skyrim Special Edition] prefix folder
( e.g.: /Steam/steamapps/compatdata/489830/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/AppData/Local/Skyrim Special Edition ).
If you are modding manually, then create plugins.txt & add *SkyUI_SE.esp
If you are using a mod manager (e.g. Vortex), then go to the mod manager's [/AppData/Local/Skyrim Special Edition] prefix folder
( e.g. Vortex installed through Heroic: /Heroic/Prefixes/Apps/default/Vortex Mod Manager/drive_c/users/saidox/AppData/Local/Skyrim Special Edition )
and create symlinks of the files you find there (loadorder.txt & plugins.txt) & drop them into your Skyrim's [/AppData/Local/Skyrim Special Edition] prefix folder.
I'm confused as to how I "overwrite" something with another in Vortex. Like, when there are file conflicts, you choose which one to load first, but you aren't overwriting one for another you keep both files.
Load a file last to overwrite another file when there is a conflict. The file loaded later takes effect, the first does not. Loose files overwrite files in bsa’s. Modding 101.
Sky UI isn't working for me at all issue. Even mods that don't have MCMs and thus shouldn't require Sky UI aren't working. I'm essentially stuck in vanilla. I can't even play because the mods I do have installed, even though they aren't working, are causing constant CTDs in Helgen Keep after Hadvar unties my hands and I take a few steps.
I'm getting desperate. I've reinstalled all my mods half a dozen times, reinstalled Skyrim almost 10 times and no matter what I do, the only thing I can get working is SKSE SE, which is useless without mods that work.
I probably did something wrong, but for some reason its not working with SkyUI. I downloaded it with Vortex, and the message "unresolved file conflicts" keeps popping up. I even followed the SkyUI-SE & SKSE64 Installation Guide
If you have an error saying there are unresolved file conflicts there’s a pretty good chance you have unresolved file conflicts. This mod should overwrite any other mod.
Not trying to raise a dead horse, but I have a question:
1. I have all of this installed and it is currently running super smooth. Here is the question: since the two mods I want are exclusive to beth.net and I have not found a way to get them otherwise, will this stop the disabling that was occurring or am I going to have to repeat the cycle of start game/get the updates for those 2 mods/shut down/re-enable/restart? Cause if this IS the answer based on what I’ve read prior to install, you are … I dunno, but it’s super duper awesome that’s for sure! 🙋♂️😊🤔🙏

Then you can try to install "Untarnished UI" on top of SkyUI. It solved my problem. Keep in mind to install the required mods / files also.
