The mod itself works great but the annoying part is; anytime I try transmuting an item, it loses all its armor rating stats. My dragonscale armor goes from 170 Armor Stat to about 50, This kinda render the mod a bit pointless
This mod works like a charm! Something like this should have been in the vanilla game from the start. PD: Have you considered adding support for honed metal? Neither weapons nor armor can be improved with blacksmiths.
It's actually been a while since I worked on this and I can't remember if I intended for weapons and armor to be improvable or if there was a technical limitation stopping that from happening. I'll look into it and let you know but if it's not a bug or limitation of the system I'm more than happy to add support.
Months late to this, I know, but I just happened to run into this very issue: transmuted items don't appear on the list at all when at a workbench or grindstone, and any improvements (or custom enchantments!) made to them beforehand also seem to disappear during the transmutation process.
Hello i have a problem, the button dont shows for me, i started the quest lost to the ages before installing the mod, and finished after installing it, the armor im trying to transmutate its an enchanted leather armor and the konahrik armor from the mod konahrik accoutrements, could you please help me?
Hi, I need some more information in order to figure out what's causing this. Can you tell me the two armors you were trying to transmute together? Your load order would also be helpful.
The armors were: - Blessed Paladin of Stendarr Armor for the enchant (from: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29841) - Templar Armor II for the look (from: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19805)
(Edit: I also tried giving Blessed Paladin of Stendarr the looks of the Replendent Armor from the mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17510 with same result. I'll be trying other stuff and update the edit).
Hi, just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget about you. I've just been a little too busy to take a look at your issue but I'm planning to have a closer look this week sometime :)
So, after few testing it looks like the invisible chest happens only when I try to bring the enchantment from the Blessed Stendarr Paladin armor to the other 2.The opposite process (keeping the look of the Stendarr armor) works perfectly so I guess it's not about differences with item slots. I thought it might be due to the "enchant" on the Blessed Armor (it's a non-disenchantable item) but I tried doing it on another armor and it worked perfectly.
So I'm aware just how late this reply is. I've finally gotten some time to look at this and I've figured out what the issue is. Basically the Templar Armor and Resplendent Armor sets are not compatible with this mod. I'm going to release an update in the next few days that will fix this and hopefully make it more clear when two armors can't be transmuted with each other. It was a combination of incompatibility and a weakness in my system for determining compatible armors.
That was my fear too, does it have to do with slots or other stuff? Also is your patch about making the transmute in question possible or is it not possible?
Once again almost a month later and this one is really stumping me. Even when I attempt to make the armors compatible with the mod they still seem to cause intermittent crashing/go invisible. I'm going to keep working on this and hopefully bring them into the mod but for now they refuse to work with me.
Hey, good news and bad news. Good news is I finally found out what's actually causing the problem and it's not an issue with my mod which means it won't require an update and you can fix it yourself.
Bad news, the problem is that the Templar Armor II (and Resplendant Armor) you were trying to use doesn't change with the players weight slider. Essentially this means when you put the meshes on the other armor with a character weight of less than 1 it will break the mesh and cause it to either - go invisible, freak out, crash your game - at random.
You have two options, you can either ask the creator of that armor mod to make his armor compatible with weight sliders, or you can do it yourself with OutfitStudio.
I'm working on some code that should prevent this situation from happening but it requires getting into the engine so it won't be done for a while as my C++ knowledge is limited.
I'm sorry this took me so long to figure out, but I do hope you enjoyed using the mod otherwise.
I was expecting that the issue was in the armors unfortunately. But thanks to your help I can see ways to work around that. I'm really grateful to you :)
just wanted to say that this is pretty genius. been using the mod "lighten heavy armor" before this but this seems much more simple. thanks for posting it !
Since I never tested how loading the mod after completing that quest affected it I can't recommend it. However, if it's working for you then I'm glad to hear it.
I couldn't find any information on it in the description, so maybe it's just not there, does it not work with non-armors? I'm playing a full Mage and so I'm only using clothes and when I put my enchanted Hoof in the power chest and a really cool looking Hood in the Appearance chest it says the chests require keys for a while, but the button doesn't become uncovered, and then when I look at the chests again I can retrieve my stuff.
Edit: I should clarify that I've never seen this hood I want to use as the appearance before, and it is enchanted. It doesn't appear in Radiant Raiment, but I don't have any mods that add new clothing.
Can you please let me know what the names of the two items are and send me a copy of your load order? I'm trying to make a few generic compatibility updates and this would help me decide if your use case is a bug or not. The system is supposed to work on clothing as well so it's odd that it's not working for your hood.
I did some digging, turns out the hood in question is from the Creation Club that comes free with AE. My load order is mostly JS Visuals stuff, but I also have OBIS, SkyUI, Imperious, some mods that add stuff to the Stones of Barenziah, other Visuals mods, and a Dark Brotherhood expansion called Your Choices Matter, as well as the obligatory Achievements enabler and Unofficial Skyrim Patch. The Hood and robes come specifically from the Necromantic Grimoire Creation
Ok, so I don't have AE but I do know someone who does so I can dig into why it's not working. Thanks for the info, I'll post an update as soon as I know something.
Hello, JU12000. I'm loving the idea of this mod. Would you consider making a version which can:
...when a vanilla enchanted item is placed in the "Transmutation Dispenser" produces a vanilla unenchanted item in one of the receptacles, even though it wouldn't teach the PC the enchantment? Why would I want that? "Oh cool an ebony sword! I'll give that to (insert favorite follower name here)... oh wait, it has a lame enchantment on it. I could put a much better enchantment on it if only..."
...when two enchanted items are placed in the receptacles, the resultant item is the one that was placed in the "Transmutation Appearance Receptacle" but now with both enchantments? I realize how unbalanced that is, but some of us enjoy that playstyle.
Anyway, thanks for a truly intriguing mod, and also thank you for considering.
Hi, thanks for the feedback I really appreciate it.
I'll look around for a mod that fits the description of your first idea, but If I don't find one that definitely seems like something I'd like to tackle. I'm thinking that would be better suited as something that could be done at any enchanting table.
As for your second idea. I can look into whether it's possible but my gut is telling me I wouldn't be able to add it due to limitations in the way Enchantments are set up in the code. I'll still double check and get back to you though!
Looking some more it seems like https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/57207 accomplishes what your first suggestion was. If you don't agree I'm still more than willing to create that mod for you.
*facepalm* Ok, why the **** didn't this come up when I searched for it?! To make me look like an idiot, that's why. I apologize, and swear I did look for this, but apparently, I didn't look hard enough. Thank you, the mod you refer to not only does disenchant vanilla items, it contains a link to another mod that disenchants player enchanted items which I didn't even think would be possible. So, thank you for that, and my apologies for wasting your time with a foolish request.
As for the second request, you can disregard that as well; I realize that if I have the first, I can use other mods I already have to accomplish the second. So, again, my apologies.
Unless of course, you want to do either or both requests anyway, for the challenge or for the satisfaction of making your mod just that much more awesome. Thank you, again.

I have AE, don't know if this might be a problem.

I am trying too different stuff with the armors at play in order to find a possible cause.
