Can someone summarize what's wrong with this mod? Since the permissions are open I figure I'd take a jab at making a cleaned up patch. Probably more minimalistic and cut down version than the authors original intentions, but without issues at least.
Is anything wrong with this mod? I use it in large load orders and it seems to behave just fine. There are a few minor defects logged, but I have not seen them ever effect my actual gameplay. And there are not a lot of conflicts if any, because even today forts aren’t given a lot of love by other mods. The mod seems functionally fine to me.
That said, while I think the original author had a better design sense than most (I love the mods), they didn’t seem to gold-plate the technical aspects (from my experience with Solitude Docks and the few defects noted here). I’m sure there’s still mop-up to do, and the mod deserves it. Really great mod.
One idea, from appearances, is to make the mod always use a user’s preferred texture replacers. It looks like e.g. the Whiterun thatch roofs aren’t. (But I haven’t done the troubleshooting myself.)
I haven’t tried to be a QA completist with this mod. Other folks have itemized small issues here. I just wanted to pipe up for the mod lest anyone get the wrong impression. It’s already underrated. I’d hate to see it truly abandoned.
There is a large split in the land outside the fort running diagonally from the siege tower to one of the fort's towers. Oops I figured it out. I had this mod's plugin deployed before Landscape Fixes for Grass Mods. Don't do that or you will get a big hole in the ground.
One of the forts has a missing wall section due to this mod, the one near Helgen you visit as part of the Stormcloak side of the civil war. Fort Neugrad.
it could be a havok bug, maybe it happens because of this mod but maybe it is because of a mesh that has improper collisions and an actor enters it's box
Fort Greenwall is the one near Riften and Shor's stone. Could be caused by mixed ownership? Fort Neugrad is the one near Helgen, I also had missing walls at Neugrad until I cleared out the interior cells of bandits.. Just double check all rooms have no enemies.
Forts are still populated by bandits for me. The architecture is there, but no army. Though i did not start Civil war yet, so may be for this reason. Some knows ? Thx
It doesn't change the vanilla system of the forts being populated by bandits first, which only get swaped out automatically if you have a civil war siege going on. Otherwise you still need to clear out the first occupants for Stormcloaks or Legion to appear.

Disregard earlier comment about thatch roof textures. My fault, fixed by replacing Better Dynamic Snow w with Simplicity of Snow.
Edit: also a patch for Northern Roads.
