"I recorded my own katana" ~ I'll download simply because of this haha!
But seriously, very nice mod, thanks for publishing. I use a lot of katanas in my game as well, Katana Crafting, Fudou Myou, Mortal Blade etc. Would love to have your equip and unequip sound here just for katanas, do you think that's possible?
It is not. Blame Skyrim. If I knew a way to do that, I would've.
I knew I spelled it differently than the modder but I was too lazy to go check. I could only remember how it was spelled in the preface of one of the different translations of The Book of Five Rings I've read.
I have found a way to replace draw and sheathe sounds for specific weapons, including katanas. In Creation Kit, create a simple ESP/ESL that will load new sound records into your game. Give the sound records a useful EditorID name, like katanaDrawSound and katanaSheatheSound. The names are for human reference when looking up the FormID in SSEEdit. Attach a desired WAV file located in the Data\Sound file structure. Export the plugin as katana_sound_loader.esl, for example. Now using and following the guidance from the Sound Record Distributor mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/77815), create a JSON or YAML file with a "Weapons" entry that ties a specific weapon record to the sound record in your katana_sound_loader.esl. For example, a YAML might look like this:
Requirements: - katanas.esp #katana source mod - katana_sound_loader.esl #your sound mod Weapons: - Form: katanas.esp|000D67 #specific katana weapon from katana source mod Equip: katana_sound_loader.esl|000D62 #specific katana sound 1 from your mod Unequip: katana_sound_loader.esl|000D64 #specific katana sound 2 from your sound mod
Easy peasy. You can create patches like this for any sound and weapon effect, including equip, unequip, impact and the like.
I've already followed this procedure successfully using the sounds from this mod as a test. It worked.
Since the author has allowed use of this mod's assets, I can share my ESL packed with the sounds in the correct data\ folder and a sample YAML file. You'll have to install Sound Record Distributor (SRD) and all of its requirements. The only problem is that YAML file used by SRD requires knowledge of the katanas in your load order since it does not support keywords. It's not feasible for someone to do that for you, but my sampel YAML should give you a good headstart by including the katanas in my load order (or at least the ones I can remember). You can easily edit YAML with notepad, or notepad++. I'll share a link once I've posted everything.
quick question is this incompaptible with immersive sounds compedium some reason it still plays the default sword animations and i use katana crafting mod
Sounds awesome for a samurai playthrough. Now if there was a mod that added bonus damage for 1s after unsheathing you would have a reason to do draw strikes allll day.

Would you be willing to share your work by any chance?
Let me know if it works for you.

Also useful if you're ever menaced by an invisible Mrs Butterworth's bottle.
...But like I said. It should really work fine for all swords
Beats the schwiiiiiiiiing sound all day.
It sounds so real, like Ghost of Tsushima
I like the smooth sound better than the metal scraping sound, so I really like it!
Thank you!
(I accidentally double posted)
