About this mod

Spiderbros fixes and improves throwing spiders. It makes spiders more useful, adds several new spider types and catches a lot of bugs. It is entirely script free!

Features

Throwing spiders are the "smart bomb" of Skyrim: a rare, difficult to replenish resource to inflict burst damage and other effects. However, they are fairly bugged and so rare as to be unusable. Spiderbros makes them more accessible, more effective, and scale better.

This is version 0.1.0. Further updates may come based on feedback.

Obtaining your spiders

Spiders are created in the Imbuing Chamber at White Ridge Barrow.

You can also find spiders by using an Egg-Laying Spider on a living target, which generates more random spiders, or occasionally loot them in the place of gems.

For alternate sources of spiders, see the Spider Hunter perk in Vokrii - Minimalistic Perks of Skyrim, or place your Milestones from Odin - Skyrim Magic Overhaul or Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim near the Imbuing Chamber for easy access.

All spider types

Changes:

  • Fix many spiders being incorrectly considered Destruction spells despite gaining no bonuses.
  • Fix inconsistent naming.
  • Fix various incorrect visuals and sounds (frost explosions with fire blur, etc). 
  • Fix inconsistent descriptions.

Modified: Exploding spiders

Tosses a dead spider which explodes when an enemy gets too close, doing X damage to friend and foe.

Crafting:

  • Damaged Albino Spider Pod + Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Amethyst = 3 Exploding Spiders (6 if Flawless)

Stats:

  • Level 1-10: 50 elemental damage, or 7 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 10-20: 100 elemental damage, or 15 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 20-30: 150 elemental damage, or 22 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 30-40: 200 elemental damage, or 30 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 40-50: 250 elemental damage, or 37 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 50+: 300 elemental damage, or 45 poison damage for 10 seconds.

Changes:

  • Damage is slightly increased.
  • Damage is now pure elemental instead of being split between elemental and untyped damage.
  • Poison spiders now do more damage than other types but do their damage over time.
  • Fix Exploding Flame Spider dealing no burn damage.
  • Fix Exploding Shock Spider draining Stamina instead of Magicka.

Modified: Jumping spiders

Tosses a spider which jumps at enemies and explodes, doing X damage to friend and foe.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Amethyst = 3 Jumping Spiders (6 if Flawless)

Stats:

  • Level 1-10: 50 elemental damage, or 7 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 10-20: 100 elemental damage, or 15 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 20-30: 150 elemental damage, or 22 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 30-40: 200 elemental damage, or 30 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 40-50: 250 elemental damage, or 37 poison damage for 10 seconds.
  • Level 50+: 300 elemental damage, or 45 poison damage for 10 seconds.

Changes:

  • See exploding spiders.

Modified: Cloaking spiders

Tosses a spider on the ground that will cause X damage per second to enemies that get too close.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald/Amethyst + Salt Pile = 3 Cloaking Spiders (6 if Flawless)

Stats:

  • Level 1-10: 15 elemental or poison damage per second.
  • Level 10-20: 20 elemental or poison damage per second.
  • Level 20-30: 25 elemental or poison damage per second.
  • Level 30-40: 30 elemental or poison damage per second.
  • Level 40-50: 35 elemental or poison damage per second.
  • Level 50+: 40 elemental or poison damage per second.

Changes:

  • Now has a scaling 100-400 points of Health, based on character level.

Modified: Mind control spider

This spider is thrown over a large distance and forces creatures and people to fight for the caster for 30 seconds.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Soul Gem = 2 Mind Control Spiders

Changes:

  • Description now lists the correct duration.
  • Now creates 2 per recipe, up from 1.

Modified: Oil spider

Tosses a fragile spider that secretes a flammable oil when it feels threatened.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Dwarven Oil = 2 Oil Spiders

Changes:

  • No longer erroneously spawns a frost explosion at certain levels.
  • Now creates 2 per recipe, up from 1.

New: Paralysis spider

This spider attaches itself to a target, paralyzing for 10 seconds.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Vampire Dust = 1 Paralysis Spider

New: Egg-Laying spider

This spider attaches itself to a target for 10 seconds, slowing by X% and adding 3 random spiders on kill.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Spider Egg = 3 Egg-Laying Spiders

Stats:

  • Level 1-10: 15% slow.
  • Level 10-20: 20% slow.
  • Level 20-30: 25% slow.
  • Level 30-40: 30% slow.
  • Level 40-50: 35% slow.
  • Level 50+: 40% slow.

New: Seeking spider

Tosses a hunting spider that reveals enemy creatures and people through walls.

A spider that follows the user with a permanent Detect Life ability that only detects enemies. It has low health and flees from combat. Use this spider to set up Exploding Spider traps for revealed enemies.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Fly Amanita = 3 Seeking Spiders

New: Pack spider

Tosses a spider that can be used to haul items.  Only one can be active at a time.

This is a functional but unused spider in the vanilla game. Once spawned, it follows the user around, and can be given items to carry by activating it. If it dies, the items can be looted from its corpse. It flees from combat. Only one Pack Spider can exist at a time.

Crafting:

  • Albino Spider Pod + Bone Meal = 1 Pack Spider

New: Glowing spider

Tosses a glowing spider that will follow you around. Only one can be active at a time.

This is a functional but unused spider in the vanilla game. Once spawned, it follows the user around, emitting a bright yellow light that illuminates the user's surroundings in a large area, much bigger than the unused Glowing Spider. It has low health and flees from combat. Only one Glowing Spider can exist at a time.
