And more than a year later, I stumbled onto this page. Had I found it earlier, I would very much like to try, But now I am using this (new) mod DBVO, it would cause too much conflict without a patch.
The time period is the pretend second century of the imaginary 4th Era on a fictional planet. Since it isn't a real historical period, how someone would speak in the Fourth Era is however Bethesda says they would speak.
You're playing a game in a setting that has widespread literacy, printed books are common and affordable, people use forks to eat, tomatoes and potatoes are widely-eaten foods, gold coins are used in all transactions, full plate armor exists, Roman legions are out and about, Ice Age animals live in the wilds, and a stand-in for the East India Company has an official government charter. Changing the dialogue to fit what you heard on The Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones not only isn't historically accurate, it's the least of your worries if you're aiming for period-authentic medieval European immersion (never mind that the Middle Ages lasted for a non-static thousand years).
Dirk, who are you even speaking down to? The description you're quoting was itself quoted from the original description written by the original mod author; he didn't post this mod. This is a port by a completely different author.
Fam, I myself have been known to get super freaking pedantic, but this is a whole other level.
You're right, it's a fictional universe. As such, there's nothing to be "historically accurate" about. That said, the beauty of modding is that we can make the game whatever we want. You're not only choosing to rant about something you can just as easily ignore, but as someone else noted, the person uploading this conversion isn't even the one who made the mod, or wrote the description.
I think you could do with touching some grass for a bit.
Using the word cringe to describe how something made you feel says alot about you as an induvial. You cringed because someone took the time to share something that was created. You cringed because someone explained why the grammar was "Not" how someone would speak in a pretended time period.
Lets pretend that to that person he is 100% right and that the grammar could be updated as many times as he or she see fit to do so.
Feeling cringe because someone did or said something that you do like to a video game base in a medieval fictional time period says you have zero control over your feeelings.
You could have simply skipped over the button that says comment, logged out of the nexus, hit that start button at the bottom left-hand corner of your PC and select the option that says shut down. From there you could have got up and made yourself a nice peanutbutter and jelly sandwich, heavy on the peanut butter & light on the jelly. You could also match that with a nice glass of cow milk, breast milk, goat milk, or almond milk. Dunno but theres a bunch of options for milk.
I was going to suggest a glass of shut the hell up but thats not being nice to others, wouldn’t want you to cringe again.
And if you end up doing both of those things, you really shouldn't post comments on Nexus mods.

Anyway, thanks to someone who DM'ed me about this thing I vaguely remember posting yesterday, and I hope my experience helps other people avoid having my experience.
This entire thread is a prime example of "Well you aren't wrong, you're just an asshole" entire comment gives off an "I'm better than you" vibe and then acting like you "totally don't care and just got reminded of it" is cringe, just my take.
Aw, the spoiled entitled brat is upset over the concept of a mod in an ocean of mods that alter the game in ways that is disparate to the fictional world and Bethesda's artistic intent, and decided to reproach such intense unfounded grievances in the comment section of the conversion not even done by the original author.
You know, if you cared so much about this kind of thing, why not, for example, get off Nexus and just play vanilla? Nobody'd judge you, unlike right now. Or, perhaps, not use or comment on the mod at all, considering the changes it makes is clear as day if you bothered to look at the original mod's page. Some people, in fact, like having Old English styled responses, as to them it heightens their fantasy roleplaying experience.
Critique is acceptable, but you haven't critiqued the mod so much as you have shared your distaste for the mere idea and existence of it. How would you improve the mod without rejecting the idea entirely, Mr. High & Mighty?
Huh. Thanks for the port, I'll try it out in my next game. This is the sort of detail I tend to find interesting- if my current character weren't to well established to shift the patterns on, I'd load it now. Mostly for the too casual areas- about half of vanilla is fine, and the other half is overly contemporary.
How does this mod fare with More to Say? I know it has its own immersive dialogue options but I want to know if there's a conflict that I should be worried about.
Ahh screw it, I'll dip my toe in first. I'll let you guys know if I find anything unusual.
Doesn't seem to be any major incompatibilities, but the dialogue is not altered within the More to Say options. I would have expected as much considering that it's a separate .esp package.
It'd be great if someone could patch this and More to Say. But it's not really that different (like Khajiit Speak and Vanilla dialogue) so I don't know...
My favorite thing about the original mod page is the attention to regressing the grammar in the dialog to reflect an early modern linguistic era but then also the personal choice of character overhauls. That was a treat, but I'm glad you didn't decide to carry those over, too.
This isn't quite what I need for my current character, but I'm gonna download and endorse regardless just because of what I already said and also because this port existing made that other guy so tilted, which also was a treat.

The mod author asked, by presenting his pseudo-Shakespearian cringe as "how someone would speak in that time period."
Just don't read my comment.

Also, choosing to use terrible grammar and punctuation in hopes of more troll provocation!

Better yet, maybe just go away.
You really ought to speak to somebody man.

But you have to be careful that you don't put in way more bourbon than you realized, and that you don't also take Robitussin at the same time.

This will take on new life with the newly revived Text-to Speech mod. Going to be fun to try!
Cheers!
Never mind: I just checked and it's already ESLified!
