Have you taken a look at Scrambled Bugs's Poison Resistance patch? It allows to flag the resist values of certain poisons so that they aren't affected by Poison Resistance. I know you want to keep the main mod as simple as possible, but it could be a nice addition to the optional, no-resistance changes file so that the oils can still work on the appropriate targets without an editing of race records.
Actually that should work out of the box with the No Resistance Changes version! Thank you for reminding me about that tweak. I'll put that in the description of that file.
upon further inspection, i dont really see the need to patch these mods. Smithing Oils stands well enough on its own, and levels nicely next to CCOR and CACO. The only changes I could implement would be to crafting recipes, changing some of the ingredients used maybe. I still might make a sort of integration patch.
I have a question which may seem strange though… would it be straightforward or what are your thoughts on altering the mod to actually level with alchemy instead? Reason being is I love what effects you’ve created in the oils but do primarily want to play an alchemy based warrior. Thanks :)
I don't really recommend it, but it would be a simple swap. If you want it to level alchemy: In SEEEdit, open up Furniture and go to: "00OilToolsFurniture", and at the bottom under Workbench data change it from Smithing to Alchemy. (I have no idea how quickly or slowly this would level alchemy. It's not really meant to be leveled this way. Fair warning.) If you want the oils to just get stronger with your alchemy level: Go into the Perk category in SSEEdit and fine "SmithingOilsPerk". Under the first Effect, find the "Function Parameters" entry and change it from Smithing to Alchemy.
Glad you like the mod though! Thank you! I spent a loooong time getting the effects how I liked them.
Hey Sable, I just thought I'd let you know, Smithing Oils has taken over all Poisons in my Game (I only use Poisons anyway), my Alchemy is redundant, everything I use is Smithing Oils :)
Hello Sable :) ...I'm back :) ...still using and loving Smithing Oils, it's a permanent in my Load Order :) ...but now I must ask, i have been late to the AE party, refusing to upgrade, but now due to another Core Mod in my Game I must :( ...so just wanting to check with the most important Mods in my list (those I can no longer live without :)...)...is Smithing Oils compatible with AE?
This is great always felt a warrior has no place at an alchemists table cant wait to use this as i usually play through with little to no magic. Any chance i can esl the plugin to save space? Im trying to trim down my load order i got carried away since i just swicthed to SE from LE and realized this version can run a million mods lol
hey this is a great ider like you say with the warrior part, like i play a fighter with a two handed sword so this looks realy good and the pic's looks great nice lookin potions cant wait to try it out ty for the work and share
Is there any known conflict issues with Ordinator and/or Complete Alchemy and Cooking overhaul? I installed the mod and built the crafting kit but the only things that are appearing are the bottles, glass, and charcoal.
Hello Sable1 This is soo close to what I've been waiting for , playing as a mage this playthru or most playthru's , I use sneak tools that does a similar thing with arrows, but as a mage I was hoping someone would create an oil to do just your oils do, but have the ability to be thrown on ground / smash the glass bottle on the ground leaving a puddle for the enemy to walk thru and n be affected by it, .. From the screenshots, its " applies to weapon " , so I'm asking, might you do a throw-able / smashing / dropping on ground as well , once oils are smith'd ? ( for mages and spell casting with fire frost n such ) I did read the description and read the doc tab, quite a few goodies there the fire frost shock n caustic, would make nice throw-able or smash-able bottles ? Tracking always ...
I could be wrong, but i'm pretty sure there's a patch for CACO and Ordinator. I'd be surprised if there isn't, considering there's one for Vokrii (which I use)
There is also Throwing Weapons Lite: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4668 It's fun, some good bombs. I recommend not allowing npcs to have them or they will make dungeons a ragdoll hellscape. Also there was a missing texture ctd issue in the past so check the posts. I think it could be fixed by using the shiv replacer for throwing knives.
Gosh , I'm so glad when people leave links like, here;s another mod I didn't know about , and will give a whirl, and yes it does look like fun , so thanks BasketSmasher...

Definitely is fine with AE!

It allows you to quickly drop scrolls to activate them, like the idea of dropping a bottle
