The latest update to Honed Metal now includes the vast majority of items previously added by this patch.
Unless you use a mod that requires one of the handful of items still added to the new lists by this patch (some Hearthfire items, hawk loot, and soul gem pieces), you probably will not need a materials patch for Honed Metal going forward.
I'm considering making and sharing a new version of the patch following Eklapse's example (unless they intend to regularly maintain their patch going forward--the community doesn't need two, and that would be less work for me ) that will add any still unsupported but conceivably useful vanilla items to the new FormLists using SkyPatcher or FormList Manipulator instead, as well as adding support for CC and AE content and some popular or requested mods.
Most mod patches do not need updates just because the master updates, unless the patch is touching a large amount of records (i.e., changing a lot of things) or drastic changes were made to the master. So I wouldn't operate on that assumption if I were you in the future. This patch edits 1 record, so updating is not needed unless Sky makes changes to that 1 record.
But, since you couldn't tell me a reason, I went to go look myself. Based on glancing through the changelog, no changes were made to the contents of this 1 record, but the new optional plugin might need its own separate version of this patch due to a change of FormIDs, but only if there were enough unique forms in the plugin to require compression. I'll check.
If you use the regular updated ESP version [Honed Metal 1.24 Base], you should be fine.
@Zireael1251 Got cha, thanks for your detailed reply and now I see a reason Actually I'm using the esl version of Honed Metal and I'm looking forward to your appropriate updated patch, thanks in advance !
Graymane blacksmith didnt have a grandsoul gem in his inventory, but I had one. But when I was trying to order an item from him it didnt show up in the inventory. Other things like frost salts and stuff showed up but the grand soul gem didnt show up.
This patch only adds items to formlists in Honed Metal's ESP that blacksmith NPCs refer to for items you can pay them to acquire on their own (items not in your inventory). The patch doesn't do anything else, so any issues in the blacksmith's access to your own inventory is something you should comment about on the main mod page rather than here.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue- whenever I attempt to order an item from a vendor, it appears in my inventory as if I crafted it myself. This also includes enchanted items, which can't be disenchanted as I 'know the enchantment' (even though I don't). Tempering or recharging equipment causes the item to vanish forever, even when attempting to retrieve lost items in the MCM. I've got no mods that add new enchantments, just vanilla ones, and I can't figure out what's causing this- a potential script conflict somewhere, but there's nothing I can think of that'd get in the way of this functioning.
I have got Hide SkyUI which I'm sure I've read someone else say was a source of a similar issue, but for the life of me I can't find that comment anymore to ask for more info. Infuriatingly, this was installed and working fine alongside Hide SkyUI on my previous laptop with the exact same modlist before it blew up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Nothing to do with this patch, at the very least. This patch is just a light plugin adding some crafting materials to a list in the main plugin. It contains no scripts or anything else that could be the source of your issue. Best of luck!
Haha, was certain it's not this patch since it is a very small (but very welcome!) addition- I'm absolutely sure this is a script clash on the original mod when I'm ordering the item(s). Admittedly I'd accidentally put this comment on here thinking it was the original mod... Thanks so much for the well wishes!
Anybody on this page know what might cause Honed Metal mod to restrict you from adding/altering npcs to/in a crafting faction? A few months ago before I updated my modlist and skse version I added Sven to the enchanting class but now no npc will show up in the mcm menu
This is just an ESPFE patch for Honed Metal. It doesn't need to be updated for new versions of Skyrim. The main mod (which is now hosted by its original author on SE Nexus) does need to be updated in that manner, but it has no effect on this patch.
Honestly, I'd recommend you use the "best of both words" patcher on your game in the future, instead of crippling yourself waiting for SKSE mod updates that may or may not come every time Bethesda pushes out a pointless new version. Using the patcher means that you can play Skyrim AE with all its content and updated plugins/assets while using the SE version of SKSE (instead of the unstable AE version of SKSE that needs to be changed to reflect each new version).
You don't loose anything by using the patcher unless an SKSE-based mod only supports the AE version of SKSE, examples of which hardly exist.
Hi, I'm confused haha... So is this mod still a valid addition to the current Honed Metal SE? I notice that skyliner stickied this mod but that was back in Jan and that mod has been updated since then... Cheers!
This mod just adds things to a list. It doesn't change things that are already there or take them away. There's been no change to this part of Honed Metal since the end of January. No need to update. Still does exactly what it says it does. In the future, take a look at a mod's changelogs yourself and you can typically reach a conclusion on whether or not a patch you use (or want to use) for any other mods would need an update.
Appreciate the response. I guess I was confused as to the structure of HM itself in relation to this. You have a link to the HMSE in the description that kind of led to my confusion. I understand now though, thanks!
edit: To clarify, I was specifically confused as to why this mod would still be necessary if HMSE already updated its lists to include SE content. Still not 100% clear tbh but that might just be a me problem. Haha
Its lists don't include the content added by this patch. Skyliner overhauled HM's scripts to be SKSE based and better optimized, completed its features, and added .dll support for all versions of Skyrim. This addon not only supports DLC items which are not a part of Honed Metal SE's blacksmith resource list, but also adds items commonly used in weapon/armor mods that a blacksmith would have justifiable access to.
This mod page used to host the SE port of the mod as a whole, as well as this patch; that's why that message was there. It was to let people who downloaded the SE version of Honed Metal from this page know that it was safe to update to the version on the new mod page. Now that it's been awhile, I suppose I can take it down to avoid potential further confusion.
Was getting the SkyUI error and after checking around I figured out what the issue was. The mod "Honed Metal Additional Materials UPDATED - Legacy Settings Loader" which this mod page has listed in the requirements tab as "mods requiring this mod" is not supported with version 1.22+ of Honed Metal thus generating the SkyUI error. Can you please put a note somewhere that warns people not to use that mod with the newer version of this mod or Honed Metal? The way that this mod's page is set up makes people accidentally download that mod if they don't read through that mod's Posts tab.
BTW the "Honed Metal -NPC Crafting and Enchanting Services- - Settings Loader" mod is compatible with the latest version of Honed Metal and this mod. Link to that is here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/61394
That mod has nothing to do with me or this patch. I believe it's leftover from when this page hosted the early versions of Honed Metal for SE. Reading mod pages is a standard practice for mod users; something that everyone learns the hard way if they don't heed it from the start.
Regardless, this is something you should be asking MaskedRPGFan, the author of that mod. Last I checked, I have no control over other people's mod pages listing this one as a requirement, and it's not my responsibility to manage them or any user's misconceptions regarding their use.
Sounds like you've messed up your Honed Metal installation. Nothing to do with this addon. This addon does not come with a pop-up about compatibility, and works with all versions of Skyrim. Read the comment below this one for some insight on what this mod does. That popup is part of Honed Metal itself telling you that you've done something incorrect with it.
You can usually answer this question for yourself by reading Honed Metal's changelog. It would be quicker than waiting for a response from me. But it should, yes.
This mod doesn't do anything fancy. It just adds more items to the main mod's plugin record entry for materials the blacksmiths have access to. It doesn't do anything to HM's scripts or interface. Unless an HM update completely changes how the blacksmith's material access works, this addon will not become broken at any point by an update. If any materials get added or removed for some reason, I would update this mod with that change if necessary, but it typically wouldn't be a problem to still use it in the meantime even then.

Does this still work with Version 1.23?
