The latest update to Honed Metal now includes the vast majority of items previously added by this patch.
Unless you use a mod that requires one of the handful of items still added to the new lists by this patch (some Hearthfire items, feathers, and soul gem pieces), you probably will not need a materials patch for Honed Metal going forward.
I'm considering new versions of the patch that will add any still unsupported but conceivably useful vanilla items to the new FormLists using SkyPatcher or FormList Manipulator instead, as well as adding support for any relevant CC/AE content, and some popular mods (e.g., CCOR, Campfire, Hunterborn, etc).
This is not the main mod page for Honed Metal. You should probably direct your question there. This is just a patch that makes minor edits to the FormLists. It can be installed at any time. Game version doesn't matter as this patch only affects 2 records in the plugin (nothing to do with the DLLs).
First off not a mod question or anything related to this. Stop here if you want.
I see the number of downloads you got on this mod and think that is a huge success you had for a couple years. I think it sucks that the original mod updated, and your patch became included (mostly). I hope you turn this mod page into something else to keep the work going on something better.
I see you know a lot about modding and it's impressive. Anyways, good luck on your adventure in modding. I look forward to what comes next. I'm following you now. Kudos.
Also, just an idea and it's only because of the knowledge you have already, and I think it would do you justice going forward. I would like to see something of your own. Try making a new mod to compete with honed metal maybe even if that is something you'd like. Might even be worth hosting here, but that would do you a disservice as I think your own mod should be hosted on a fresh page. Anything you'd work on next I hope it's success.
Thanks for your kind words! But to be clear, this mod page has a lot of downloads and endorsements simply because it originally hosted the whole mod (Honed Metal SE). Skyliner had already created the SE version, but as a misc file on the LE mod page with open perms. Making a new mod page and managing it is a chore, so I simply took some of that burden, giving Skyliner the chance to work on further updates. The SE version got immediate attention because it was a mod that was already great and well known to those of us who migrated from Oldrim; no credit to me whatsoever.
Skyliner and I were in contact the whole time. I always intended to be a temporary host, or at most a resident go-between. Skyliner did ask if I was willing to take over the mod officially and handle SKSE updates in the future as needed, but I didn't have the time to commit to it. So we are all very fortunate that Skyliner chose to bite that bullet instead, continuing work for all of us here with our tedious multiple game versions.
I was happy help, but it's more convenient for users if the author handles the page, even if it is more work for the author. After Honed Metal moved, the only file left here was a small patch I had been maintaining and updating (also originally made by someone else), and I always wanted the patch to be a part of Honed Metal, otherwise I wouldn't have downloaded it, used it, and updated in the first place .
It hasn't updated since June last year. This patch is not likely to need updates every time, as I explained just below to the last person who asked. If you found something I missed, feel free to elaborate.
Most mod patches do not need updates just because the master updates, unless the patch is touching a large amount of records (i.e., changing a lot of things) or drastic changes were made to the master. So I wouldn't operate on that assumption if I were you in the future. This patch edits 1 record, so updating is not needed unless Sky makes changes to that 1 record.
But, since you couldn't tell me a reason, I went to go look myself. Based on glancing through the changelog, no changes were made to the contents of this 1 record, but the new optional plugin might need its own separate version of this patch due to a change of FormIDs, but only if there were enough unique forms in the plugin to require compression. I'll check.
If you use the regular updated ESP version [Honed Metal 1.24 Base], you should be fine.
@Zireael1251 Got cha, thanks for your detailed reply and now I see a reason Actually I'm using the esl version of Honed Metal and I'm looking forward to your appropriate updated patch, thanks in advance !
Graymane blacksmith didnt have a grandsoul gem in his inventory, but I had one. But when I was trying to order an item from him it didnt show up in the inventory. Other things like frost salts and stuff showed up but the grand soul gem didnt show up.
This patch only adds items to formlists in Honed Metal's ESP that blacksmith NPCs refer to for items you can pay them to acquire on their own (items not in your inventory). The patch doesn't do anything else, so any issues in the blacksmith's access to your own inventory is something you should comment about on the main mod page rather than here.
Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue- whenever I attempt to order an item from a vendor, it appears in my inventory as if I crafted it myself. This also includes enchanted items, which can't be disenchanted as I 'know the enchantment' (even though I don't). Tempering or recharging equipment causes the item to vanish forever, even when attempting to retrieve lost items in the MCM. I've got no mods that add new enchantments, just vanilla ones, and I can't figure out what's causing this- a potential script conflict somewhere, but there's nothing I can think of that'd get in the way of this functioning.
I have got Hide SkyUI which I'm sure I've read someone else say was a source of a similar issue, but for the life of me I can't find that comment anymore to ask for more info. Infuriatingly, this was installed and working fine alongside Hide SkyUI on my previous laptop with the exact same modlist before it blew up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Nothing to do with this patch, at the very least. This patch is just a light plugin adding some crafting materials to a list in the main plugin. It contains no scripts or anything else that could be the source of your issue. Best of luck!
Haha, was certain it's not this patch since it is a very small (but very welcome!) addition- I'm absolutely sure this is a script clash on the original mod when I'm ordering the item(s). Admittedly I'd accidentally put this comment on here thinking it was the original mod... Thanks so much for the well wishes!
Anybody on this page know what might cause Honed Metal mod to restrict you from adding/altering npcs to/in a crafting faction? A few months ago before I updated my modlist and skse version I added Sven to the enchanting class but now no npc will show up in the mcm menu
This is just an ESPFE patch for Honed Metal. It doesn't need to be updated for new versions of Skyrim. The main mod (which is now hosted by its original author on SE Nexus) does need to be updated in that manner, but it has no effect on this patch.
Honestly, I'd recommend you use the "best of both words" patcher on your game in the future, instead of crippling yourself waiting for SKSE mod updates that may or may not come every time Bethesda pushes out a pointless new version. Using the patcher means that you can play Skyrim AE with all its content and updated plugins/assets while using the SE version of SKSE (instead of the unstable AE version of SKSE that needs to be changed to reflect each new version).
You don't loose anything by using the patcher unless an SKSE-based mod only supports the AE version of SKSE, examples of which hardly exist.

I added it to an existing save, for which I am barely out of Helgen and got 2 error messages immediately upon loading my save.

I am on 1.6.1170 and selected that version in the fomod option
