Wild Concoctions is a conflict resolution and consistency patch for Skills of the Wild and Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul. ESL-flagged ESP.

There are different versions of Wild Concoctions for the different versions of Skills of the Wild. Please ensure you download the appropriate file for the version of Skills of the Wild you are using.

Wild Concoctions 2.0, for Skills of the Wild 2.0

FEATURES

The book "Cooking with Moon Sugar" from CACO will give SOTW cooking experience, like other cookbooks in the game.

CACO's item conversion recipes (such as turning Salt Piles into Salt and vice versa) will not give cooking experience.

The "Cycle of Life" perk from SOTW's "Art of the Hunt" skill tree no longer grants the "Unusual Harvest" power, to avoid the player being able to harvest dead people twice by using this ability after CACO's method of harvesting from dead people. The player can still pay their respects at graves or ashes created with the "Prepare for Burial" power as normal.

INSTALLATION, REQUIREMENTS, AND COMPATIBILITY
Install and load Wild Concoctions after Skills of the Wild and CACO, and allow Wild Concoctions to overwrite "_HHH_UnusualTaste_Script.pex".

Wild Concoctions 2.0 does not require any patching for mods that alter food or adjust cooking recipes. Mods that add new cookbooks to the list of books that add cooking experience, or new foods to the list of items that don't add cooking experience, would need a patch.

Wild Concoctions 2.0 has no additional requirements other than CACO, SOTW, and their requirements. You do not need Hunterborn for this version of Wild Concoctions.

Wild Concoctions 1.0.6, for Skills of the Wild 1.10 | Wild Concoctions ≤1.0.5, for Skills of the Wild ≤1.02

The only difference between Wild Concoctions 1.0.6 and 1.0.5 is that 1.0.6 supports the ESL-flagged 1.10 update to SOTW, whereas Wild Concoctions 1.0.5 supports the earlier non-ESL-flagged versions of SOTW.

FEATURES
Progressing through the SOTW "Culinary Arts" skill tree will unlock access to increasingly complex recipes from the vanilla game, Hunterborn, and CACO. As some recipes are significantly different with the addition of CACO, the perks required to access them will sometimes be different from the standard SOTW requirements. In particular, the recipes available through the Exotic Meals perks have been moved around a bit, with Exotic Meals 1 enabling recipes that use ingredients from other provinces or from monsters (such as chaurus and spiders), and Exotic Meals 2 enabling recipes that use ingredients from legendary creatures (i.e. dragons) or from people.

CACO's cooking skill/experience can be left enabled if desired, and leveling it should increase the magnitude of food effects as normal, but it won't grant you the ability to cook new recipes.

Recipe conditions have also been adjusted so that you need to have one of the main component ingredients of the dish in your inventory before the recipe will be visible, to reduce crafting menu clutter.

The book "Cooking with Moon Sugar" from CACO will give SOTW cooking experience, like other cookbooks in the game.

INSTALLATION, REQUIREMENTS AND COMPATIBLITY
As you'd probably guessed, Wild Concoctions requires that you already have installed Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul, Skills of the Wild, and all their requirements. It also specifically requires the Hunterborn_CACO-SE_Patch.esp file that comes with the Hunterborn SE MCM installer. Install Wild Concoctions after Skills of the Wild and allow Wild Concoctions to overwrite "_HHH_UnusualTaste_Script.pex".
Load the plugins in the following order:
  • Complete Alchemy and Cooking Overhaul
  • Hunterborn
  • Hunterborn_CACO-SE_Patch
  • Skills of the Wild
  • Wild Concoctions

Other mods that change recipes or ingestible items will conflict with Wild Concoctions. Mods that add new recipes or ingestible items won't be consistent with this mod, but also won't interfere with the function.

In particular, needs mods that change food items will need to be patched so that the name change from Charred Skeever Meat to Charred Meat is retained, on top of the usual considerations for patching with CACO, otherwise you'll find that cooking anything when you don't have any cooking skills will produce Charred Skeever Meat no matter what animal the raw meat came from. (However, with Wild Concoctions and CACO, the name change from Cooked Beef to Cooked Meat is not required.)

To enable compatibility with iWant RND for CACO, use that mod's "iWant RND for CACO with Dynamic Food.esp," load Wild Concoctions.esp after all iWant RND .esps, and follow the instructions in the below spoiler.
Spoiler:
Show

  • Navigate to SKSE\Plugins\StorageUtilData\iWant RND for CACO\Dynamic Food\ . If you're using MO2, this will be in the mod folder where you installed iWant RND for CACO. (If you're installing manually or using another mod manager, I can't help you.)
  • Open database.json in a text editor.
  • Press ctrl+f and search for "Charred Skeever Meat".
  • Replace "Charred Skeever Meat" with "Charred Meat".
  • Save the file.
iWant RND for CACO will correctly recognise when you eat Charred Meat and adjust your hunger accordingly, without dynamically renaming Charred Meat to Charred Skeever Meat.

Other needs mods that edit crafting recipe or ingestible item records will need manual patching.
