holy shit. a skin/face mod that doesn't make everything look like second life fabio/tittybooby goonbait slop. i want to pin this mod to the top of this site for all time.
Why isn't this mod more famous? Just by looking at the NPCs, the cow, and the goat, you can tell it's totally worth it. A really good baseline to start modding on top.
Here's to hoping architecture gets covered with SSEUT someday. It's the thing I'm trying to keep close to vanilla the most - and Clarity just didn't cut it out as I couldn't even tell the difference, while SRO had some pretty noticeable tiling issues.
A lot of the tintmasks have very imperceptable errors in them, (presumably from upscaling? I've never used the tools so I wouldn't know), that show up when generating facegen using this mod.
Here is an image of one of the tintmasks that has the issues:

Here is the same texture but I edited it (using paintdotnet's auto-level) to make the issue as obvious as possible:

And here is an image of a facegen using said tintmask:

You can actually see the issue in the facegen (albeit very faintly). The discoloration shows up as a band around the characters neck and above the backs of the ears (and on the lower back of their head).
Update: I don't know much about image editing or color but I managed to "fix" my copies of the tintmasks using XnConvert and shifting the black point up by 1 point. Its not perfect since some of the textures have different upscaling errors (and it makes some of the ones, especially ones with a gradiant, look ever so slightly different) but it fixed it for the most part and from my test you can't really see anything in the facegen anymore.
Hello, if I use the 2x version of this mod, what value should I use for iTintTextureResolution in skse.ini? Or should I just not have that line in there? Thank you!
I never got an answer, now im sad. =( I was building an npc mod on the old 0.5 version as foundation but now im hesitant to release it as i don't know what changes or improvements I may have missed out on.
oh shoot sorry. I miss questions sometimes :c. uhhhhhh. I think this has some changes I can't remember. If the previous one looks fine to you then it's probably not relevant to what you changed.
Just a question : Why is this mod smaller than other 4k creatures upscaling mods (for exemple project clarity creatures 4k) despite being the only of these mods that upscales player textures too ? Have u forgoten one or two textures, or have u just compressed your files better than your """"""concurents"""""" ?
edit : i searched by myself, just the 8k mammoths and dragons ^^
Yeah, I avoid 8k textures, they are increased size from 4k by 4x size, so they are very expensive for RAM and disc space. I think they usually don't have much improvement. Occasionally they might be worth it for screen shots, so I include it as an option.
