I too see purple textured goblets (tankards) used by NPCs on occasion. I checked every tankard mesh and they all have correct textures and they look ok using the "Explore Virtual Folder" in MO2 to look at the NIFs. So not sure what's going on. The Animated Eating Redux ESP does have a reference to "animobjects\animobjectTankardCoffee.nif" which doesn't exist at all, but I don't know if that's used in the game, and if it was used it would either cause a CTD (due to missing mesh) or might be invisible. It wouldn't have purple (missing) textures.
In any case, I did find a soup bowl mesh with a bad texture reference in it, causing its contents to be purple, though I don't know if the mesh is actually used in the game since there's an entry for ZF_VenisonStew in the ESP's Texture Set which might affect it. In any case, it doesn't hurt to correct the mesh itself, and since Animated Eating Redux no longer allows posts I'm reporting it here in case it helps someone:
Open the animobjectvenisonstew.nif mesh in nifskope and change the first texture in "14 BSShaderTextureSet\Textures" to use the following texture: textures\animated eating\food\venisonstew.dds
Check the individual conflicts to judge it and choose which you prefer, but IIRC, the original mod's page says that they're already using HalkHogan's resources from the Realistic HD series.
Maybe if I switch to it one day. Someone else coukd probably do it as long as they have author permissions (who were very kind when I asked for myself(.
Hmm, I don't get it. I installed Animated Eating -> Basic Dining Set -> This Patch.... and some npcs I see drinking from a mesh that's missing a texture, so it appears purple. any idea what I did wrong. I see nothing overwriting these meshes.

I'm unsure what is causing that issue as I don't see it happening in my game. Whatever the case, make sure to let Basic Dining Set overwrite Animated Eating for that specific mesh.
Yah, dining set is overwriting animated eating redux. with this patch/mod after both. If I encounter it again I'll take a screen shot and see I can get the ID.
I've had the same problem, or have, as i can safely say, that this is a bug within animated eating redux. The mod uses the bowl and tankard mesh from Realistic HD Misc Remastered (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22165), but is missing the textures. There is an option to use these meshes in the install process, but that does nothing as they get used anyways.
I don't know, which mesh it is, that is used during the specific animation, though i've tried to replace the anim object tankard meshes. Also there are different meshes with filled tankards like with wine and mead and so on, but these are not used, as the tankards are empty most of the time. Within the esp itself, it seems the tankardwine/-milk and so on objects aren't used, as i couldn't find the linked anywhere to an animation object. Also this bug is definately present in version 4.4 and 4.3, as these are the two, i've tested. Didn't feel like going further back.
I'd contact the author of the mod about this, but comments are disabled and he mentioned not wanting any pms, so that's that =)
Anyways, for the time being, i'd recomend to copy over the textures from Realistic HD Misc Remastered??, specifically the woodenbowl and tankard from the clutter/dining something folder. This fixes the purple objects. Also i'd recommend to copy over the meshes too so you won't get disparity between the static and the animation object.

@kul If what Cyan says is true, then it's both (missing textures due to an improperly patched mesh that leads to an outside source). As far as I know, Realistic HD food does not include any tankard textures or meshes?
Anyway, what you should do basically is install Animated Eating --> Realistic HD Food --> Basic Dining Set --> This patch, with the latter overwriting the former.
It should theoretically fix the issue, since RHDF will have the missing texture that AE is leading the mesh to.
lol so we need this mod to fix it ? eah i was wondering how the hell i was getting missing textures, i really the anims and eating stuff, using with need mods and some stuff is really cool, you char seems more alive ^^ so we jsut nee d to install that mod or just put the files on the aniamted eating redux? I like the idea, it makes it feel more immersive. That being said, I just switched over to Eating Animations and Sounds. I'm sure you are going to get asked, so I figured I would head it off. Will it still work with EAAS and if not do you plan on making a patch like this for that mod as well?
I don't think it will work with the other mod because they most likely use different meshes filepath. I also have no plans on patching it for the other, since I'm not using the mod. Sorry.
If one day I decide to use that mod, I will consider it.

Despite the extra texture mod, it's worth it as the cups look great along with all the different foods the NPCs eat.

Should HD Misc overwrite the basic dining set then or vice versa?
