Just curious. Has anyone had a problem with some nests being up in the air, but there's no tree or it's above the tree? A few are just past the distillery near White Run. Both sides of the road. Sorry I can't think of the name of it. I thought it might be the Fences of Skyrim mod, but there's a bunch in wilderness too. I use Simply larger Trees, so I can't see that causing issue as the tree would be bigger. The mod overrides 2 mods. I also use extraordinary eggs, but whether I override it or not, same issue. Not a huge issue but was curious if someone had seen this and if they could fix it. Thanks
update...It was Skyrim 2020 that caused the issue.
update...They did disappear, but when I started new game they were there again. I have this mod overriding 3 other mods. Any idea what type of mods would affect this one?
Me: I don't need this. It's not like I go around gathering eggs from every farm I pass and getting all up-close to the nests to look at them long enough to see if they're accurately portrayed or look good.
My brain: Download it. You'll appreciate it later.
Well, CBH contains the same nifs as this one, so one will overwrite the other depending on the order you load them at game start-up.
I'm not sure if the nifs (meshes) are largely the same or different, I have not checked. In any case you can try it out. Technically it will work, but maybe the visual result is not as expected or as designed. These kind of mods can be installed and uninstalled safely from an ongoing game, there is no risk involved in trying.
It works just fine with that mod. When installing my mod, don't let the nif files overwrite the chicken butt ones. I only added the nif files in case somebody used this mod that had a completely diff mesh. The Chicken Butt one uses the vanilla, just shrinks the eggs!
*I actually installed butt hurt and will prob keep it. Thanks for this.
The nests look great. The eggs are maybe a little too rough and gritty? Looks like the normal map adds a lot of unevenness to them, and the texture surface is also very cracked when you look at it in a texture viewer. I'd assume bird's eggs would be quite a lot smoother to look at :)
Ya, sadly, I only upscaled the eggs because they are attached to the nest texture. I may do a future update and mess with the eggs. I did the normals in MindTex2 and then in adobe cc and both times they didn't come out the best. Not sure if it's cause im newer at BC7. I was always kind of shet at normals haha. Might mess with it more in future and soften the egg part more.
The only reason I didn't spend more time on the egg is the seam issue. It has the 2 sides of the egg in the texture and when I originally did attempt to do it, I got a slight seam and just didn't bother. Though I haven't attempted just a seamless pattern within the egg. I actually tried a speckled egg upscaled to 4k . TBH, the way they made the texture with the egg annoyed me too much I guess. When I did upscale vanilla though, I used Gigapixel A.I.
have a look at what DarShonDo did on his eggs, I don't know anything about fixing seems, but he seems too. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22645 I always tend to paste his eggs over any nest texture I use.
I'd be happy with just default vanilla eggs and your improved nests. Maybe you could upload a version like that? The upscaled eggs look worse than vanilla in my opinion =p
I'm adding an update soon. Taking screens in game of the new eggs I did with new normal files that make eggs smooth.
The new eggs get weird shadow seam when tilted. It could be nif file, the eggs are honestly a pain in the ass and I wish they were not paired with the nests. If you don't like the look of the eggs, please download the new normal textures in optional files. That should get rid of any bumps on eggs. I'm done with this mod. xD
Wow I never saw that one it looks really good! They deff did the eggs better. Something I might be changing soon for a new update when I look at it during the weekend.
*added to optional files. I believe they used the nifs from vanilla nests with that texture so let me know if it works. I don't know where hawks nests are right off the bat. xD It's pretty much identical to the bird nests aside from the eggs. Not sure why they didn't just make egg textures separate files.
yeah me either, being able to choose egg textures separately nest would have been great. The hawk nest only appear in the towers of the HF homes. I would imagine it's mesh just a copy of the the birds nest. I can't use the meshes, CACO adds all the nests with a different number of eggs in them. It's packed in a BSA, a loose file would break that mod. Pfuscher nest have been out a while, it's not a separate mod, it's packed in his 2020 texture pack. I can't use them because of the above reason.
Damn, Now I can't decide if I should download that and use that nest instead of this one haha. Wonder how I missed that. I have quite a few of his mods.
Does it give a prompt to overwrite the nif files? If you say no and keep his nif files, will these textures still work with those eggs or no?
Pfuscher meshes/textures are completely different(different UV maps). I think he keeps the vanilla textures renamed for the eggs.
Not 100% sure , because had to delete them because it breaks CACO which just adds different number of eggs to the vanilla nest mesh.
Maybe one day I'll get around to making a patch so I can use them.
I'm using MO2 so I don't get overwrite prompts, I have to check for conflicts after I DL a mod and adjust load order accordingly(or delete the file I don't want winning the conflict, which is what I usually do because I'm running off an SSD)

Just erase the egg out these textures.
Erase the nest out of the textures you want for the eggs.
Load up both layers and flatten them and save.
