hexabit now offers an official fix available as an optional file on the Footprints mod page. I will release an update to mimic hexabit's fix, but that is the final update of this mod (removal of BSA file). I strongly recommend downloading the fix from the author of the original mod whenever possible. Get it here.

I will keep this mod page up for searchability and as a courtesy to users who have already downloaded.

As a few others have mentioned the fix (official and this one) doesn't seem to do anything to my square footprints.
Using Rudy ENB for vivid weathers, nordic snow and simplicity of snow. Any help would be appreciated.

Older versions of this mod had different approaches to the issue, no guarantee they will work but you can try them.

Thanks, v1 fixed it (although they are more of a cutout with sharp edges but it's better than squares)

I have this odd bug where Footprints work for everyone except for the Player. Any ideas?

I've seen this with changing races to non-supported races and then turning back into a playable race. I also use SPID fix.

today I tested it again on new game with SPID fix as before installed and lol! works! idkn why I had that issue before... ssedite doesnt show any conflict, but still I loaded the footsprint.esp as low as possible, almoust at the end of my load order and NOW my caracter has footprints also! its vanilla caracter. So.. maybe load order solved the issue.. :)

0_o well... ALSO! next time try this tweak ->
just take off your boots and walk without it.. you may/will find your footprints back inmediatly. O.o
everytime I have that issue first thing to try is this tweak..
(its just a tweak that works for me so I know that the everything is ok.
I use SPID and SPID FIX etc... sand patch).

Unfortunately, neither the original author's fix, nor this one work for me. Has something changed?

I have Footprints.esp at the end of my load order, and placed the fix directly after that. No luck. I'm using Scenery ENB and the snow from Majestic Mountains Landscape addon.

Interesting thing: The square artifacts are darker than the snow here. In the pics on this mod-page the artifacts are brighter. Maybe i need to adjust the shade of the "transparency"? If that's the case, were should i look with xEdit?

I use Rudy ENB for Obsidian Weathers, latest binary. I have footprints and this patch installed and do not get the footprint effect at all. Disabling this mod makes no difference so it's NOT this mod. But the FP mod page comments are turned off and hoping someone here might have an idea for things for me to try as I love this effect.

Is there an .ini setting I need to ensure is on? (decals are on) or ENB GUI setting? Thanks for any tips. I have Nordic Snow installed if that makes a difference.

I do run animation replacers for my character - perhaps that's the issue? DAR and Immersive Animations.

Footprints has a quest that needs to run for them to be enabled -- maybe it didn't start? Make sure it's lower in your load order too. I know if you make a character via coc from the main menu rather than new game Footprints doesn't initialize properly.

I have the same issue as @KurganSPK .

I will try what you are saying to see if it works.

      Thanks!

Did you ever resolve this?  I'm having the same issue with Rudy ENB.  Had this working perfectly before but now... nada.

Did you have the square effect without this mod? I dont know if this is a problem for all ENBs where this fix is needed. You can try the older version which enabled the Alpha feature as an alternative too (pre the blank glow map). Not sure what would work best for you here.

    Hi.
Just a question here cause i can't place a comment on the Footprints page itself.
Is there a way to disable the bright white snow that pops up when a foot hits the snow?

Hope you know what i mean?

i dont know that the scripts are public. Is this a vanilla feature or no? I may be able to figure out how to hide if not remove it.

NVM. I found it. Just hide the meshes folder from Footprints itself. But first extract BSA ofcourse.
Footprints looks a lot better without those meshes

      Sidenote...

Only hide the meshes for snow and leave ash meshes alone if you want the dusty poofs.

I would still think it better to make the meshes invisible rather than removing them as the missing mesh is likely causing errors.

Can you also make it so that the dust/snow textures (not the footprint itself but kicked up particles) are not bright white with enb during the night?

I thought that I would let you know that the records "footprintsGoblinSnowL [TXST:0601988A]", "footprintsVampireLordAshL [TXST:0601FC9B]", and "footprintsWerewolfAshLStrafeL [TXST:0601FCA7]" are missing the Parallax flags. Not sure if it was intentional but all other records have this flag.

mmmmm shouldn't really be a negative but I'll update it to match. Likely a mistake there are a ton of records.

hexabit has yet to reply to my message, and has no comment section on his footprints mod --

Hoping someone can answer this here:

On his mod comes with two files. The Footpints.esp and Footprints - ENB.esp

I use ENB. Am I supposed to use one, or both of these .esp's? Documentation doesn't clarify. Thanks in advance.

If you're ever unsure about that kind of thing again, check the file sizes. Oftentimes patches are less than a few MB. Whereas your main files are typically larger.
