Role-Playing Perks - Archery

This is the first in a series of perk tree overhauls that I call 'Role-Playing Perks'. The overall goal is to provide more unique perks to allow for different play styles, and also to introduce trade-offs when selecting perks.

The main goals for this Archery overhaul are as follows:
  • To allow for more different styles of play as an archer.
  • A more gradual power curve as you level up Archery.
  • Increased flexibility in terms of which perks you want.

Detailed perk information can be found below. An outline of the major changes is as follows:

You have a choice between two playstyles, 'Ranger' and 'Sniper'. The Ranger style focuses on faster shots. Base damage is weak, but potential damage per second is high with a stacking damage bonus. This style is dynamic and versatile. The Sniper style focuses on power. Firing rate is reduced, but shots are much more powerful, allowing for more easy one-shot kills. This style is best suited for long range combat and assassinations.

Crossbows get their own perks, increasing their effectiveness against undead and improving stagger.

Various vanilla perks have been rebalanced and repositioned in the skill tree.

Requirements

Attack Speed Framework (Or one of the substitutes listed on its page)
This is required for the attack speed modifying effects to work as intended.

Recommendations

The following mods are recommended in order to improve your experience with Role-Playing Perks - Archery.

Critical Hits Make Sense - More Damage and Scaling
The skill tree is balanced around the critical hit damage provided by this mod. Without it, critical hits are extremely weak, which ruins the intended gameplay balance.

Role-Playing Perks - Melee
Part 2 of Role-Playing Perks. Applies the same design philosophy as this mod to the One-Handed, Two-Handed and Block skills. Highly recommended in combination with this mod.

Archery Quick Shot Perk Bug Fix
Without this mod, the 'Nock Nock' perk only speeds up the drawing animation, and not the actual draw time, making the perk useless.

Bows and Arrows Rebalanced
Another mod of mine that makes changes to archery, namely changes to the stats of all bows and arrows. This aims to make bows more interesting by giving them more diverse stats that align with their lore, and to buff slower bows.

Up Next

The next module I aim to release for Role-Playing Perks is "Armor", covering the Light Armor and Heavy Armor skills. This will round out my changes to the combat skills. I will be focusing on more differentiation between the two armor types and armor pieces, as well as providing more incentive to combine different types of armor. As with Archery and Melee, you can expect there to be some impactful perks with downsides in addition to their advantages.
