that sound ... extremely strong for mage builds: add another enchantment and lower spell cost , especially together, can remove the need for a mage to have any mana cost with some slots left over, instead of no mana cost for 3 schools using everything as vanilla (if it stack with the vanilla sources of all spells reductions and the twin secret perk). compared to that, the various bonus to armors, which will have no effect on middle and end game as the cap is reached, feel lackluster
as for minor tomes, the same bias toward mage applies, as warriors tempering make the bonus irrelevant, while continuous spells would get a non engligible boost
Hi, I use Immersive Spell Learning - DESTified, which takes time to learn spells. If I use your mod and that, would it just take time to learn the Book of Wisdom or would it not work at all? Thanks.
Bit the bullet and installed it. For those of you who might have the same question, it takes time to read the book like it does learning a spell, but then the bonus is added once you've finished it.
help, I found out that my cloak spell's range got weirdly long and it was effected by wisdom of frost damage. I remember that the game machanic was like increasing destruction power by drinking potion increases range of cloak spell too. I tried to remove the effect through console command but the range doesn't seem to change. I got way too far to load my save, please, is there any way to change this?
P.s. it was not book of wisdom's problem, turns out simply balanced had a problem with this
This seems like a very nice mod to have. I think a good way of fixing all of those incompatibilities with containers is to put them out in the world instead of in containers. Or alternatively make new custom containers for just these books.
The idea of them rarely being found in a random chest makes them a special treasure that anyone can find. Placing them in certain areas would not only take time to do, but also mean that some of them may never be found unless you search all of the map looking for them or the mod author places them in areas that the main quests send you. Going to Youtube and learning to make patches is likely the best idea for fixing conflicts, this mod is perfect the way it is and lets the mod author work on new mods.
Yes, they are working. I need a more detailed description of your issue. Have you found a book and read it? Do you use any mod that alters the way how spells are learned?
Ah thanks, I thought they were working like perks rather than spells. I just checked found it in the MCM list for spell learning and discovery. Cheers.
Just out of curiosity, the conflicts between this mod and treasure hunter: would the bashed patch solve the conflicts, or would that have to be a third party patch? Did not see this specifically answered anywhere. Thanks.
I don't think so. I don't know how exactly the system with bashed tags work. I always patch my mods manually.
If you already have a bashed patch, you can filter the conflicting containers (about 15 between Treasure Hunter and my mod) using xedit and drag both their records into your bashed patch. That would take about 3 minutes.
It's the same procedure for all mods conflicting with this so maybe this Image can help you or others with patching.
Seems like a cool mod, definitely worth considering! Out of curiosity, is there any content in the books to read, like vanilla skill books? Or are thet more like spell tomes, just activate and get the effect? And if the latter, are they also destroyedon reading like spell tomes?
Just out of curiosity, what is the conflict you found with LOTD? I like the idea of this, but LOTD and related mods make up a huge part of my mod build.
LOTD adds paintings and cards to some containers, which are also modified by this mod. The modifications by the earlier loaded mod will be overwritten by the other. That means without a patch you have to decide if you want to find the LOTD items or my books. I recommend giving LOTD priority over this.
I've made a conflict resolution patch for LOTD, but I have no idea if I need any permissions to publish it here. I contacted the LOTD team.
LOTD provides also patches for Dynamic Dungeon Loot or Treasure Hunter. Those mods and patches will also conflict with this mod and my LOTD patch. I highly recommend creating your own patches designed for your specific load order. I can't provide patches for every possible combination of mods or patches.
Thanks for the explanation. Unfortunately, I'm horrible at patching things so I guess I have to pass for now but it's still a really cool idea.
If you ever decide to try something new with this, it could be a cool alternative to do a second version where a traveling NPC sells the books rather than being loot-based. Obviously, the books would have to be higher priced to make it a challenge for people that don't cheat a bunch a of gold to their side. Just suggesting this as a potential project since you said you were a little new to modding.
