Thanks for the very cool mod ! by far my fav harkon replacer :)
I made a quick and easy patch for Artificer for the Vampiric Flame Effect Enchant file if someone is interested here's a link > https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/3pdnm4uhwxdm56g6pf6dl/Harkon-s-Sword-Vampiric-Flame.esp?rlkey=lyro2sg4drgaxoxij60rm03je&st=eokv0nuh&dl=0
If you want to, feel free to upload the file on its own mod page, and I'll link it! If not, that's also fine. I'll just pin your comment if that's what you prefer.
I'm not really a modder per say, I've made some patches for my personal use but that's all so I don't intend to make a page myself. Do what you want with it ! You could even add it to this modpage if that's what you want, I'd be honoured :)
Hello Mur4s! Any chance you're still checking Nexus notifications in 2025 8)
TL;DR any chance you'd be interested in patching your Vampflame effect? Or letting me patch it? The sword works as-is, but the vanilla version's a little underpowered and I wanted to learn the enchant. Wound up having to make my own mod to make that happen. Would like to make the Vampflame an option for it.
Long version:
I was using this for a while, loved the effect - tried a mod to buff its base damage a little and make it Disenchantable (I KNOW THAT'S NOT A REAL WORD, NEXUS SPELLNAG) and that's when things went Horribly Wrong(tm)
Unfortunately other "make unique weapons learnable" mods tend to just nuke the "u no break dis" flag and call it a day. But the Harkon's Sword enchant is unique / can't quite be replicated by a player-cast enchantment in the game: if you just remove the flag then learn the enchant, then cast it on a weapon - the result is you get stupidly low charges even from a Grand Soul, and only the Healthsteal scales with the slider - Magicka and Stamina drain remain static - the name comes out wrong - it's a mess. Another Beth Special(tm), a one-off item breaking their own rules 8)
In order to get a player-cast enchant most like the original I had to make a new ENCH and use it to call three custom MGEF, instead of using the vanilla effects and original sword enchant, and by now you see where this is going: it blows away your ENCH so no Bloodflame Blade for me T_T
I've no experience making weapon VFX, and you already made one i like, and i've squinted into xEdit enough for one day 8) so can we by our powers combined update this poor old sword into 2025?
Thanks!
edit: i need to come up with a good name for it i am sick of even *thinking* "Harkon's Sword," Beth really phoned it in there, so much effort, what do we get next Arkay's Bathrobe??? -_-
So I used the harkon replacement main file but after completing the dlc the sword I got from him is still the standard vanilla one. I also got the LotD patch and the vampiric flames one any idea what is going on?
That's.. weird because I have it there in my modlist in mo2... I guess I'll try redownloading and installing it but not sure why its showing that for me also but will see if that works thanks
Okay totally my bad it wasn't actually installed then naming scheme it showed up with in MO2 made me think I had already done so when I was downloading everything since the fire effect thing just showed up in the list as "Mage Glass Sword - Harkon's Sword Replacer" But downloaded the actual main file now and its working fine thanks
Hey so whenver i draw the harkon sword the animation will start then just goes to a base glass sword. any particular mods or issues that could be causing this?
I'm not sure. It shouldn't be doing this because it's just a model replacer, and the Vampiric Flame ESP only contains edits to the magic effect of the enchantment.
I suggest loading your load order in SSEEdit and check for conflicts.
Beautiful reskin !!! Thanks for this. Regarding the enchantment - is there a way to get the effect without any replacer for Harkon's Sword ? Perhaps a mod that makes it so every enchantment on this specific weapon looks like this ?
Thanks! I don't think the last option is possible, at least not be me. However, if you use a mod that allows you to disenchant Harkon's Sword, you should be able to enchant another sword with this. Other than that, I have no plans to develop it further.
You need a mod that allows you to disenchant Harkon's Sword. When you place the enchantment on another weapon, it should have the effect as well. Note: it won't match with all weapons.
Small update to replace the display model of Harkon's Sword with this model. For consistency's sake, use only if you're also using the Harkon's Sword Replacer main file.

(just replace the original esp with this one)

I'll make an optional patch to use the effect that requires your original mod then. Thanks!
