This isn't a request for you to make a version of your mod that does this, but any idea how I could just reduce the amount of interior smoke? Usually I'm fine with it, but there's just a couple places where it's over the top.

You can't selectively reduce it unless you make a plugin and manually modify a smoke emitter or mesh. I never tried doing that. I did try reducing the opacity of an object in nifskope, but I can't say if it will work. That was almost 10 years ago. I would try changing NiAlphaProperty->threshold first and looking at the other alpha fields of each branch in nifskope. The second option apart from mesh opacity is to change the texture of the smoke, but it will be even less specific. I would take a look at the mod "Texture Mesh Association and more" and download the file "nif -- dds Text" to know which textures are used on a mesh, and use More Informative Console to identify the mesh name of something I click on when I use the console command.

Some smoke comes from an emitter object instead of being a standalone thing. Fires are an example of this. You could tweak the settings of the emitter in nifskope. The other option is to only remove some of the smoke meshes, but it may look odd or too clean in other areas because they share the same meshes. You have to contend with the disorder of the problem somehow, there's no easy solution. I chose to remove whole groups of objects to make it simpler for everyone.

Unfortunately, this mod causes my game to exit with an error every time I quit, as reported by trainwreck. When I remove the mod, the game exits without the error. I have no other mods installed. It's not really a big deal; it's just annoying.

I updated the high compatibility version to 1.3 . It will no longer generate the error.

Oh, that's great, thank you! I didn't even know there was a compatibility version.

Is there a way to specifically remove fog from lanterns? i like how mountains look windy, but my enb gives lanterns a weird glow

I would go to the folder meshes/effects/ambient of my mod and remove all files starting with "fxambbeam". The developers use a combination of different nouns so it's hard to know what smoke_mist vs mist_fog vs fog_mist means concretely and I have not documented the difference, but I remember that mist is low in a scene, fog is low and high, beams come from windows and other holes. Beams are often paired with a glow. All glow files are in the ambient folder too. Glows look like a big pale orb, there's one in the spider hole picture above. You can install More Informative Console, open the console and click on a beam mesh in-game to see the file name if you want to make sure you are removing the correct mesh.

Thank you very much, this is the only module that worked for me,      Interior Floating Fog Remover
The one I mentioned above didn't work for me, and yours did, thank you

I really like your mod and it makes things look so much better, but I'm wondering which parts should I remove if I do want to keep the fog/mist over the water? Like in the middle pic of your preview? Just not all the dusts and dust fogs that float up or down?

    Hello,

Is it a lot of work to provide optional files so we could choose to remove fog or smoke or mist ?

I would like to remove only the exterior smoke. Or simply looking for the keyword "smoke" is enough from your mod ?

Hi. I think it's better to keep one main file to avoid adding complexity since there's a lot of different types of smoke. I would begin by removing files starting with fxcamerattach(/effects) and fxmistlow0(/effects/ambient). Dust, smoke, mist and fog effects are very similar visually. It's probably a fxcameraattach. It's definitely not beams since those are used for windows in interiors, same with the glow. Also, try fxslowdustmist.nif and fxvolumemist01.nif (/effects). I would have checked myself, but I don't have games installed right now.

Thank you for the quick reply !

I am trying to find other alternatives and I think this mod (Smoke Remover) was yours ? Link is not working anymore but in FPS paramount you are mentioned in his FOMOD :p Is there a reason that it was removed ? (such as bug, obsolete, etc.)

This mod saved my sanity! While it might remove more from exteriors than I'd like, I think it's a good compromise.

What is the difference with https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/4298?tab=files

What files are for exteriors? I don't want those removed.
