So if this is based on Obsidian is it seasonal as well?

      going to try this: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/63562?tab=files
The base mod supports adding seasonal weather to onyx.

Ah, snap. That is what I came here looking for. Been working on getting all the seasonal stuff going, and making my mods compatible, and then it starts snowing in the summer time. Ideally it would not do that. That is really it. Every other weather seems fine in any given season.

HMMM. Is it saying that using the vanilla version will work with Onyx, but we lose out on all the new weathers? Maybe I will just try to the obsidian one. They're the same weathers after all. Obviously if that worked I think someone would have said so, but I will try anyway. Even though some people say that even with actual Obsidian and the patch, they still get snow in Summer.

I haven't had a chance to really test onyx with the weather system framework yet. I am still trying to get parallax and cs to not be so jittery before I start a new playthrough. So far light limit fix and screen-space shadows have been really bad but really hoping I can get parallax working well with my system for parallax landscapes.

I am not using an ENB but I am using Community Shaders (CS). This is probably self explanatory to most, but should I use the enb version of this mod or the base version with CS?

The base version. ENB is less "different" I guess, so the enb can do all the color changes and stuff. Since you don't have enb, and CS doesn't do sky effects yet, the regular one should look better for you.

Thanks. I did a little comparison and forgot to come back to mention it. I originally asked this question because I do not really understand CS and I have never used an ENB. I saw that in a VR modlist for CS, that they included simplicity of the sea which can be used with ENB or CS. This made me think CS is similar to ENB on a level I do not understand (?). But I did a comparison, and using the ENB version of Onyx with CS makes everything look washed out compared the non-ENB version of Onyx.

    Please.
Can you add the sunsets of Cathedral weathers to this mod?
With this add the mod will be perfect.
This weather is amazing in VR but the sunsets are not magical like cathedral sunsets.
If the author or someone can do a patch to have the cloud sunset textures of Cathedral weathers and seasons it will be AMAZING!!!

how??? and did you figure out the mountain fog issue? (was it just editing the night sky to be brighter?)

I have installed both mods and put Cathedral after in the load orther like a master.
After that I deleted with Tesedit all the weathers of Cathedral leaving only the good one clear sky and cloudy with amazing sunsets.
Both mods can work together well and the weathers are changing well.
So I can use Onyx with all the weathers without some clear westhers that Cathedral are using it for better sunsets.
For the fog I can't solve the issue of the mountais but I use the mod "Supreme fog" that add a lot of different fogs and works with Onyx weathers and the effect I like.

I've been using this mod with the darkness settings to 20% alongside ELFX Hardcore for ages without issues. For some odd reason, It randomly switched back to bright-as-day nights, I have done everything from removing ELFX exteriors and reinstalling Onyx with the darkest settings to deleting and reinstalling both. Even when reinstalled the nights REFUSE to go back to being pitch black and remain in their vanilla form. I am at a complete loss.

This is a pretty good mod and fixes most of the issues I had with Obsidian in VR, but the fog looks broken, the sky needs to be brighter than the near objects and not the other way around

the authors created Onyx with the intention to fix grass lighting (especially at night), which can be seen pretty good in the comparison shot. the downside is that few single foggy weather types have this grey tree/dark sky look.

      @wolfman5750 correct me if i´m wrong ;)

If this is what is causing the issue it would be nice to have an optional patch, I would rather have bright grass and proper fog, or just let me know how to fix it myself and I'll try and make the patch

Onyx was mostly generated with a script to get the lighting to look consistent. A few weathers, and a few transitions like the one pictured do need a little more manual tweaking to get things to look right. One of these days I plan to make a "Wolfman's Cut" or something like that to address these weathers, but RL hasn't left me a lot of free time for Skyrim lately.

No worries, I'll see if I can figure this out, I just haven't modded the game since the early days and came back mostly for VR, I'll have to find a way to make the creation kit work with the VR version because it doesn't seem to launch.

I've seen other people complain of the same issue on Reddit so I decided to try and fix the fog, I managed to get the creation kit and sseedit to work with Skyrim VR, this is all new to me so some pointers would be appreciated , what should I start tweaking to change the fog? If anyone can chime in that would be helpful

EDIT: Nevermind figured it out, looks much better now

If this is updated to fix the gray landscape issue, as shown above, I'd love it.  It's the only thing about the weather that seems out of place.

      Dude
Where with sseedit to clear that white fog / mountains?

EDIT : 3 years of modding. Just removed Onyx VR for the first time because of white background or far object.
installed ELFX weather and exterior alongside ELFX shadows
. SHOULD HAVE DONE IT SOONER.

That said, onyx VR got the better rain over all mod. Ill try rain mods to fix huge drops when raining

EDIT 2 : Went back to ONYX. Its better at more point.
The GREY moutains annoy me though. FIX PLEASE :(

would it be safe to switch version on an active safe game? like if i switch from the default to the enb, or get the version for distant fog?

also anyone got any experience with THE ENHANCER VR ENB? i'm wondering if i should pick the ENB or default version for this.

Been using this ever since I bought SkyrimVR and I'm absolutely happy with it!

Just a note - I'm not even 100% sure if this is related to Onyx or not - several people noticed that Splashes of Storms / Splashes of Storms VR only shows splashes during light rain, nothing during medium or heavy rain.

Like I said, I'm absolutely not sure if this is even caused by Onyx or not, but apparently, Cathedral Weathers has the same issue, while it's working with Vivid Weathers. I just thought I'd bring this to your attention :)

It's really a problem with the various weather mods. I have onyx myself and Splashes of Storms Vr doesn't work either

The most recent updates to Splashes of Storms and Splashes of Storms VR (and probably to VR Adress Library) fixed this completely for me!

Would it please be possible to make this work with Splashes of Storms VR?
I really wanted that mod to work in my game, so I tried it with Azurite weather. I really liked it at first, but now I miss Onyx so much that I want to go back. That means loosing Splashes of storms though, but Onyx is worth it, however if you could make it work I'd be so happy!
I've asked on the mod page for the Splashes mod as well, but got no answer. I don't know how to make patches myself, so I have to ask others.
