We have had a number of posts recently about users experiencing Infinite Loading Screens (ILS) or crashes at the start of their game. The Legacy Official Patches work just fine with either version of Skyrim Special Edition, 1.5.x or 1.6.x. There are several reasons for why crashing and/or ILS at the main screen can occur but these patches are not one of them.
The most common things that can lead to beginning of game crashes/ILS are:
A mismatch between your versions of Skyrim and SKSE /Address Library
SKSE-dependent plugins that are mismatched with your version of SKSE /Address Library.
Mod and patch version mismatches.
Having the new CC content and trying to run it with the older versions of the CC patches. Remember the Legacy CC patches have never been part of these official patches and are posted on a different page!
Running patches/mods that are missing their master files.
Corrupt file downloads.
It is worth mentioning, that there have been several reports of people who set their Skyrim not to upgrade in Steam and then it happened anyway (yes really), so it’s worth checking your version is not 1.6.x rather than assuming you are on the older version. By the same token, check for CC content.
V6 for Legacy of the Dragonborn is right around the corner, so I thought I would drop a little note for people ahead of that transition to let you know where the patches stand.
When V6 launches, a new Patch FOMOD for V6 will also be released at the same time. A fresh game will be required and you MUST download and install the V6 version of the patch FOMOD.
We will still have the previous version of the FOMOD for V5 listed under old files so long as Legacy V5 still has a download available. The Patch packages will NOT be cross compatible, so make sure you are using the correct version for the version of Legacy you will be using.
Some patches found in V5 will be retired from the V6 patches due mostly to integration of the base mods into Legacy V6 or due to depreciated support. A full list of changes will be available upon release of V6 and the patches FOMOD.
HI whats FOMOD? I see it being referred to but I don't know what that is. I'm confused on the launch date of V6 lol can't tell if its released or not because i don't know if I should be looking for this FOMOD thing. Sorry im not a programmer or modder..(yet) so excuse my ignorance
A FOMOD is a term (from fallout originally) for a mod that is structured so that when you install it, you get presented with choices. V6 is not yet out. Using the download button for this mod, will download the FOMOD. Installing it with Vortex or MO2 will show you the options.
Hi, Loot is telling me thre should be a compatibility patch for 'Audio Overhaul for Skyrim SE'. But its not picking it up... I've enabled the mod and then ran the patcher, but again, no luck. Please could I have any help with this? I've also not spotted this mod amongst the unsupported list. Thanks.
So I ran Arkngthamz and found 2 specters at the end, one of which dropped Irgktchil's Puzzle Cube and Ghartar-Zhir, and after a quick google I saw I needed this mod for the display. I downloaded this, and re-downloaded the LOTD patch to add in the displays. Now I can't get those 2 pieces to go IN the display, auto sort doesn't work and if I click it manually it says I lack the required items
I'm stuck with a problem and I can't find a solution: The Fomod doesn't detect: Deadly Shadow (it doesn't change anything if I use the full version or the Only Solitude DS version) SkyTest Redux (tried re-installing twice, I didn't swap to an esl or so)
Some Fomod let us pick part of them (and disable the esp if we don't use the mod at some point, whatever), but here we don't have a choice ^^' Not detected = no patch
Will a sentinel patch be added at some point? If that's the case, I might as well wait since I've borked my save kinda majorly recently and decided to create a new one.
Aight, gotcha, also now that I think about it, I might as well wait a bit for V6 then, as long as we're not talking about months that is, it requires a new save anyway. Speaking of V6, how far along is it?
Edit: If anyone was wondering LOTD V6 supposedly will be released the 20th of this month alongside all its relevant patches, take it with a grain of salt, but if not that day, it might be around the end of May, maybe beginning of June, I'm definitely holding on playing Skyrim until it comes out now, can't wait btw.
