Exported the Facegen data via CK, any black face bugs should now be fixed for everyone. Tested on a heavily modded game.
As for the voice, I cannot do anything about lowering it, I am considering making a younger (but rugged) version of the Courier, when I have some time to do it.
Updated folder structure as suggested below. The new files now should work as intended, safe to drag and drop/overwrite the previous version. The plugin is unchanged.
I was always of the impression that the courier didn't fight his way around Skyrim, but dodged and weaved and avoided trouble to get around. That's why he needs to be wiry (thin) and wear light clothing (literally no armor) for maximum speed. Couriers in say, WW1 and most wars since ancient times, were always lightly dressed, carried very little (maybe a pistol/dagger) and were always fast; usually young guys who were sports runners before the war. They always avoided trouble wherever possible as getting the message though was of paramount importance.
Ok, so I was having trouble with blackface, and I noticed that the folder structure was missing something that other npc replacers had. So, I attempted to fix it, and it solved the blackface problem for me. Not sure about the whys or hows, but I wanted to post my solution just in case it works for anyone else.
I installed the standard version, but I noticed this should also work for the Provincial Courier version, since it seems to be missing the same folders.
1. Install either main file. 2. Go to meshes/actors/character/facegendata/facegeom, and create a new folder. Name it "Skyrim.esm". 3. Go inside the CourierReplacer.esp folder and copy the nif. Paste it into the Skyrim.esm folder you made. 4. Go to textures/actors/character/facegendata/facetint, and create a new folder. Name it "Skyrim.esm". 5. Go inside the CourierReplacer.esp folder and copy the dds. Paste it into the Skyrim.esm folder you made.
Before doing this, I went in game and the courier had blackface. After adding these folders, I went in game and he looked as intended. Hopefully this solves the problem for someone else, too.
The original mod unfortunately had the BlackFace bug - no matter where it was in the loadorder. With your tip, @DucksAreWaterEddies, the black face disappeared. Thanks a lot for sharing the solution!
there's already a Skyrim.esm folder in both of those destinations. should i make another one or overwrite the nif and dds files in there with the ones from the Courier Replacer.esp folder?
Blackface bug is definitely fixed, I tested it on a 600+ mod save :) Must be something on your end, you can try and export FaceGen via the Creation Kit for it to suit your particular mod setup. (it is not only body mods than cause black face bug)
I also have the black face bug. Downloaded it a few times, tested it in various places in my load order, no conflict according to SSEedit and I'm not familiar enough with the Creation Kit to sort it out. Shame really, its a great idea. The default courier looks like he is fresh out of high school.

Something seems to be wrong with the Nexus. I can't download this file no matter what I do. It just stays at PENDING forever. I already finished downloading several other 300MB+ mods I loaded after this and this is the only thing left in the queue. *sigh* is it too much to ask for a non-wimpy looking courier?
Anyway it finally downloaded.... I'd like to say that Darkface is still an issue for me. I'm using the version for Provincial Courier.
Can you check whether it is overriden by any mods in SSEdit? Also it might be best if you could export the FaceGen via the Creation Kit to match your load order.
Sorry mate, download issues are on the backend side and should be addressed by the Nexus site owners. I do not have any authority over file delivery whatsoever :I
I am also getting the black face bug. I loved the concept here and really want to use this. The default courier has always annoyed the hell out of me. I just hate his appearance. I am using "Provincial Courier" as well should I load your mod before Provincial?
I have tried using NifOptimizer AND using the standard version with Provincial Courier turned off. Still getting a black face no matter where in my load order I put your mod.

Looks good anyway.
