I found a bug. While swimming in Solitude by the rocks I noticed I would almost "glitch" swim normal speed for a second if I touched the rocks then the speed was reduced back to the mod level. I think it's the transition from "standing" to swiming where it glitches a bit
I like the idea of the mod, but how are you supposed to effectively swim across anything? I was north of Dawnstar and had to swim a 30m section of water. By the time I reached where my entire upper body was out of the water, I was "drowning". It seems you just can't recover stamina at all while in water?
Amazing idea. Never get it to work together with Sink and Swim, somehow my swimming speed was always like 0. Checked conflicts and couldn't see anything with the Realistic Swimming patch. I'll do another check this evening. Endorsed!
Hello, the mod is great, thank you very much for it. But I have some difficulties. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will help me overcome them =) I really liked the realism that I, in heavy armor and a huge backpack, would almost instantly go to the bottom, choke, have to take off the weight to do a swim, or,, saddle a horse. ..But. It looks absolutely strange that a drowning person freezes and stops moving, even if there is only a little distance left to the shore. Moreover, even when you are naked, you are simply carried away by the current and you are finished. I tried to use the adrenaline mod, which gives stamina and its regeneration if health is reduced to 30%, but it seems that it only works in battle, or does not work at all, I don’t know. Please advise what can be changed so that it is possible to at least continue to swim to save your life (there is something similar in the game Valheim), if the character has no cargo, or throw away the cargo and swim these unfortunate couple of meters to the shore? The mod is very attractive, but it gave me hydrophobia 8)) Someone please help
To swim long distances, you pretty much have to be naked (a dagger and some regular clothing is fine) + use something like a soup (or better yet, Beef Stew). Potions of Stamina are good as well.
The reason you start slowing down is because you are running out of stamina. Once you have 0 Stamina left, you are exhausted = you start to drown + simply drift to your death.
Things like 'Adrenaline Rush' or Potions of Stamina Regeneration is that they only increase your staminaratemult value....which doesn't help while swimming.
*The more weight you have, the harder it is to swim = your stamina consumption is increased.
Thank you, I understood this in practice) in SSEEdit I slightly adjusted the percentage of speed reduction at minimum endurance to suit myself so that the adrenaline effect appeared and the character did not freeze in place. when you realize that you can die - although you have no strength, but you want to survive (Dovahkiin cannot die without a fight), with the last of your strength you still swim. If this happened far from the shore, this will not help, but if the shore is nearby, this allows me to swim to the minimum health and escape. Your mod is very cool, now I can’t play without it. Thanks for this and for the answer. My question is closed =)
Curious, does this completely negate the original breath-holding mechanic? Dynamic Breath makes it scale with your stamina so that would be a cool mechanic to pair with this imo.
I was also curious if the damage to your health is easily customizable? I don't mind the concept but if the drowning is controlled by Dynamic Breath I'd prefer it to take over, or maybe just -1 damage to health instead of the -7. This basically makes walking into water a deathtrap in my current game, which is mostly fine due to Frostfall keeping you from swimming most of the time anyway. I do seem to recall the old Movement and Stamina Overhaul by Apollodown had an effect that pulled you under when swimming and stamina was at 0, that could be a cool alternative to the health damage. Or even just no damage at all, then you're just stuck floating until you reach shore or go under and drown.
-You swim without taking damage on the surface as long as you have stamina remaining.
-You start to down on the surface when your stamina reaches 0.
-You swim underwater without drowning as long as you have 'breath' left on the vanilla 'hold breath' timer AND have stamina remaining.
-You drown underwater if your 'hold breath' timer runs out, or you run out of stamina.
-Your stamina consumption is tied to your inventory weight. Swimming with very little on = very little stamina loss (can completely cancel with Beef Stew in fact).
-Your swim speed is tied to to your inventory weight. Swimming while carrying very little = vanilla swimming speed.
Ok, thanks for clarifying! So this should (in theory, of course) play nicely with the other mod? Haven't been able to truly test this as my game has stamina based on skills instead of the normal leveling up, so it starts out pretty bad for most characters and gets pretty potent if they level into warrior skills and drowning is a constant early game issue. But if it works as stated, that should become a non-issue for most characters at some point or another, or of course I could spec them into something leaning that way intentionally.
I'm looking for a mod that lets me drown NPCs, since that seems like a pretty significant oversight by Bethesda.... but I only found these two mods for drowning myself faster.
Considered it...but implementing it would be a nightmare. Can't assign ability to all actors = slaughterfish/mudcrabs/fish and such would all drown.......those 2 dragons that hide under the water in Dawnguard might drown too lol!
Woops, my bad! I didn't use SPID for this mod......for some reason I thought I had (some of my other mods use SPID).
Soooo, if you wanted to use SPID + in the SPID file, you added the drown ability to all 'ActorTypeNPC' = you would get what you are after! So only NPCs would be able to drown (when stamina is at 0) + would get the slow swim movement penalty + stamina drain while swimming.
*Obviously these effects would apply to the PC as well!
I forgot I had this mod and restarted a playthrough of Skyrim. I was so confused as to why I was literally swimming an inch a second. Then I died because of no stamina.
If you are swimming, and you tire to the point that your stamina reaches 0 = you start to drown (like real life).
Things to also remember about this Mod: -your swimming speed is decreased by default (no more vanilla torpedo speed swimming)! -your carry weight load also affects your swim speed! -your stamina decreases faster the heavier your carry weight load!

*With Survival Mode enabled, freezing water is still an issue.

Anyway, just works on the PC!
Yeah, okay... complicated.
