This is a great mod. Good complimentary with Reading Is Good. I've been using that mod for so long that skill books are the only ones I look for. Now there's a reason to get the other books as well. Thank You.
awhh... there were still a few things i'd have loved to see be added to this mod. 1. The quest patch and 2. re-reading book for xp patch.
after so many months modding I think it's time I learned how to make mods/patches myself because soo many mods get close to perfection but are only a few hours of work away from being truly complete... sad.
Your comment is what I find sad . a script get activated on opening so you can have only one script . go in and removed the books from the esp with xedit or learn scripting ....
I believe I've excluded all quest and skill books, so my mod shouldn't be causing this issue... but if you let me know which book(s) are having this issue, I can double check! (And which version of my mod you're using)
Vanilla version. What I remember it was the Lost Legends, The Legend of Red Eagle, The Aetherium Wars and Deathbrand that weren't doing their usual stuff. Didn't test every quest related book.
I noticed this as well. You can use xEdit to add the quest starting scripts back into these books. Scripts that were removed are for; Vanilla - "An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim", "The Legend of Red Eagle" and "Lost Legends" Dawnguard - "The Aetherium Wars" Dragonborn - "Ahzidal's Descent" and "Deathbrand"
The simplest method would be to just use xEdit to load this mod, find those books mentioned above and remove the books from this mod. I suppose you could also try dragging and dropping the vanilla scripts into this mod, but I haven't tested how that works out with the scripts this mod includes for those books.
This mod is one I enjoy a lot, though I had an idea for an extension to it. Reading spell books could grant skill XP for whichever skill governs the spell, so reading a Tome of Firebolt would grant Destruction xp, reading a Tome of Stoneskin would grant Alteration xp, etc. This would make sense, since learning a spell would expand upon your knowledge in a school of magic.
I love this concept. If you like more lore-friendly material that could benefit from this mod there is one called ESO Books at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus, basically it's all the stuff from/in Elder Scrolls Online up to Markarth DLC. It's sensible for the Arcanaeum to have it, after all. 4000 books and such. No, I did not just go spastic. I know, I know, a lot of work. But, damn...
I'll repeat my Bug Report here. Your mod makes scripts that trigger after books, such as the Quest trigger for "Legend of Red Eagle" not trigger. I have to disable the mod to get the quest to trigger.
Hmm, interesting! I just generally ignore already-read books (by noticing the little eyeball icon) ... but I'll have to see if I can recreate that bug by opening the same book found in a different location. Perhaps there's a way to patch it, but I'll need to tinker first!

Vanilla -
"An Explorer's Guide to Skyrim", "The Legend of Red Eagle" and "Lost Legends"
Dawnguard -
"The Aetherium Wars"
Dragonborn -
"Ahzidal's Descent" and "Deathbrand"
Any chance of a simple guide on how to add the scripts back?
Many thanks
*I mean each book has several copies placed throughout the game. Each copy of the same book gives you additional experience = dumb!
