It is a little wonky, but you have to equip/un-equip a helmet to get it started when loading a save, and every once in a while if it stops working during gameplay.
With the other option being a mod that uses scripts heavily, I'm really liking this one. It adds a ton of immersion, as the blank zombie-like stare in whatever direction you're facing that the vanilla game uses really is so, so bad.
It does not seem to work for me. I originally had this plus AllGud and saw that it didnt work together. I deactivated AllGud and it still does not work. Any idea on how to make it work??
Would you be interested in making an option to make the dragonborn look at the screen when idle? As if they are looking at us... I saw it in Black Desert Online and it really helped me to connect with the character. It feels like they know you are playing when they look right into your eyes.
I would not do that anyway, but even if you present this idea to another modder - It's not a trivial task overall.. An actor can look at the Actor only.
So, to implement this feature we need to have a fake invisible actor that is aligned with a screen at the right moment and at the right angle. Since the scripting system is not synced with the graphics engine, there would be delays and inaccuracies. Besides - there is no way to get the camera angle and the camera distance from the script. Not sure about the SKSE though.
Anyway, a lot of work for such a small feature. Not worth it in my opinion.
I know this is 3 yrs old, but if anyone was looking for the same thing, this mod might be what your looking for, released in 2019 https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19189 (mod name - look at what you see)
I will say after playing this game exhaustively (Time Stamp for STEAM tells me 2215 Hours but It is higher than that) and during that time I have mostly used this mod and it is one of the few that I never merge (even though you can safely). If there was a top ten mods for either Skyrim I would nominate this around 3-4.
For being as simple as it is build wise (I read you describe it) it had a lot of work put into it obviously but utility wise this mod should really have been a feature in Vanilla, not only did you fix that but it really works quite well. Even the No Look Around Need to Sit glitch does not hurt it at all since the bar setting gives one many places to rest yourself. It works almost perfectly except in high traffic low FPS areas but those only happen to me after extended playing sessions.
Excellent mod overall and one of my top 10 of all Skyrim mods. Excellent work as usual. Thank you very much for your work.
Could this by any chance be a faulty mesh? YOu know, this "mesh explosion" that occurs on some meshes that aren't optimized properly, for example. If so, you could check your body mod.
Is there a way to make it so that npcs only trigger headtracking when they're close to you? It looks stupid how the character is turning his head left and right all the time, but makes a lot of sense when buying something for example.
Go to Gameplay > Settings and look for fAIMaxHeadTrackDistanceFromPC record, which is set to 2000 by default.
I recommend you set it to 400, but you can go as low as 75, if you want NPCs to ignore your presence. Beware, though, for a value lower than 200 will stop merchants from acknowledging your presence over the store front. Also make sure that the number is higher than whatever is in fAIMinGreetingDistance, which is 150 by default. Otherwise NPCs will greet you before turning their heads. You can lower this number down to 75 as well, if you want to make NPCs greet you less frequently. If you do so, you don't need mods like "No NPC Greetings" anymore.
Go to File > Save As a Plugin and close CK. If you use MO, make sure it's activated in your load order.

Check the problem with other mods you have.
