    Sticky
ITEMS IN THIS STICKY ARE BEING MOVED TO https://fusroguide.blogspot.com/p/gameplay-tips.html

    TROUBLESHOOTING STICKY

Items are in no particular order. Items in this sticky will be occasionally shuffled off to the troubleshooting section of the downloadable guide.

    ---------------------------------------

    Battle for Windhelm

If you get to Windhelm, hear the general's speech, and then nothing happens, nobody moves and you can't get into the city, open the console, type "tcl", fly through the closed gates, type "tcl" again in the console, run to the palace, enter the palace, leave the palace, and enter the palace again. Hopefully, the general will appear and the quest will proceed. You'll have skipped the battle, but if you have this glitch, you have no choice.

Incidentally, don't try to save your game from the time you arrive at Windhelm for the battle until a certain someone is executed, or your game may CTD without saving. This may only apply to the glitch above, but I don't know for sure.

    ---------------------------------------

If you don the Nightingale hood and notice that... YOU HAVE NO HEAD, use Wrye to move imp_helm_legend.esp to the bottom, above your merged patch, then rebuild the merged and bashed patches.

See screenshot in image tab for clarification on being headless.

    ---------------------------------------

I just tried to play out the civil war before starting the whole Dragonborn quest.

    Well, you can't.

You need to help Balgruuf with his "dragon problem" before he'll give you the time of day on taking sides in the war. So if you didn't swing by Helgen already, trying to deliver the message to Balgruuf will trigger completion of your Live Another Life quest, which is totally immersion breaking.

    Absolutely love this thank you!

I was thinking about exchanging the textures for 2020 Parallax by Pfuscher, if I did would that cause any problems? I'd essentially just have to remove Nobles Skyrim and Cathedral Landscapes to replace yeah?

I've been away for some time, but I don't think there would be any issues. Let me know if there are?

If you ask in the forums (I don't have broadband where I live so I'm slow enough to respond that you probably have by now) I'm sure you'll get some good advice. :)

    Hello Everyone!

I hope you are all doing well.

I have an Issue while using this guide... the issue is simple... I don't know what is leveled item list / leveled items... the guide says to remove any if found after expanding the merged patch. I am not new to modding, but definitely new to SSEEdit, Wyre Bash, and LOOT. For the past week I have read different modding guides and decided to stick to this simple and nice one. Anyways back to my problem, what is leveled item list / leveled items? Can someone elaborate, it will help better with pictures or video even.

It's just a container for leveled items within the game. (For example, an ebony sword you found in a locked chest because you're level 40 or whatever.) Since the bashed patch is better at handling this and the bashed patch comes after the merged patch, it's redundant to have it in the merged patch.

I agree that screenshots and/or a video could be helpful. I'll try to do one or both of those next time I update this guide.

Thanks for the reply. I understood what you mean but how to detect them? Like I expand the merged patch, right? Where will the leveled item appear? What will it say? Numbers? Words? Like can you give an example?

In the merged patch ---> Armor, 020050D0 is highlighted in red, says editor id : DLC1DawnGuardHeavyArmor , name : Dawnguard Full Helmet.

Under USSEP.esp, imp_helm_leged.esp, and Merged Patch.esp, it all has "25% less damage from Vampire attacks and Drain Life spells while wearing a complete set of Dawnguard armor."

      Is this a leveled it?

P.S. You asked us in the Guide to download Landscape Overhaul HD "then" Skyland. But, Landscape Overhaul HD's author, luxor, decided to merge/compile it in to one huge mod : https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/29885?tab=description . Please give me an opinion, This new mod or Skyland? To me it seems luxor's mod is better, but it is too complex for me.

Oh, don't try to find individual items. After expanding the merged patch in SSEEdit, you should see an item called "Leveled Items." Delete it by right-clicking on it and selecting delete. Don't delete Leveled NPC!

It's entirely up to you whether to use the new mod or Skyland. You can even use both and decide which one will overwrite assets they have in common. Many of the texture mods in the guide operate this way.

      Hope this helps. :)

I did it. Just to be sure, the one where it has the (+) symbol to expand right?

Btw... will it cause any problems if I download Skyrim 2020 Parallax by Pfuscher and overwrite?

P.S. The merged patch says 253 out 261 plugins have been added because it exceeds the amount of plugins or something like that. It created the merged patch but when I expand it there is nothing there...

That's right. It has a plus symbol.

Did you make sure to exclude all the plugins from Legacy of the Dragonborn when making your merged patch? If there are too many plugins in the merged patch, it will be empty. The Legacy of the Dragonborn plugins don't need to be included.

I made a mistake by including them... all is good in the end, the guide works perfectly! Truly amazing work, got to hand it to you.
I just duplicated the original profile and made a testing one. I'm testing if Pfuscher's mod will work well, as well as adding misc retexture project and soon ENB for cathedral weathers and seasons... checking if they will work.

      Thanks!

Thanks for this guide. I'd been playing Skyrim on a 2006 vista machine for years, and last year Steam let me know they weren't supporting vista (like everyone else) anymore, so no more Skyrim. I just got a new computer, and your guide has been very helpful getting me back into the swing of modding.

By the way, in step 5 of 05 Patching, we're supposed to select everything but the bashed patch and hit okay. I found that wasn't possible. After watching the videos for SSEEdit, I think the problem is that we actually need two copies of SSEEdit in vortex, one with the command line for Quick Auto Clean for cleaning, and one without for step 5 of 05. (I'm using the online version in the forums)

This really does need to get updated in the tutorial text. I seriously spent a solid 45 mins re-reading your tutorial and scouring google trying to figure out why I couldn't select multiple mods. It wasn't until I found this post that I realized what was happening.

Aside from all that... it's a damn good tutorial. I used to mod heavily back in 2014-15 and there really wasn't anything like this back then (atleast to this extent). So To come back to modding in 2019 and pick up a completely new organizer, this is truly a lifesaver. Thank you.

So how did you get past that step? I'm stuck there.

Edit: Do you just download sseedit again as the guide said, or add it again (somehow) as a tool? I need clarification, I'm a newb at modding.

I am getting a message stating mod rules contain cycles. A very useful message and one I have seen numerous times before while modding. However, when I click on the mods that are in the cycle, I do not get the diagram that normal shows up. I can close Vortex, then open it and I can sometimes get this work. Any reason why Vortex is doing this? I do not remember ever having this problem before? This is suppose to be the easy way to fix cycle rules, and it is quite annoying to have to find each mod in conflict under the mange rules tab as this so much longer, and is so much easier to make it worse.another issue I noticed was after flipping a rule to try and resolve the issue, when I finally get the diagram to finally open again there are arrows pointing both ways between mods. This is a tad bizarre since if a mod is loading before and you flip the rule, it should load after, and not be never with.  Cheers,

I found that it helps to edit the guide with the load order as you go down the list to avoid these.  I was running into them as well, but once I started copying the load order list, it eliminated them.  the only issue I had was with the placement of Solitude HD

      Load Order
      Skyrim Flora Overhaul
      Solitude HD
      CleverCharff's Solitude HD
      Gemling
      SMIM
      Vivid Landscapes
      SSE Texture Pack
      Quality World Map
      Skyrim Flora Overhaul
      Enhanced Ore Veins
      Rustic Clutter Collection
      Riften HD:
      Rustic Windows

      issue Load CleverCharff's Solitude HD:
before SMIM <- SMIM is before SSE Texture Pack
                            after Solitude HD
after SSE Texture Pack <- This is installed after SMIM - I placed it before SMIM as it seemed most logical with the other placements
                            before Rustic Windows

Actually, SMIM should be overwritten by everything else because everything else will improve upon it. But I am definitely down with whatever gets it working.

Thanks for the excellent load order idea. I will do it that way on the next update. :)

Every guide witch begins with "install NNM" is a big fail. MO is much better in any meaning.

I actually much prefer MO, but I wrote this guide for NMM for two reasons: 1. MO doesn't seem to be maintained (correct me if I'm wrong) and 2. It's what a lot of people are already using and I want the guide to be accessible to people of all skill levels.

Good looking guide and well written. I've been using Mod organizer 2 and it's been flawless so far. Also for texture packs I'm curious if anyone's using Skyrim Realistic Overhaul SE v1.8? It's almost 10Gb's of textures though for those with a slow connection (https://www.moddb.com/mods/skyrim-realistic-overhaul) but thankfully is in 4 seperate packs. Personally I also like to run Frostfall w/Campfire, Hunterborn, iNeed, and Realistic Needs and Diseases. Since I haven't used your guide as yet I'll repost if I come across any issues or if anyone has used these mods within this guide then I'd be curious about any issues. Thanks again for a cool and informative guide.

Thanks for the kudos. Last I read, Chesko is planning a new release of Frostfall so that it works well with SKSE64. No planned date, as far as I know. I usually have the other realism mods, except for Hunterborn, in my guide.

I hear ya,,, textures use a lot of resources and an ENB even more so. Fortunately before video card prices climbed again I grabbed a Gigabyte Waterforce Xtreme 1080 Ti from Amazon for $800. I had no interest in the RTX series. Just like a new car,,, never ever buy the first year model cuz it's got all the recalls n bugs lol So currently running lots of 4K textures alongside SRO with a complement of 300 mods total and this card stays nice and cool (52-60C) with frames never below 57 fps. I used a mixture of Audiodefs/Nordic/PredCaliber guides and picked and choosed what I wanted. So far so good but I did omit Frostfall because there seems to be conflicts and I'm tired of spending more time troubleshooting than playing....

It doesn't really matter what order you install them in as long as you install any applicable patches and go through the sorting process described in the guide. Also make a note of what these mods say, if anything, about where they belong in your load order.
