About this mod
This mod adds a spell called Starlight, an expert-level Alteration spell. It creates a large, bright orb of light which slowly floats upwards into the sky, or until it hits the ceiling.

This little mod was inspired by the time I spent in Blackreach. I had been in the habit of casting Magelight at the ceiling of the dungeon to illuminate the room. If you've spent any time in Blackreach, you'll understand why that tactic wasn't working.
Starlight is an expert-level Alteration spell. It creates a large, bright orb of light which slowly floats upwards into the sky, or until it hits the ceiling. It's intended for use in large cavernous dungeons or outdoors if you're using a mod that darkens the nights. Both the spell tome and a staff of starlight can be purchased from Tolfdir. The tome and staff have also both been added to leveled lists, so you will be able to find them as treasure.
I've set this mod as version 0.9 because I would still like to find a way to set a limit on the number of orbs that can exist at a time. The limitation on the "impact" orb exists and is easy to do, but it doesn't limit the number of orbs that can be in flight. Though is is rather cool looking to launch a half-dozen of these and see them slowly drift into the sky, it also glitches the light rendering on geometry more and more with each orb you cast. If anyone knows how to limit the number of in-flight spell projectiles to one, rather than just limiting the number of "impacts" to one, please get in touch with me. If I can fix it, I'll keep version 0.9 available for people who like lots of glowing light orbs and don't care as much about light rendering glitches.
- This mod contains a single esp file, with no additional data, scripts, or assets. It is safe to install and uninstall as you please. If you are new to installing Skyrim mods, please refer to the Nexus Guide.
- This mod modifies Tolfdir's merchant inventory and leveled lists for Alteration Spell Tomes and Staffs. If you have a mod which looks like it may conflict with this, I can look at making a patch.
