Hi everyone. Having taken stock of everything in my life at the moment, I've decided to go on indefinite hiatus from Skyrim modding. I'm letting you all know so that you will understand that I won't be responding to any comments, bug reports, or messages for the foreseeable future. If you'd like to make a third party patch or translation of one of my mods, you may feel free to do so and release it.
I have appreciated all of the affection many of you have shown towards my work, and hope that many more will in the future.
Thank you. I've relied on Daedric Dawnbreaker, which adds a lighting effect like a torch but twice as bright around you if you have dawnbreaker, but even that doesn't' really help much in Blackreach. This is a huge help.
Funny little bug I see when I use it. Every so often when I cast it, a copy of it gets "stuck" on one of my followers - always the same one (Aviendha from the Wheel of Time mod) - then until the spell expires she has like a super powered candle light spell hovering over her head. It survives zoning, and lasts exactly the period of the spell form of this mod - it is not a simple candlelight (far brighter) and she is not a caster. Enemies do not seem to detect it, which is a bit immersion breaking when you are doing stealth attacks with a floodlight on at the time lol - they do react if I cast it in their presence though (perhaps the casting sound). It doesn't happen often, I think it is if I cast it when she is more or less right underfoot. Edit - it is a duplicate - the room one still is present, she somehow gets a second one
Love this mod, so simple and useful! My little constellation of starlights helped a lot while I was scouring the lower levels of Sightless Pit for scattered loot.
I often get asked how people can donate to support me, and that's appreciated, but there's people who need donations and support far more than me. So if you've ever considered donating, I hope you'll consider lending a hand to the victims of systemic racism in America and the people fighting against it, with their lives and freedom at stake, right now.
It would be great if this spell could be modified, for combat use? Faster ascend, and if you manage to hit it with bound arrow, it falls down and strikes closest enemy ( damage higher depending on latitude)
Very cool concept that I haven't seen covered in another spell pack. Feels like a natural fit to the current lighting progression.
Thoughts on adding it to the levelled list through scripts as seen in EnaiRim and Heavy Armoury, to reduce the need for bash/smash patches? (I only suggest this because I think it could increase the popularity of your mod, not because I have any aversion to patching my game.)
Thank you! I don't know how to do what you're describing, but it does sound interesting. :) However, wouldn't that make the mod more likely to corrupt save games if uninstalled?
Hm... that's not something I've ever heard. You can corrupt your save game by uninstalling mods mid play-through (the game registers the object reference ID when the mod is installed and, if there are any remaining references to objects in the mod or other mods' object reference IDs are no longer in the same place because your load order has changed, that can cause corruption).
Poorly optimize continuous scripts can cause save bloat and, optimized or not, continuous scripts can cause script lag, but neither of these are an issue for one-time firing scripts.
If you do end up picking up a bit of scripting for one of your bigger mods and decide that you want to give it a go, EnaiSiaion's stuff tends to be open source, so you could easily check how he did it and modify the script for your own needs.
That's a great tip, thank you. I was under the impression that any script included in a mod could potentially cause problems if you uninstall it and load a saved game where the script had been running.
I am working on something that involves editing the schedules and inventories of existing NPCs, so of course every mod that modifies their face will conflict with it. I'd like to learn how to do these changes via script to avoid having to make ten compatibility patches, and then ten more to resolve the conflict between those patches.
