It depend on mod. Like Sekiro Combat S will not works well with True Directional Movement due to the TrueHUD doesn't compatible with SkyHUD, make the UI of Sekiro missing and works incorrectly.
Yes, but TDR is incompatible with Freerun and MOMO Jump so it would be really nice to find an alternative that doesn't override player jump animation triggers.
For those guys wondering how to work it out. First Download the Original mod here on nexus and Install it, then, Download the SimpleLockOn Release from github.
Find 'NasGorTelorCeplok' Comment (On his comment find the link to the release or.............., here it is Download: https://github.com/NasiRawon/SimpleLockOn/releases :p)
Now Manually Copy the .dll and .ini from the mod github release
For beginners wanting to find where to paste the .dll and .ini, Open the mod with Rar or Zip, download if you don't have it yet (Either WinRar or 7zip) Now look carefully to what folders it directs you to, usually its - Data/xx/xx/xx.dll.esp.ini.bsa.pex.nif.etc Please Find it on your own, so that next time you won't ask to where to paste the Files.
you could also try this - Open SkyrimSE folder, now search on the folder (usually at top right), type simplelockon, if it shows up, Right Click then open file location.
Now "In-game", in the console screen ~ , type ( setlockonvar uhotkey "Code Key") Replace Code Key with the representing decimal for desired keybind. Look Code here - https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Input_Script#DXScanCodes
Just downloaded the mod today and it didn't work. Went to the posts to see if people had solutions. This post was very helpful mainly because of the link to the github. Thanks for reposting the github link so I didn't have to dig as much and also for providing a link to the dxscancodes. Everything works great now!
Thanks for all the help!!! One question tho...since there is not mod config menu and u have to set the hotkey manually...how do you write the key "left alt" in the console? I tried Lalt but that did not work.
In MO2, open the mod in Explorer, by just right-clicking, once in the folder choose-> SKSE -> Plugins and then replace the .dll and .ini with the one from github. Then follow the console instruction above.
If you're using mod organizer, open the original mod in explorer. (right click on the mod) and replace the .dll files with the ones from the github. For those that aren't clear about the Code Key.

Use the second number, 258. Not 0x102. The result would be ((setlockonvar uhotkey 258))
you are the man the myth the legend, to cut it short for those having issues 1) DL the original file 2)DL the file from github 3)Replace the DLL and ini file from the orig with the github version 4)Look Code here - https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Input_Script#DXScanCodes 5)code will be 3 digit format i.e. 268 6)~ , type ( setlockonvar uhotkey "Code Key") 7)setlockonvar uhotkey 268 Credit to the main person who explained this info!
I see a particular issue about the console spitting out the script not found, I'm having the same issue, would be VERY helpful if someone could see as to why this is and what the solution is.
I did everything exactly as written, but it's as if it just doesn't even exist. Using Vortex myself, Vortex seems to store the mods elsewhere, but in theory replacing the files should still work. Doesn't seem so, however. Please help.
don't mean to be rude but what is the name of those bloody files, i only have .cpp .h .md file extensions in the folder that i unarchived from the zip on github. thx in advanced.
Ok so from what I've experienced. You need to install and enable the simple lock on mod. Then you copy the plugins from the file you downloaded and paste them into the plugins file in the mod you enabled. Then use the command ingame. At least that's how it worked for me. I use Vortex, so I'm not sure how to make it work when you installed it differently.
Thank you it works! I put it on left dpad with setlockonvar uhotkey 268. Works perfect.
Install mod from nexus and replace .dll and .ini with replacements saved here https://github.com/NasiRawon/SimpleLockOn/releases (In Mo2 double left click the simple lock on mod in your left pane to open the pop up window. Click on "open in explorer" in top left of window. Open SKSE/PLUGINS where you will see simplelockon.dll and simplelockon.ini. Delete them and replace with the files of the same name from the github link above.)
open console in game with ~`
type- setlockonvar uhotkey "3 digit code key" and enter
Supported GamePad buttons:

You know, it would be super awesome if somebody would bother replying to or even acknowledging the people - like me - that are getting a "script not found" error instead of the 4,098,386th "dUdE yOu'Re ThE gReEtEsT eVaR +1+1+1+1+1 uwu". Literally anything remotely helpful would be GREATLY appreciated, but as it stands I'm consigning this to the bin of mods that no longer function.
sorry to say, did everything exact as you described, still didn't work. just tells me the script command was not found. oh well thanks for at least explaining it.
okay so bottom line everybody you can try to make this work if you want to, but the experts™ say that you should just use this mod instead: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/51614
yeah it is less light weight and yeah i have no idea if the lock on targeting works in first person, but supposedly it will actually work
edit: stumbled upon this first person lock on fix for mod i linked above: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/87632?tab=files

Thanks.
is there any "resolved" or unresolved file conflicts?
in the console command after typing setlockonvar, the result is "script command "setlockonvar" not found.
It's a pity. this mod has potential (because it is simple and i prefer to keep thing simple).
Well, it was fun while it last.
First Download the Original mod here on nexus and Install it, then,
Download the SimpleLockOn Release from github.
Find 'NasGorTelorCeplok' Comment (On his comment find the link to the release or.............., here it is

That's it, Enjoy
special thanks to NasGorTelorCeplok :D
Edit: I managed to do it , thank you .
How do I do that? Is it from the github page or the downloads folder?
where do you put the file????
first, you want to download the mod on the nexus
install the mod however you want (mod manager or manually)
then you want to download the mod on the github link
extract files from the github mod using winRAR or 7zip (they're free, just look them up and download them. it doesnt matter which one you get)
open up the extracted mod 'till you get to the folder with the .ini and the.dll
simply copy the .ini and .dll files and paste them in the plugins folder in your sse directory (Skyrim Special Edition > Data > SKSE > Plugins)
once the files are pasted, open up skyrim and use the console command "setlockonvar uhotkey "Code Key"
replace "code key" with any number from this site: https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Input_Script#DXScanCodes
the number you enter will determine what key will activate the lock on
!setlockonvar uhotkey!
My "S" Key does not work and i can't get to make may on-screen keybord to function with Skyrim, even in windowed mode
For those that aren't clear about the Code Key.
