I found a fix! So I'm using Vortex and it doesn't use the SkyrimPrefs.ini in the Skyrim game folder. It uses the prefs under C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition. In there are 3 SkyrimPrefs.ini files. Close Vortex, delete the ones ending in baked and base. Open the remaining SkyrimPrefs.ini and set your resolution there. I hope that helps!

My savior, I'm using NMM and could not get this to work. Simply changing the resolution in the SkyrimPrefs.ini in C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition after i followed the steps (SKSE->SkyUI->Widescreen Fix) it worked. Thank you!
4 years of posts and no one has come forward and said "Do this" . The cat from 2022 with his "fix" was ignoring that the launch format matters. Using an SKSE short cut from the skyrim directory utilizes the prefs file there. Using vortex uses the folder from documents/my games.
Beth ini resolves the game issues eay enough, but this problem is the UI, not the window. SOMETHING is overwriting the widescreen patch,. resulting in a stretched UI
You guys below, you have, as I read, 4 different issues, not 1 issue. Dragons I addressed above. Jasonmreeves has the same issue as I. Springbok......has an INI that is at 1980x1200 and his patches are trying to stretch that. He should have used Bethini to resolve it.
SO...AFTER FOUR YEARS....You think we can get a mod savant to offer us a "This conflicts with this, so that is why" so people like myself do not have to Disable 1000+ files ?? :) It worked with an essential pack installed, so that's at least 168 I dont have to disable.....joy
This still doesn't work for me. No matter what ini settings I try... windowed borderles, full screen, and all combinations thereof, 3440x1440 just ALWAYS chops off SKYUI ... character creation and all in game SKYUI components. It's like the game scales, but SKYUI doesn't. I tried deleting the baked and base files mentioned in another post, but that didn't help either. I triple verified I have all the correct versions / dependencies... no joy. SKYUI never scales properly. This worked fine before with my regular SE, but when I updated to the anniversary edition, did a fresh install and started putting mods back on I just can't get it to scale properly now. I have no other mods installed except SKSE, SKYUI, Unofficial patch, and alternate start. PLEASE HELP!!!! ANYONE!!! Thank you!
Hi. As above. I installed the widescreen fix for SKYUI 5.2 and changed ini settings both in documents directory, game directory and through Mod Manager 2 ini. The UI part works fine, however the game does not work in 21:9 aspect ratio. Is there something I'm missing or could another mod be interfering here? Another interesting thing is that changing the ini in documents folder doesnt do anything to the game, only changes in the Mod Manager 2 ini actually register. I've played with the border setting in the ini as well. Also deleted all ini's and started the vanilla game in order to create the ini's from scratch. Still nothing. Please help. Thanks.
Sounds like the same issue with me. and if i take a screenshot it, its 1920 x 1080 even though its "fullscreen" at 3440 x 1440. And the game looks like complete s#*! too. looks perfectly fine if i set my monitor to 2560 x 1440, but screw that lol.
