Point to the npc you want to add FL, activate the edit mode (in the MCM menu, or through the hotkey) and press E. Finally, deactivate the edit mode (in the same way you activated it before).
If you use any kind of interface mod that changes the [E] Talk to NPC prompt, this mod overwrites it so you can't interact with NPCs in any way except to turn their facelights on and off. It's a shame, because everything else is great it's just intruding into basic UI things it shouldn't mess with.
I crashed when I tried to crouch. It turned out this mod was the culprit. Unticking "Automatic turning off facelight when crouching" fixed the problem.
And after reading posts below, now I realized why I crashed after some conversations. I turned off facelight during conversations too. And that was literally YEARS of putting up with it until I found out why today.
To any of you that come to download this mod for your headshot screenshot. Mod works well, it just doesnt competible with other "light source" mod such as Simple Wearable Lantern, and do not flag this mod as ESL because the mod will always turned off
NPC adding is not working. :( I select the NPC and in the mod NPC selection i see only ==NULL== ==NULL== ==NULL== in the menu. Edit mode On-Off is it does not matter.

Silly question but how to select an NPC?

Any idea?
Perhaps adding light to the entire body would also be nice if not impossible
