For those who skip mod descriptions, I've released an ESP-less version of the mod, Silent Skill and-or Level Up Sounds (ESP-less), which includes options to disable sneak attack sounds too. The ESP version is recommended ONLY if you use mods that edit the vanilla sound elements via a plugin. If you don't have any of those, I highly recommend the ESP-less version. What do you mean malfunctions? More details would be awesome as the ESP only edits a single record that should be 100% consistent. I haven't had any issues so feedback is super welcome. I also highly recommend loading this mod last to anyone who is still hearing vanilla sounds after installing - more often than not, the issue is loadorder related.

For anyone still interested and reading this, I recommend powerofthree's Tweaks to implement this function. There is an INI tweak called "No Attack Messages", which, if set to 2 will disable onscreen text notifications for the sneak attacks.
I don't plan to add this feature to an audio mod, so I highly recommend the above file. Happy gaming! :)
And replace them with a silent sound file with the same name? Is that how? How would I go about getting a silent sound file? (does the sound file time need to match the length of the original wav file? If another way, how?
Just record anything and remove the audio data using Audacity. The new sound file doesn't have to match the original in length. However, it must have the same name, file type and destination as the original. You can figure out these by browsing/extracting the sound bsa located in the data folder.
