The mod doesn't seem to be working, Nix hound doesn't fight. I'm not quite sure what's wrong with the file..
EDIT:
I figured it out, you have to edit the "PetFramework_PetFollowPlayer" Pack. Gotta make sure that the "Ignore Combat" and.... maybe.. "No Combat Alert" flags are unchecked. Cheers guys.
This took me quite a while to find this Pack based off this comment but, the Package is located inside of Update.esm
Open up this nixhound mod in xEdit, then go to packages in Update.esm, then use deep copy as overwrite(with overwriting) of the PetFramework_PetFollowPlayer package into this nixhound mod, and remove the ignore combat + no combat alert flags.
Although that did not actually enable the Nix Hound to fight, instead it just broke its dialogue to where I can't tell it to do anything after following me. In combat it still does nothing and is completely useless.
This mod just seems broken tbh. It's also like over 5 years out of date, that probably has something to do with it. It's weird that the Nix-Hound doesn't just fight by default, I mean what a useless follower. All it does is get in the way and occasionally give you random garbage. Worthless creature.
Hi Joseph! Thanks for the mods. I was wondering if you could help me out with an issue I seem to be having with some of the CC pets. Some, like the Nix Hound, I cannot interact with at all (no dialogue box shows up) and yet the quest completes. Others, like the nymphs in the Saints and Seducers CC mod, I can add as followers but cannot dismiss them. I since made a new save file after installing your patches but the problem persists. Any help would be appreciated!
i can't seem to get the note to show up at the retching netch, is there some condition i haven't met? i'm using Alternate Start, so i have to go to helgen to to finish the Unbound quest (which i did) but is there another hoop to jump through?
Vortex is reporting there's a new version of this even though there isn't, so some meta tag or version number or something might be set incorrectly somewhere.
Awesome. I hope to see UCCU: Pets of Skyrim and UCCU: Bone Wolf in the future! (Well, Rare Curios too, but I'm not sure if that one has any issues that need fixing.)
.. I did that due to USSEP dropping all of the canine files which mostly seem unecessary now ( as its believed Bethesda actually fixed the majority of them for Skyrim SE .. With the exception of this one meshes\actors\canine\animations\wolf_idle_spice.hkx ).
I would be interested to know if that single file in Wolf Howl Fix can still be used along with Nix Hounds ( See this post on AFK Mods )
Currently I am advising people not to use Wolf Howl Fix with Nix Hounds, based on the fact that all of the same files were removed because we believed they all conflicted with Nix Hounds. But maybe it was just the ones reported by yourself, which did not include the wolf howling fix file, and so Wolves howl fix and Nix hounds can actually be used together ???
(I do not wish use any CC mods myself, and so cannot test)
Hello! Yes, Mythicia77 is my name on Bethesda.net - I made both accounts before I started modding and am unable to change the names. I didn't come across that file when I came up with the list on Bethesda.net because it has a different entry on the USSEP changelog, so I didn't notice it had also been changed. Nix-Hounds have their own howl sound effect which, if it works like the other new Nix-Hound sounds, will require the original .hkx file to work. However, since wolves (and therefore also Nix-Hounds) don't howl at all with that file, the sound will never play. Therefore, with your mod, wolves will howl as normal, but Nix-Hounds will howl like ordinary wolves. Without your mod, neither Nix-Hounds or wolves will howl at all. So the choice is therefore up to the player whether they want both wolves and Nix-Hounds to howl like wolves, or for neither of them to howl. It's then up to Bethesda to fix the file so that both howl as they should. I haven't yet had a chance to test all this properly, though, so I could be wrong. Will verify in the next few days.
Thank you :) Its appreciated because if this file does not affect Nix hounds it could go back in the USSEP .. .. If it does though I will keep it as an option for people without Nix hounds
If you have not tested then do not worry about it, I just edited the description so people can find out for themselves and uninstall the mod if it causes nix hounds sound any problems.
Any way you can mod in some new sound effects? :D I think of all the Creation Club content so far, this is the best and really fits in the game well. It just bothers me that the little "yips" the nix hounds make are more or less accurate/make sense but then when they attack you, it's a wolf barking :| lmao. I can kind of disregard it but figured it'd be worth asking if you could mod a different sound in, maybe one of the ash hopper effects?
Hey! There are actually 31 new sound effects for nix hounds added to the game, but they're not playing for a lot of people. It's being investigated over on Bethesda.net (https://bethesda.net/community/topic/200256/nix-hound/65?page=4) but the current working theory is that it could be a conflict with the Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch. Arthmoor is on the case!
Wow, thanks for keeping me in the loop and for the help! I updated to the most recent version of USSEP, but now my wolves do not howl in the wild. No sound is played :/ I reached out to Arthmoor because I'm confused as to why, maybe you might know what the cause is.
all these cc fixes are great, but take up quite a few esp slots. i have the october merge, and would merge the new ones myself, but MergePlugins can't figure out how to link to esl files. is there any way you could make a merge of all your fixes to date? (or tell me how to merge them myself)
Merging the plugins has to be performed manually - that means copying the changes across one by one and re-linking everything up within the merged plugin. It takes ages and is easy to screw up, so I wouldn't recommend it. I have no plans to merge the patches for Nix-Hound and Lord's Mail into the October Pack, because those two CC files crash the CK if you try to load them up in it. Any merge that includes their patches would therefore also crash whenever opened in the CK, which would make any future updates to the pack nigh-on impossible. I could include Dwarven Mudcrab and Shadowrend in the all-in-one merge, but as soon as I merge them, the update process takes more than twice the amount of time if any bugs are reported, so I'd prefer to hold off until the bug reports and requests dry up, and Bethesda stop updating the files.

I have uploaded one of the old fix files from USSEP, the one that just fixes Wolves Howling ..

Thanks again for being so informative :)
