I've had quite a few people ask me recently, so I wanted to make it totally clear:
MCoW doesn't change quests. The only quest related reference that is swapped is the one pointing the Archmage bed to the new one instead of the old one. That's all!
I've been using this mod for a while and totally forgot I wanted to come back to endorse it. It's a very nice light overhaul that fixes everything I thought was missing from the college. I have had no issues with it whatsoever.
Hi! I can't get the scroll crafting to work. I installed a free mod called scroll crafting on the creation club (not the scroll craft mod that costs money). Is this why? I truly don't understand what I'm doing wrong :( I have spell tomes, rolls of paper, even charcoal, an inkwell and a quill (even though the tutorial note didn't mention all of these things). Do you think this is a mod conflict or a bug? I lugged like 50 burned books to the college just to have enough paper to last a lifetime lol.
Edit: I just tried disabling the scroll crafting mod and no change. Am I doing something wrong? the menu for the scroll crafting station from this mod is empty unless I've activated one of the study books (then I can take notes on destruction etc). I'm very confused.
The other scroll crafting you've got wouldn't effect this one, so don't worry about that.
What spell tomes are you bringing to it? The scrolls will only show up if you have the matching base game spell tome on you. Try grabbing the spell tome I've put next to it; candlelight I think it was? If you have that tome on you does it show you can craft scrolls of it?
I was going to say that I finally found a College replacer that didn't need USSEP, but it was kind of the worst of the ones I looked through... then I saw that you included THE ABSOLUTE BEST THING IN THE GAME, the spider scroll crafting station. This is the best out of all Winterhold College mods by a lot. Tysm
Hello. There seem to be a bug that prevents to trigger the quest "Under Saarthal", that is supposed to start right after the introducing quest "First Lessons".
As mentioned, the quest never triggers after Toldfir finishes his speech, and no console commands can overcome this problem: the college of winterhold questline is completely blocked from the start.
Can you please help me solving this? I heard A LOT of people having thesame bug, and also this mod. NO ONE EVER solved this or seems to be interested, like if the college of winterhold were useless.
Any ideas on how to solve this iussue? Help would be REALLY apreciate. Thank you.
This mod doesn't edit the questlines themselves, so I can assure you it isn't caused by MCoW.
If you're using the Unofficial Patch and not using a mod like Not So Fast, or similar (that intentionally delays the quest) I'd check what you have that touches the quest with xEdit. I believe the Editor ID for it is "MG02", so you could find it quick with a search once you've got your whole mod list loaded.
This is very useful. I will download xEdit and try to figure out what is this bug.
I was sure that this mod was NOT the cause, but since DOZENS of people report the SAME bug and NO ONE EVER answered so far, i tried to post here as i'm using this mod too (also to ensure that this is NOT the cause).
I hope someone finally find a solution to this bug, as it makes doing the College of winterhold questline useless.
excuse me, but i could not figure out what is the damn problem with this bug. In vanilla it all starts perfectly.
this is NOT caused by this mod, i know, but does anyone know (for the sake of god) what is causing this bug? A LOT of people experienced it, no solution ever SINCE YEARS.
UNDER SAARTHAL QUEST does NOT start after you complete first lesson, and even if this mod is NOT the cause, this one is THE ONLY ONE related to winterhold that i have installed.
TBH i wanted to play a mage PG but without this questline i'd rather quit. Can somebody please find a solution for this quest? why is it so bugged?
The description has your answer! They're in the same location, except one that is on a small bookshelf instead of the table. Still in the same spot, just a tad bit higher.
I'll look into getting a patch for it. I'm not sure why it edits those candle models though. As far as I remember, they're "cut content" candles that aren't actually used in the game.
Do you remember which mod of Rudy's it was? He has a few, and I don't see the mesh in his Rudy HQ Miscellaneous mod. It's very strange that they'd be edited at all. The candles are literally not used anywhere in the base game.
I just switched the model in xedit by copying a static/moveable static candle that has a base as a new record into a patch, then changing the formID to that of the MCOW candle. Hope that helps.
Well darn. My preferred fix was to put a bottom on the new mesh but he's got closed permissions. As a quick fix I uploaded the original candle in it's own folder so at least the candles will have bottoms again. It's at the bottom of the downloads page under "Miscellaneous".
I really don't know why he updated a candle that the game didn't use, and also didn't match its previous mesh that had a bottom.
my candles are static as well and I use Skyland for textures. I guess they are all changing the candles and it bugs out. Maybe make a new candle entirely?
On the topic of "free loot" are all the stuff in the library area always marked as steal? or later down the quest line do they become available to take for free? I will steal if i must.
The bottom of the description has info on that. You have some other mod that is overwriting my cell header changes. Move MCoW further down in your load order.
I seems found a "not big deal" conflict with other mod... https://i.imgur.com/o0k9rI2.jpg
The book is from Teleport Tomes v2.1.1 by Flawedspirit/Khazikane. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/43666 Your mod and patches just on the last place of Load Order. It's not big deal since normally people will just take the book when they found it but still the book will float on there until taken.
Was just installed this mod for enhanced vanilla CoW experiences and looks good to me, good job. :)
EDIT: Found other float object(s) - The Tomb book just dropped on floor, the note just float - from one of CCs, I do have the All AE patch. https://i.imgur.com/t8DIzG9.jpg
Thanks for the info! It's not a big priority of mine to fix floating books/consumables from other mods that the player is going to pick up anyway.
I'm currently traveling and can't check at the moment but I believe I moved that book from the CC with my patch; but if you installed the patch after you already started your game, that book (and possibly others) might not get moved to their new spots. Some things are persistent once you hit New Game.

Yeah, I guess that may be why because I do install your mod in mid-save, but before I enter any interior cells of WoC. I guess that's still too late...
I just do a test : using console command coc WinterholdCollegeArcanaeum after a new game and I see no floating things in Arcanaeum so yeah, I can say the CC one just false positive, it should works as intended, sorry about that. :)

I'm so happy that you guys have fun with what I worked so hard on.
Your kind words mean everything!

Thank you for making it! =)
