Have you considered improving other vanilla animations, like walk/run/sprint and combat/magic animations? MCO took over and there is really not much choice for vanilla replacers, and those who make (like 2 authors) good stuff don't really preserve vanilla style of the animations.
I had some ideas about making some animations based on combat/non-combat and some simple movements for vanilla animations, such as new attacks or idle poses (without MCO), but the game has so many animations when attacking, one different animation for moving in each direction (MCO replaces all with one), which makes it a bit difficult to create animations.
Yeah Pristine Vanilla Movement is probably the best one if you want something that looks like vanilla animations but isn't bad. I was thinking lately about something like Pristine Vanilla Combat, because vanilla animations aren't bad from the style perspective, they are actually much better than a lot of modded animations. The problem is that they are extremely stiff. But I know that creating it is easier said than done. There are not many people who can pull this off, and even less who have time.
One thing I didn't like about AGO is that its animations apparently increased the bow's fire rate by substantial amount. Thank you for making an alternative.
Yeah, these animations were based on vanilla, so they should work nicely with Quickdraw perk and other archery perks. Also, the bow string should behave properly.
