    INIGO SE is here!

    =============================================================
*** I have a store! Get your Inigo merch HERE! ***
    =============================================================

Get Inigo for the original version of Skyrim HERE. The current SE version is essentially the same as V2.3 for the

original Skyrim, with a few tweaks and minor additions. Check the change log for details.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Update instructions:

    • 1. Make sure he isn't riding, waiting, or relaxing.
    • 2. Save the game using the save menu and then quit to the desktop.
    • 3. Replace the Inigo.esp and Inigo.bsa files with the new versions.
    • 5. For those that use any kind of patcher, ASIS etc, be sure to re-run your patcher.
    • 6. Restart the game and continue from the save you made.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Changes:

    • Inigo has been edited in the new CK, tested in SSE, and cleaned with SSEEdit. Landscape edits are intentional. Inigo does not require cleaning.
    • Inigo's eyes were re-built in line with SSE's new meshes.
    • You can now refresh the aliases of npcs that Inigo can talk to with a new option found in the Talking section of the "Mind if I ask you something?" topic if one of them has been altered by another mod. The new option is "Think about the people you'd like to talk to. Maybe you're forgetting someone?" (Please read the description page section on npc scenes before reporting an issue.)
    • A new way to start the spider conversation has been added for those who use a spider replacement mod. It will now be available once you've settled the matter of your shared past, providing Inigo has fought a number of mudcrabs.
    • All random dialogue quests can be shut down manually with an option that appears at the top of his main topic list if one of them is running when it shouldn't.
    • Countless lines have been re-conditioned (many fired at a slightly different rate in the SE and have been adjusted to take this into account).
    • A new note has been added called "A load on my mind" that triggers his random loading screens when in Inigo's inventory. Remove it if you don't want to see the custom Inigo loading screens.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Placing Mr D on Inigo's belt in V2.4 -

Since an Inigo MCM isn't currently possible for the Special Edition, CdCooley has kindly added a way for you to place Mr D on Inigo's belt without it (on by default). The guy's a genius, what can I say. Use the console command below, replacing the # with the number corresponding with the option you prefer: (0 = not visible, 1 = large back, 2 = small back, 3 = small front)

    setpqv InigoStatus ShowMrD #

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CDcooley has also added a few new commands for recovering Inigo and his gear. See the "I lost him!

I lost his stuff!" section of the FAQ on the description page for details.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch this video guide to learn about Inigo's most important features

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

WARNING: Do not try to control Inigo with options from other mods.
    You will break his brain!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Watch the User Guide Video and read the FAQ before asking a question or reporting an issue.

    ---------------- WHEN IS V3 COMING??? ----------------

I'm currently working on V3 (where Inigo's quest will continue and end). If I have to stop for some unexpected reason this post will disappear. V3 is massive and I've had various setbacks (actors dropping out, my back going, covid, my pc exploding), but work continues.  It will take as long as it takes. If you ask when it's coming out you will just be referred to this message.

    ========================================================================
If you're interested in seeing a little of what I've been up to with V3 check out the Making Inigo V3 playlist.

If you used Wabbajack to install a 'modlist' containing Inigo (especially if you can't talk to Inigo), or if you installed Inigo as part of a 'collection', read this before you post:

It has come to my attention that some 'modlist' creators have made changes to Inigo, without permission from us or warning to us.  That being the case, while I can still answer basic questions about Inigo the way he SHOULD be, if you need any support for any problem involving Inigo, first read the ENTIRE readme/FAQ and any documentation from the 'modlist' author, then read the entire front page of the Inigo mod, then if you still have the question/problem, ask it in whatever support forum the modlist creator provides, as I can not help you when I have no idea what they have done to change Inigo.

One example of this is Total Skyrim Overhaul, which evidently makes modifications to Inigo without Smartbluecat's permission, and without warning to Inigo support, so we get repeated reports of a 'problem' that turns out to be something they changed on purpose.  And we still have no idea what all they changed or why.

An Important Message from Gary and Eolhin
    (Updated July 2022)

Eolhin: Both sections are now updated, spoiler tags added to reduce length to scroll past.  Expand to see the actual updates.

Gary: "Due to a slew of real life trials and troubles neither myself or Eolhin are currently able to reliably monitor these pages for the time being. On my side, this year hasn't been much better than the last, and I can't justify spending the little free time I have here when I could be using it to work on Inigo. Usually the wonderful Eolhin takes care of the day to day Q and A, etc, but she can no longer perform that role for reasons she outlines below. We humbly ask that those in the community who can help others, do so when they are able. Inigo has been out for a very long time and most of the issues/questions you may have will have already been solved/answered many times. If you get stuck, read the front page, FAQ, and sticky posts, search the forums, watch the user guide video, or give it a good old fashioned google. A massive thank you to those who step up and answer what they can in our absence. Stay safe and well, guys and remember to keep an eye on the Smartbluecat YT channel and twitter for news and progress updates."

    "Dearest friends of Inigo,

As many of you know, my life hasn't been the same since covid. The years just before covid were no picnic either, but since the pandemic things got worse... then continued to get worse. Far less security from my day job has meant relying on more freelance which in turn has left me less time to focus on unpaid work like Inigo. Progress is still ongoing, but it has slowed to a crawl. There was a time when I could afford to work on Inigo every day, now I have to grab an hour here or there when I can. There are factors outside of work; real life problems that will remain personal, that have also restricted my free time. That could change at any moment, but for now rent, bills, and family have to come first.

To be honest, I've considered posting that I can no longer work on Inigo; that due to circumstances outside my control, I have been forced to abandon the project (to stop the endless questions filling up my inbox, if nothing else), but that isn't true. No one wants the years of work I've already completed on Inigo V3 to reach fruition more than me, I still get, all too brief, periods where I can fully immerse myself in his development, and his character and story are always on my mind. I do however think it's best for people to understand that I am no longer in a position to dedicate my life to his development. I wish it were not the case, but there you have it.

Despite my apparent lack of progress, I still receive occasional donations. I am beyond grateful for this, and the extra support has really helped. That said, I have a request for those of you who are considering donating explicitly to support Inigo's development: please don't. Given the situation outlined above, I'd much rather people donate for what they've already enjoyed, not what they expect to enjoy in the future. Let's be honest, the way my luck has been going, if I do manage to finish V3 an asteroid will hit the UK just before my finger hits the "publish" button.

In better news, some substantial freelance work fell into my lap a few months ago which, should it continue as it has been, may give me the security to continue work on my best blue buddy properly for, intermittent, yet more prolonged, blocks of time. That would be fantastic, so fingers crossed!

I continue to be in awe of the community that surrounds Inigo. The constant love and support from that quarter has made these recent terrible years all the more bearable. With or without Inigo, you guys are utterly amazing.

Stay fantastic and be kind to one another.

    Much love always

    Gary"

"My brother, who I lived with and have been taking care of all this last year, passed away recently due to the cancer, which metastasized and ate his lungs.  Just two weeks before he passed away, our mother, who is disabled and has dementia, and who I also care for, fell and broke her hip.  The anesthesia made her dementia MUCH worse, so she was in a nursing home/recovery center when my brother passed away.  I had a brief few weeks to get a TON of paperwork, arrangements, and other such taken care of.  During that time, I tried to still do at least some of the Inigo support, though I am sure you will have noticed that I did not respond to everything, and things are not getting covered like they used to.  Now the nursing home has sent mother home, but she is still worse off than she was before breaking her hip.  I am averaging two to three hours of sleep a night, sometimes less, and I can't leave her alone at all.  I have to get someone to stay with her even to just get the groceries and prescriptions, or any other errands, and that is not always easy to arrange.  She frequently needs help during the night, thus the sleep deprivation.  Which is all to say, I will be even less available for now than I was when caring for my brother.  I hope that things will settle down, and I will be able to get decent sleep again eventually... but that is far from certain.  So as I said before, I don't know how things are going to go for a while here, and I may not have the chance to answer things at all for stretches of time, like recently.  As Gary said, anyone with long-standing knowledge of Inigo who can check in and answer questions should please try to do so more often."

I have Inigo alongside Sjel Blad castle mod. I'm hoping you guys or someone would do a patch to allow me to give Inigo one of the mounts from Sjel blad in particular the Black SABERCAT as his mount instead of a horse. A Cat riding a cat. It'll be PERFECT!

I fear all of our scarce time and effort at this time is going towards Inigo V3, or solving problems that actually, well, cause problems.  Inigo can recognize some mod-added mounts, but he will treat them all as horses if he does recognize them, and his riding system was written to work with horses, not other mounts.  Whether it is practical, or even possible, to create something to let him ride those mounts, I don't know.  It will depend a lot on how those mounts are set up in that mod.  If they are like horses, with a different mesh and skin, so the riding system can link up with them, that is one thing, if not, it likely would not be practical.  Our coder, who scripted the riding system, is currently not available, and even if he was available, probably not willing to do this type of thing.  You can contact the author of that other mod, to see if they can create a patch, but things like this are NOT trivial little compatibility patches, it would probably be complicated and messy.

Edit:  Oh, and he would not have comments or dialogue for these other mounts, like he does for horses, or he would use the horse dialogue, despite it not being a horse.

I've had this mod in my vortex list for a long time, but I have yet to use it.
I see letters in Riften telling me that he's in the jail, and that he's a whack-job. Why would I go to the jail and hire Inigo? If he wants to live in jail, who am I to convince him otherwise?
    Help me understand.

It depends on what type of person your character is.  You don't have to pay Inigo, he will help you for free, and he is a talented fighter, so if you want to just start out taking advantage of him, like the people in the notes, that is one rout.  Or you could see from the notes that cruel people are taking advantage of a possibly depressed Khajiit, and go to talk to him, to see what the real state of affairs is, and see if you can help him.  There is a note left by him on the counter in the Bee & Barb, and another in the Braidwood Inn, in Kynesgrove that give things a little more from his perspective.  Or you could just be on the way to talk to Sibbi Blackbriar in his cell (for his quest), and hear Inigo talking to his dragonfly, and want to find out more about him.  You need to get into his cell to talk to him, but you don't need to break the law.  There is another note in the jail that will tell you where the spare key to the cell is, and as he is renting the cell, not actually imprisoned, his leaving is not breaking the law either.  Once you have talked to him, you can ask him about his history, and he will tell you quite a lot and let you read his journal, and more is to be found out later in his (short) quest.

Essentially, if your character entirely lacks curiosity, the will to help others, or mercenary self-interest, there isn't much we can do, and you will be skipping a lot of other quests in Skyrim as well.

Be sure, before you go to meet him, that you read the compatibility and patches section of the front page (and hopefully the rest as well, including the FAQ at the bottom), and install any needed patches, and so you know the few things to avoid, if you have certain other mods installed.  If you have questions, ask them here.    There is also a video Inigo User Guide, link on the front page, and in the top sticky above.

I've had Inigo in dozens of games and never had any problems with him; now his Bad Vibrations quest is stuck.  I'm stumped and hoping someone else has had this happen and can help me.

(Spoilers below if you haven't played the quest!)

Inigo will not enter Langley's cabin.  If I use the console to move him in, either moveto or the custom RestoreInigo commands, he will appear in the cabin, but will be rooted in place and not move around at all.  I can interact with him, and he'll talk to Langley once I wake him up, but the dialogue only goes to the point where Langley suggests that Inigo sit down.  Then Inigo doesn't move and both Inigo and Langley have "This person is busy" messages if I activate them.

I've tried restoring earlier saves, to the point of going all the way back to before I got him out of jail in Riften, same results.

According to xEdit, nothing is overwriting him.  I have Dovahnique's replacer installed, but I've used that in the past without issues.  I'm using Nether's Follower Framework for vanilla followers, but Inigo has one of that mod's "ignore" tokens and is NOT being controlled by NFF.

Oddly enough, when my two vanilla followers teleport into the cabin, they don't move around, either.  If I didn't know better, I'd say that the navmesh and/or quest markers in the cabin were missing or disabled, but, again, xEdit shows nothing overwriting Inigo, not even exterior navmesh edits.

Any assistance for this would be greatly appreciated.  I don't want to play without Inigo

EDIT:  I'm not using a modpack or anything like that.  Any load order mistakes are my own...

EDIT 2: I'm running the latest version of Skyrim. 1.6.1170 or whatever, Steam version.

UPDATE:  I tried again with a minimal load order, basically just Inigo and my environment and town mods, and had the same problem with Bad Vibrations.

Checking my mod installation, I noticed that I had installed the "Inigo Unofficial Update" mod (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/89385), and decided to try reinstalling just Inigo, without the unofficial update.  Now things are working, Inigo and my followers will enter Langley's cabin without any issues.

I don't want to cast shade on the unofficial update mod, since I can't say for certain if something else had gotten screwed up in my installation, but reinstalling just Inigo, without the unofficial update, worked for me.  I have my buddy again

Yikes, thanks for letting us know!  We gave permission for them to clean the esp with the latest version of xEdit only, and make no other changes.  But we did not test their esp after that.  To be clear, Inigo really does not NEED cleaning (he was cleaned with an older version of xEdit, of course, and the newer one catches a few more things), but some people get very persistent about everything needing to be cleaned with the latest version, and the auto-clean shouldn't hurt him.  I would say you should post under the 'INIGO 2.4C UPDATE ESP FILE' and describe what you experienced in detail, and tell them that removing their 'update' fixed your issue, but I just checked, and their comments are locked.  If I had to guess, I would suspect that they got overly aggressive with their 'cleaning', and did not only use default settings on the auto-clean, or something like that, and in the process removed some of the purposeful navmesh additions and changes that were made with the cabin to get it to work correctly.  Either that, or the download of that file was corrupted for you, so that it caused more harm than good.  It is meant to be installed only at the start of a new playthough, and like any other mod, once in a blue moon a download will go bad and mess up the file, which in this case was overriding the good Inigo base esp.  I suppose that is more likely, given that quite a few people were already using their 'update' without problems prior to this.

You could test this, if you wanted to, by getting a fresh download of their 'update' esp, and seeing if that works without the problem.  Keep in mind, if you use the Inigo Riding Patch, that must override the 'update' if there is any conflict.  I don't know if they ever updated the unofficial update to include the riding patch, but I suspect they didn't.  I haven't checked though.  In either case, it should be safe enough to go ahead with your game without the 'update', if you don't want to bother testing.  Glad you figured out what the problem was.

I was going to post a question on the update mod page, but, as you said, the comments are locked.  Looking at the description of the mod, if navmesh were removed that would explain the way Inigo and my followers were behaving: neither Inigo nor my two vanilla followers would enter Langley's cabin normally, nor would they move around if I moveto'd them into the cabin.  Langley also did not move after he stood up from his bed.  That behavior usually indicates navmesh issues.  I know Inigo is good, given how many times he's been in my game.

I had actually just started a new game when I had the problem, the first thing I did was go to Riften to get Inigo and start his quest.  I've restarted my game to make sure everything is squeaky clean, and I'm about to go to Riften to get Inigo

      (EDIT: fixed a typo)

Hello! I am having a problem with Inigo. He is not following me and when doing his personal quest, he is starting dialogue with me but not his scripted dialogue quest. I am outside Langely's cabin and cannot open the door due to the lack of dialogue. Any tips? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and going back to previous saves, but that does not seem to help.
Edit: He seems to be breaking in Dawnstar
Edit 2: Fixed it myself, had to load a much older save and he hasn't broken since!

Glad you got it fixed.  Yeah, sometimes Skyrim just freaks out, and the glitch gets baked into the next save, and it is a real lifesaver to have a good number of saves spanning a ways back in time, so that you can go back to before a glitch and go forward again.  Always glad to see people practicing good save procedures, given the nature of Skyrim.    That said, if the problem comes back later, tell us, and I will try to help you.  Always be sure you don't have other mods trying to control Inigo.
