Thank you for your kind words. Unless SkyUI gets a major overhaul, there’s no reason for this simple replacer to stop working for LE, SE, or AE. I still use it as well with the fantastic FWMF:
Such a great simple mod. I've used this for a long time. I can't believe they made the icons white, when everything behind them is also white. That's bad design so I'm very thankful for this mod.
"Description - Main File: This is simply an edited mapmarkerart.swf that has the following changes: - quest and player position markers are colored aqua (R:0, B:255, G:255) - discovered five major capital markers are pale yellow (R:240, B:240, G:100) - discovered four smaller capital markers are paler yellow (R:240, B:240, G:150) - discovered generic town markers are even paler yellow (R:240, B:240, G:200)"
Judging by this the map locations in Solstheim and various mods would have to be colored/edited manually, one by one? What about the location marker and quest icons?
I'm jealous that you figured out how to do this. I have not figured out modding...at all. This is really nifty. If you keep modding...I *very much wish* there was a mod that would let me *hide* or "undiscover" (or whatever it's called) places on my map of a bazillion markers that I have zero wish to revisit.
What about creating a version where each city marker has the colour of its hold? E.g. Whiterun is golden, The Rift is purple, Haafingar is red, etc... (basically the colour of their flags)
It'd also be nice if an additional version would be created where the minor settlements (like Riverwood, Ivarstead, Dragon Bridge, etc) would also be coloured in their hold's colours (maybe more pale tho).
Anyway, this mod is still really good and very useful as it is.
Any chance of creating an addon for the compass? Not sure if skyhud needed or not. I see the other map marker mods have this file for skyhud: 'compassmarkerart.swf' which I assume gives the colours to the compass.
This is probably a very stupid question, but I will ask anyway. Is there a free program that can decompile SWF files that does NOT require Java? I figure I probably cannot get around having to reinstall the dreaded Adobe Flash player, but Java was also a royal pain the last time it was installed on my computer. There's a free trial SWF Decompiler by SoThink that only needs Flash, but according to what I have read, you cannot save your edits. Any suggestions are welcome.
The SoThink decompiler free trial was what I used, but that was over a year ago. Are you sure that it doesn't give you the option to save? IIRC the trial was time-limited, but saved just fine up until it expired.
