The way Bethesda games handle inventory management and the loot economy has always been very problematic to me from a balance and progression perspective. Reducing carry weight should, in theory, force the player to think about what gear they can carry and reduce degenerate loot goblin gameplay. Bethesda finally learned this themselves with Starfield.
We now have a tool that allows us to directly modify base carry weight at runtime, which for all of Skyrim's existence up until now caused huge incompatibilities with race overhauls like Aetherius (which I highly recommend). Huge thanks to Zzyxzz for SkyPatcher.
I took the below values from Weight A Minute because 1) it was my inspiration to make this mod, and 2) I like Revenant0713's reasoning for the final numbers.
Argonians - 90 base carry weight Bretons - 85 base carry weight Dark Elves - 95 base carry weight High Elves - 85 base carry weight Imperials - 100 base carry weight Khajiits - 90 base carry weight Nords - 120 base carry weight Orcs - 120 base carry weight Redguards - 120 base carry weight Wood Elves - 85 base carry weight
