yes, open one of my configs, remove any line that looks something like this:

      Effect = 25% ALDBleeding

you can either put a semicolon (;) infront of the line to disable it like this

      ;Effect = 25% ALDBleeding

or delete the line entirely. up to you

I think you can use SSEEdit ,Select ArcheryLocationalDamage.esp ,spell - neck injury - effect - EFIT - EFIT ,  Change the Magnitude and duration value.

When installing Archery Locational Damage does it matter if we select "none" or 1 of the presets in the Fomod? I would think select none if using this? Or if it completely overwrites then doesnt matter? This info should be added to the description imo. Good mod. Will be using

doesnt matter, whatever config you select here overwrites the config you select with ALD.

Unless I'm mistaken, in addition to damage differences between the mods, over-writing with this mod will mean that the differences between kinds of arrows introduced by SAO will be largely side-lined. One of the nice things about SAO is that it changes how you approach a fight with a bow--where normal arrows ping off of helmets, e.g., certain arrowhead types (bodkin ?) end up doing damage. It means there's a little more nuance in terms of which arrows to inventory; and if you run out of a certain type, battle against armored foes necessitates moving to another weapon altogether.

I happen to like the values that this mod adds, but am not atm patient enough to detail out the entries for the arrow types added by SAO. If anyone makes that patch, there would be a few grateful souls.

Hey, I'd like to suggest a version that leaves the stagger effect on. I agree that a knockdown might be a bit much (unless we can make it a very small chance on a headshot for instance), but a stagger when getting hit with an arrow to the face kinda makes sense. Of course it makes even more sense to just kill the person outright but, you know. I feel like the stagger is a good middle term between realism and gamey enjoyment.

Just a suggestion, of course. Thanks for the preset. And I'll leave with some praise! I especially love this part of the description:
You can't go through the entire game and stomp solely with a bow (...)
That's exactly how it should be. The best part is, with these locational mods, archery is still gonna shine in your game, but it'll no longer completely dominate your entire character. Which is awesome. You can now use archery to open a fight, pick some exposed targets from afar, and then switch up to other options (melee? magic?) for the rest. It's a pretty elegant solution to the sneak archer syndrome without just completely taking the option out of the game. My only worry here is that melee combat won't quite follow the same rules so you can still slash away at a heavily armored opponent 😕 If anyone knows of mods that complement this type of locational care for melee and magic, please let me know. I'm a big fan of vanilla+ but I'm not sure if SimonRim covers that kinda stuff.

Hey Violets, appreciate the feedback. The reason why I remove stagger and knockdown completely from my ALD presets is because I play with Maxsu Poise, which ive created a preset for as well. Through poise, arrows are capable of staggering you once you reach 0 poise health.

If I leave the stagger on with my ALD preset, the compounding stagger effects from ALD and Poise creates an unfair situation for the player. I completely agree that arrows should stagger, I've just implemented that for my personal list outside of ALD.

Im not opposed to this request by any means, so If i see enough people who would like stagger through ALD brought back I dont mind creating a preset for that. Thanks again for the feedback!

I was looking for a way to make archery less overpowered on my next play through. This is perfect, thanks for the mod.

Why would anyone use bows with this mod, given crossbows are more powerful for everything?

Higher physical damage doesn't mean a crossbow is going to be better in every case. Not every perk available in the archery tree, modded or unmodded, affects bows and cross bows equally. Tons of mods add more elemental arrows than they do elemental bolts, which means bows remain more versatile. Acquiring crossbows and the materials to continuously make bolts isn't as easy as acquiring bows.

There's still tons of different use cases for both weapons

looks great! love how it makes heavy armor feel truly impactful and differentiates arrows and bolts a bit more.
