Please refer to the description page for details. Also, review the thread on the original mod page for issues before posting here. I will answer questions when I am able to. I hope everyone enjoys it.

I have been having success with import/export functionality by installing FISS for SE after this mod and overwriting the files. If anyone else can confirm this please let us know here. I don't want to say this is working properly until I hear back from others.

***PLEASE READ BELOW IF YOU ARE REPORTING A BUG***
If you are going to report a bug please let me know all mods you have installed and their load order for me to properly investigate the issue. It's very hard to duplicate any issues you are having if I don't know your setup.

    ***Notes about Controller Support***
I cannot support controllers as I do not use one. In addition, all of the source code for this mod was lost and LordConti himself had a very hard time with the limited controller support this mod does have. If you are using a controller I would like to recommend that you visit the oldrim page for this mod and browse through the posts as there were many people who had issues with controllers and some of them had resolutions.

    ***Additional Notes***
I am working on redoing this mod from the ground up. It is rather difficult as I do not have any source code to go on, but I am making some progress.
    * The new version will not have controller support...ever. I'm sorry but I do not use a controller and the idea of this mod is to type...that means keyboard.
    * It is nearly impossible to make this an in-game book that you can write to. Please stop asking. There have multiple people...better and more knowledgeable people than me who have tried to come up with ideas of how to implement this and due to Skyrim's engine it is nearly impossible. I can possibly make a utility that once you export a journal you can create your own book and load it into your game as a completed or published journal like any other mod, but that's about the only way to do it. If you export the mod you can open up the CK yourself and make your own mod with your journal very easily. I would encourage you to try it and get some experience making something for yourself.
    * The new version will only have one layout similar to the book layout of this mod.

For everyone who has requests for changes and additions to be made to this mod, please note there will not be any other development involved with this version. The source code was lost long ago and it's too much of a pain to decompile the flash file just to change an image or something like that. I wanted to respond to all of you who have had requests. Someday I will work on the next version, but with the way things are right now I am on a little vacation from gaming in general.

The AE version of the mod is up and I would like others to make sure it works for them. This is a simple update to make it work with the new update. Currently I only have SKSE64 (for AE), FISSES, SkyUI, and Take Notes installed on my game and everything works just like the SE and LE versions of the mod.  If you have any issues please let me know what they are. Everything seemed to work perfectly for me with these mods installed. If you have a mod conflict please let me know which mods it conflicts with and I will try to replicate the issue and fix it if possible.

Thanks to xcal68 for making a quick update on the mod to address the squish problem with the newest version of Skyrim.  You will still need the main file. This only affect those who are running the newest version of Skyrim. If you haven't updated your game you do not need the new file.

Can't seem to get the export to actually work. I'm using Dinoksetiid Wabbajack modlist, installed this and FISS, tried with and without the AE patch. It says it exports, but I can't find a file anywhere? Not in overwrite or anywhere else. Any ideas? Thanks!

    EDIT -

Got it to work by using these three -
FileAccess Interface for Skyrim SE Scripts - FISSES
    FISSES ESLified Patch
    fisses-ng

I'm glad you got it working. This problem has occurred before and usually making sure that FISSES overwrites Take Notes solves the problem. The fisses files in Take Notes are older and might be the issue. Hopefully, your fix will work for others having the same issue.

      Figured it out!

Thank you for making this wonderful mod! I have literally just been writing for the past 4-5 hours of gameplay and will likely be writing for a bit more ^.^ best roleplaying mod hands down.

What? I don't understand. How do you install the FISSES-NG?
Edit: I'm dumb. For other dumb people like me:
      1. Install FileAccess Interface for Skyrim SE Scripts - FISSES
      2. Install FISSES ESLified Patch
      3. Go to releases page for fisses-ng, download the zip. Now in Mod Manager 2, locate your FileAccess Interface for Skyrim SE Scripts - FISSES mod, reveal in explorer. Go to SKSE\Plugins and replace only the .dll file from the fisses-ng zip folder you downloaded.

I can't get this method to work for me no matter what. Does it only work for anniversary edition?

EDIT: N/m I got it! My game didn't like the esl plugin for FISSES. Worked without issue with just FISSES for me!

Thanks for this mod.  I'm currently using to store all the follower and armour names that are installed so I don't have to alt-tab out of the game.  I've been editing the XML files with Notepad++ and it's working great.  Thanks again.

Your idea is very cool. I can say that I have no problem using it with a controller. You can even type with a controller as long as you use the steam controller mapping. Even if you are not familiar with typing with a controller, you can use the controller to open/close the journal and then type with the keyboard. I used the default controller keybinding.

This mod is such a never play without standard.
The tragedy of my Elder scroll player career is that there is no real working version for morrowind.
Just went back to skyrim recently and seen that this is still updated and I am so happy about it, thank you very much

I just downloaded this mod very recently, and I can already assure you that it is never leaving my load order -- it is a fantastic mod with such incredible love and care put into it and adds so much immersion to the game. Brilliant idea and wonderful execution.

Would you be all right with someone publishing a patch of tweaks for this mod? One that requires the original mod, of course.

Hey Ath3nos I love this mod, it will never leave my computer! I am however having problems with Edge UI (decided it was time to change up)- for some reason using this mod w edge ui causes the journal to shift to the left half off screen, is there some kind of fix or setting I should play with to mend this issue? I'm completely new to editing UI elements so I would not know what to do. I've tried moving it around both in the LO and the left pane on MO2 but to no avail, also I tried using the squish fix on the off hand it might fix something but instead the journal now takes up the whole screen to such an extent that editing it is impossible, I hope there's some way to fix it as this is an essential mod but Edge UI does look really nice. Cheers and lots of love for this game changing mod!

If you read the description of the mod, you will see there is a way to move and scale the journal.

I'm glad that you can edit the different sections to different names, for those of us who are using "The Dragonborn's Bestiary"

Unfortunately, it still appears squished for me even using the squish fix. I'm running the latest GOG Skyrim AE.

The simple answer is no. Not with this version of the mod and I have not yet written another version. I will keep it in mind for future versions of the mod though.

I was more or less referring to if  you remember which file had the chapters stuff in it, i'd be more than willing to learn how to use creation kit and stuff just so I could create more chapters or maybe figure out how to add another control so people can make their own chapters. If you dont know thats fine but unfortunate. Honestly I just wanna add some chapters for a couple of the new lands mods I got installed and feel using the take notes mod would be a nice starting point for me to learn the CK.

It's all in a flash file which would need to be decompiled because the original files have been lost.

Do you know how to decompile the flash file cause if so could tell me or tell me what to search up so I can figure out how to decompile it?
