This is an extension of Rollertoaster01's Xploding Barrels, with the added ability to pick up, craft, and blowing up by something fiery oil barrels.

I decided that Skyrim could use a similar to Baldur's Gate 3 mechanic with picking up combustible barrels for later use. Now you can just as well scatter a lot of barrels in one place and blow them up with a projectile spell, causing the NPCs caught in the blast to gasp in admiration at how much of a genius you are.

The source files are on my GitHub. The showcase is below.

Unscripted Version:

Versions:

Scripted Version:
  • Barrels can only be triggered by using something fiery (fire spell, fire-enchanted weapon or ammo, other explosions).
  • The object is completely removed after the explosion and doesn't leave behind an empty barrel (as sometimes happens in the normal version).
  • Supports Grab and Throw and More Interactive Objects.
Unscripted Version:
  • Has no conditions for igniting, the barrel can explode from any interaction.
  • Doesn't work well with Grab and Throw (could leave an infinite fire).

Compatibility (Scripted Only):

If any of the fire spells doesn't work in your mod order, just put the spell name in XMPFireDamage_KID.ini under "Spells", following the template:

Keyword = XMPFireDamage | Spell | *YourSpellNameOrAbbreviation

Note: perhaps barrel characteristics and craft recipes may seem unrealistic. Feel free to share your perspective!

  • I did a quick calculation of the possible weight of the barrel, but slightly lowered the number for convenience. Now the barrel is 30 kg.
  • Damage from the fire is 5, from the explosion is 50.
  • It can be crafted in two ways: 2 iron ingots, 6 firewoods, 10 troll fat OR 5 dwarven oil.
