Update 2022 part 2 added. Special thanks to Wheelymike Azuregem92 and Pushpal for the great writing and voice-acting.

Update 2022.installation instructions:To use with SkyrimUnderground.esm. Download and install SkyrimUnderground.esm then
    download and install SkyrimUnderground_AddOn.esp:
Make sure the add.on.esp is loaded after the esm. Requires Dawnguard Hearthfires Dragonborn.

Compatibility with other dungeon mods: fully compatible, the only issue can be that entrances are in the same exterior spot and therefore
    conflict.

I finally had the guts to go dungeon crawling and navigate through the Undeground, after reaching level 60. The creatures there are unique, loved the skeletons, but I feel something is missing.

    QUANTITY.

How can I make it so I can fight more enemies while in Skyrim Underground? To populate the corridors? There just aren't enough of them to call it a real challenge.
    Thanks!

During "Secret of dwarven valley" my quest log says I have to talk to Wayn again (after having entered the ruin). I'm not in front of a locked gate for which I need a key, next to an elevator that goes back to the entrance. However, when I talk to Wayn, I don't get any options to continue the quest. I'm not getting any key neither. I reloaded the game, but didn't fix anything.

    What's wrong?

Figured it out. After entering the ruin, I immediately continued going through it without talking to Wayn first. The quest gets broken if you don't immediately talk to him when going inside.

So I reloaded an older save, immediately talked to him after entering, and was able to continue the quest.

Is there somewhere a patch for Dungeon Darkness for ESM version of the mod? I try to switch to new ESM version, but JB's mod warns me there is no DD's esp anymore

It would be nice to have a sample of the voice acting in the mod somewhere... I love the concept and idea of this mod but Im currently building my modlist and really want everything to go well once im done and only focus on playing rather than fixing the modlist over and over, and bad quality voice acting would really ruin it for me. But ive spent like an hour searching for videos and sample of the npcs voices of this mod but so far nothing yet.

Update : After a while i just decided to do it myself and unpack the bsa file and listen to the voice recordings ( only some of them because i dont want to spoil myself of too much content ). For anyone thats wondering the same thing and worried that bad voice acting might ruin their immersion like me, the voice acting quality of this mod is pretty good! Cant guarentee much because again, i only listened to a few to not spoil much for myself, but from those few recordings, i can definitely say it fits right into the game, and has really high quality voice acting for a mod.

Do you have Skyrim project optimization? And a mod that alters that interior? Then without a patch, you will have that bug. I would check Lux and Lux Orbis as well. Otherwise, if you have a crash logger, I would try running around the space till you crash. It will tell you the problem.  Check patches and load order, all these mods need patching to play nice with each other.

how do you uninstall this mod without killing your savefile? this mod causes my game to freeze every time i save, so i wanted to disable it, when i do though, the game refuses to load the save that i have this mod enabled previously

thats a complete and utter lie. the overwhelming vast majority of mods are practically hot swappable. the save will just be like "This save relies on (Insert mod name)" then you press continue and it loads just fine.

It's not a lie. Most big mods that adds objects, NPCs, scripts etc. cannot be removed mid game without damaging your save. It's kinda common sense. Lots of things get baked into your save and you can't just rip them out without consequences.

So the answer is no, you can't really.

To add on to the above, only a select few kinds of mods are exceptions to this rule. Texture mods, weapon mods, in my experience, have usually been safe to uninstall. Armor mods can be mostly fine, but one recently did cause an infinite loading screen (Galahad Coat, currently no longer available to download), so be wary. Quest mods, followers with quests, mods that add many objects (like an armor or weapon collection), home mods, weather mods, mods with an MCM menu, etc, I would never uninstall mid-playthrough without expecting consequences. A loaded save is not necessarily a healthy one.

To add on to the addon to the above above, I mostly agree. However I would say that equestrianmidnight is actually STILL being a little more cautious than necessary. Generally speaking, you can TRY to uninstall any mod you want without consequences. (As long as you use a mod manager. Manual installation is a nightmare, manual uninstallation is worse.)

Just disable the mod using your mod manager and load your save. If it works, great. If it doesn't work, the game will crash - and you can just re-enable the mod and go back to playing as you were before.

Worst case scenario, trying to load the save file will corrupt it and you'll have to go back one save further, which (if you're saving regularly like you should be) will only cost you 20 minutes of progress, tops.

I've been rapidly changing my load order, installing and uninstalling multiple mods at a time between almost every play session, on the same save file FOR ALMOST A YEAR, with literally no consequences. Just do whatever lol, it'll be fine.

Its always a risk uninstalling mods mid game. But you can use Fallrim Tools to restore your save (most times)
      https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/5031/

But overall its best to avoid uninstalling.

When testing the mod I also tested mid playthrough install and uninstall and the so called clean save method always worked for me when uninstalling.

I'm okay with uninstalling small texture/retexture stuff, books, different stars & moon stuff; anything that is self-contained, etc. Only made one bad change but I just backtracked several saves (maybe 40min).

BIG things; gamechangers, Immersive this-and-that, landscape stuff and etc, I copy both my Save Files (Documents) and the entire Skyrim SSE directory (Steam/steamapps/common/Skyrim Special Edition).
This has saved me from two very bad mod installs that wrecked the game. I just killed those directories and rebuilt them from an uncompressed copy.

I have a bunch of stuff loaded over the last month or so and it's only 20GB... 2TB drives are cheap and common. Well worth the expense (can store system backups on it too).

I ran into the smuggler's hideout by randomly exploring, and found a gate requiring a key with no key in the cell. Is that tied to a quest, or am I missing something?

Yeah you missed it. The key is in a strongbox on a roof beam on the upper floor.

Does anyone know what's up with the crying corpse in the smugglers hideout? I've tried everything I could think of, but no key.

Well I had some plans with her but other stuff came in between. So she's just a minor addition to the mod.
