Hadn't used the creation kit before yesterday and never intended to but I also like this mod a lot, so decided to take a look and see what the deal was with the broken Ranger perk. After downloading the ck and messing around for an hour or so, it turned out the issue was very easy to solve. Absolutely anyone can fix the values to their own liking using SSEEdit in just a few minutes.

Open Simply Better Movement Speeds in SSEEdit and you'll see the handful of movement records it modifies. The record you care about is bowdrawn_quickshot_mt (yes quickshot, that's the Ranger perk's ID in the ck). Click on it. One column is vanilla Skyrim and the other is the mod, everything in green is an edit. The issue is the author made it only slightly faster than the default bowdrawn_mt record and there isn't enough practical difference for it to be noticeable. In the mod column of bowdrawn_quickshot I changed: forward run; back run; left run; right run and forward walk to match the mod's default_mt (normal movement) values, which is the same thing vanilla Skyrim does (I left side-to-side and back walk values as they were, per author intent). Save and you're done!

In my opinion this lines up much better with the perk's vanilla implementation while keeping to the mod's spirit. You can easily test this out on any save by opening the console (tilde '~') and typing player.addperk 00058f63 (thanks UESP!) to give your character Ranger.

After about an hour of frustration trying to find out wtf was breaking the ranger perk i found out it was this mod i quite like, other seem to be having the same issue too, damn. I really like this mod but ranger is essential for any build that uses bows at all

What we need is a mod that makes the player walk at the speed of NPCs and does nothing else. So far, every "walk speed" mod also tinkers with run speed, sneak speed, etc. which causes other issues.

Does not work together with "360 Movement Behavior". No conflicts, just this mod does nothing if the other mod is active. I am using Vortex.

Finally, I can catch up to the NPCs while walking.

Is it safe to ESL-ify the plugin?

This mod would be just awesome if it didn't ruin archery. I cant believe how much not being able to use the Ranger Perk effects gameplay.

100% agree. A new value or something needed to be distinct from whatever function dictates when people are walking normally versus walking with the bow drawn.

Im new to modding but I stumbled upon another similar mod that seems to do the same thing(?), maybe it works with archery if you tested it out?

      Kudos for you jlemay24027 !
I don't understand why people can't post what's wrong without being rude, especially when they install a mod without paying attention to what game/version it is made for in the first place

It works for me in v1.6.xx.  The only mods affected by the update are SKSE64 .dll mods.  This is a regulart plugin.

I have a problem with my player suddenly having the zoomies and runs at 100mph. The only way to stop it and return the speeds to what they should be with this mod is to spam WASD in all directions. But that only lasts for a few minutes before I have to do it again. Any suggestions on how I can fix this?

I'm noticing in xEdit that there were 'default' records added to bow and magic casting animations (movement threshold) when vanilla has none. Possible source of issues for people? Untested but I removed those records.

Please, add in description about conflicts if people using another movement and combat animation mods. And since 99.9% of Skyrim users using lots of movement/animation mods, you should consider it, and edit the description in a better way.

It doesn't change any of the animation behaviors, so there would be no conflicts.
