Yep, that's still true. Some of them are tied to vanilla quests (e.g. the one in Bloated Man's Grotto) and others are affected by mods more popular than mine (e.g. Second Great War removes shrines from Whiterun and Riften if the Thalmor take those cities). I only destroyed shrines where (as best as I could tell) there wouldn't be any conflicts if I did so.
(Some of the shrines that don't get destroyed have notices posted or new world encounters added, though--you can always do what I did on my Thalmor playthrough and disable them whenever you find them.)
I'm working on my mod list at the moment haven't gotten this far yet but saw this on Bards college graduate and love the idea, just have a question though before I risk destroying it... will any mods that make Ondolemar a follower/marriageable be compatable, with or without a patch?
Hard to say without actually seeing the mods in question. I play with Make NEARLY Anyone Your Follower or Marriagable, so I know that one works, but anything that, say, replaces the NPC altogether (e.g. with a different, fancier-looking Ondolemar) might not fly. Did you have any mod in particular you wanted to use?
hadn't thought of that one, I might give that one a try. at the moment I am working on patching LOTD quests. but from the ones I have seen there are only 4 mods sentered around Ondolemar mainly because that was who I was prioritising. the one I was looking at was Ondolemar Husband. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/125675, althoguh I also was thinking of Savvy's Ondolemar Replacer https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/113503 but haven't decided yet.
It looks like the creator of Ondolemar Husband was worried about interfering with an NPC who is involved in the main quests--so they just made a duplicate Ondolemar who is marriageable and will move in with you, while the original one continues to patrol the halls of Understone Keep all day/go to embassy parties/get killed in the Civil War. The good news is that this makes Ondolemar Husband compatible with pretty much everything on a *technical* level; on the other hand this might lead to some silly in-game situations (e.g. you're living together in Breezehome but you still have to go to Markarth to report Talos shrines to him, because presumably he's still commuting there each day😆). You could get around this with roleplay, though--make sure the two of you are living in/near Markarth, or report all the RTST shrines before you get married, or just assume your dear spouse spends a lot of time traveling.
It looks like Savvy's Ondolemar Replacer is an appearance overhaul, not a marriage mod, so you should be able to use it in conjunction with/alongside any other marriage/follower mod, not as a replacement for them
Also I double-checked Make NEARLY Anyone Your Follower or Marriagable, and it looks like the FOLLOWER command works on Ondolemar, but marriage does not (still not sure why). So Ondolemar Husband and a little planning are probably your best bet
Thank you for that, and for taking the time to check. in terms of breaking the immersion, as funny as that would be to see. it shouldn't have too much of a problem, it's more for the video editing and story immersion I have planned.
So figners crossed it doesn't bug on me when I finish the season unending quest and Ondolemar is still in the keep. Again, Thank you for your help.
Thank you. Good idea, good job - well done! Very good for role playing and a must have for my play list, even when I only need it as an option I can say No to - I'll never lick the boots of those fascistoid thalmor! ;)
Just browsing the page for that mod, I don't see anything that off the top of my head I think would conflict. Can you be more specific about what would need to be patched?
So I just tested the two of them together (with Standing Ambusher Fix loaded last) and everything was working normally for me. RTST shouldn't actually do all that much with the master ambush script; I only used what's already available in vanilla and filled in the relevant properties. There were no intentional edits made to the script itself (but I suppose I could have made a mistake at some point).
If you're seeing any odd behavior in-game, let me know, but you ought to be able to play as normal just by loading SAF second
Hello, In the description it is said "if you go back to the shrine later, you may find [...] rubble where the shrine used to be". Do I need to re-run DynDOLOD after installing this mod ?
Unfortunately, I don't use DynDOLOD myself and don't know enough about it to answer definitively one way or the other. Feel free to try it out and let me know if you see any weirdness.
I will say that there are only two shrines that get destroyed: the one at the Weynon Stones, and the one at Ilas-Tei's last stand, both of which have their views from a distance obstructed by glaciers/cliffs/rocks. So I don't think (?) it should make that much of a difference one way or the other

Jokes aside I love mods like this that just flesh out your interactions more in a roleplaying way. <3
I've been wished to do this for a long time as after all I play elves race only.
