These instructions were provided by GUIDOBO on the Oldrim “The Ordinary Women” Nexus site. These same instructions may help remove NPCs from other mods but there may be differences. Overall there are two steps to removing an NPC from this mod.

STEP 1: Use SSE Edit to remove the following NPC references from this mod: Non-Player Character (Actor)*, Head Part, and Texture Set.
STEP 2: Delete the meshes and textures for the NPC from this mod.

    * Before deleting the Non-Player Character (Actor) record, write down the Form ID for the NPC. You will need it later.
If you wind up with the black face issue then you've missed a step. You can always reinstall the mod and start over.

GUIDOBO's very detailed instructions are below. One change: TES Edit 3.2 is now really out of date. Use SSE Edit.

This actually is not that hard to do, especially with only some basic knowledge of TES5Edit, so I hope you're at least a bit familiar with this tool. Basicly, there are 3 parts where you need to delete records from:

    Head Part
    Non-Player Character (Actor)
    Texture Set

Fortunately, you gave 2 characters to work with (makes explaining the process easier) and they're right one above the other in Head Part and in Texture Set. So, here's how you do it (of course, make sure The Ordinary Women.esp is actually in your data folder. Duhuh, lol):

    - First of all, make a back-up of 'The Ordinary Women.esp', just copy it and paste it somewhere safe (desktop, custom folder, etc) so you can always revert to the original if you change your mind or you if you would f**k it up somewhere along the process (Tip: if you make edits in TES5edit and you made a mistake, you can just close TES5Edit and in the upcomming window NOT TICK / UNTICK the esp nor/and the backup boxes in the next window),

    - Make sure you have the latest version of TES5Edit (3.2) (available here on the Nexus), as that is the one I'm working with,

    - Open TES5Edit (I always right click and run it as administrator (I'm on Windows 8.1), as I do with ALL my programs, just to make sure I have full control),

    - In the first window where all your esp/mods are shown, right-click in it and choose 'Select None'. This will untick all the esp's (don't worry, this doesn't affect your esp's in the actual mod folder, they will still be the same (active or not), even when you close TES5Edit. You're only deactivating the esp's in TES5Edit that you don't want to edit),

    - Now only tick the box of 'The Ordinary Women.esp' (any of its masters will be loaded automaticly by TES5Edit),

    - Wait until it has finished loading (look at the bottom of the right side window: wait for the message 'Bacground Loader: Finished'. Another indication that it has finished loading is when you don't see the small 'Tips' windows appearing anymore, if you have not turned them off in your settings at least),

    - In the left side window you will find your 'The Ordinary Women.esp' at the bottom and all its masters above it. That (The Ordinary Women.esp) is the one you are going to edit,

    - Click on the '+' sign left of 'The Ordinary Women.esp' to expand it,

    - Now you'll see the different categories it has: File Header, Armor Addon, Armor, Head Part, Non-Player Character (Actor), Outfit and Texture Set,

    - You will only need to edit 3 of those: Head Part, Non-Player Character (Actor) and Texture Set. Let's start with the easiest (and, in fact, the most important) one: Non-Player Character (Actor),

    - Click on the '+' sign left of Non-Player Character (Actor) to expand it. Now you will see the list of all the characters that have been edited by the mod and they are divided in 3 rows:

FormID: This is the NPC's Base ID (that's the ID that is also used in the game and the same numbers as in your FaceGeom (Meshes) and FaceTint (Textures) folders, so it's best to wright them down for later. But I'll make it easier on you since you provided specific characters you want to delete:

    0001C197 = Faralda
    0001C19B = Nirya
EditorID: This is basicly their Creation Kit name/ID
Name: This is their name as they appear ingame

    - Find 0001C197 Faralda, click on her FormID once to select her (there should be a square arround her FormID now),

    - Press 'elete' on your keyboard to permanantly delete this entry. You'll get a warning message, just wait 2-3 seconds until the 'Yes, I'm absolutely sure' button turns green,

    - Find 0001C19B Nirya and do the same steps as above (select and delete). You'll also get a warning message, but this time it's a more standard one (no waiting time). Just click 'Yes',

    - That's it for the Non-Player Character (Actor) part (unless there's other NPC's you want to delete). This is the easier part because the list is shorter and there's only 1 entry for each NPC you want to delete (except Tova Shatter-Shield, she's got 2, the 2nd one is her ghost if I'm not mistaken),

    - Just take your time, don't rush it, and always check and double check to make sure you have the right NPC's selected (this also counts for all the other steps),

    - Now go to Head Part, click the '+' sign left of it to expand it. As you can see, this list is quite a bit longer, but for the most part it's well ordered.

    - For most characters there are 4 headparts, but some have have 5. It depends on their hairstyle. These are the parts (in the second/middle collumn):

    0_(NPC's name)_Brows
    0_(NPC's name)_Eyes
    0_(NPC's name)_Hairline
    0_(NPC's name)_Hairline2 (not all NPCs)
    0_(NPC's name)_Hair

    - The other parts (usually beginning with 'Ordinary', without a specific NPC's name, you DO NOT DELETE, ignore them. These are parts that are shared by all the TOW NPCs, so be careful NOT to touch them,

    - So, in your case, here are the parts for your character you have to delete (pressing the 'elete' button on your keyboard and clicking 'Yes' when prompted). You can press 'CTRL' and click each part to select and delete several at once:

    0_Faralda_Brows
    0_Faralda_Eyes
    0_Faralda_Hairline
    0_Faralda_Hair
    0_Nirya_Brows
    0_Nirya_Eyes
    0_Nirya_Hairline
    0_Nirya_Hair
    - That's it for the Head Part

    - Texture Set: Click on the '+' sign to expand. This is one is a little bit shorter than the previous one and there's only 2 entries you need to delete for each NPC you don't want (again, IGNORE ALL THE PARTS STARTING WITH 'ORDINARY', these are shared by all TOW NPCs):

    0_(NPC's name)_EyesAA
    0_(NPC's name)_HeadBrow
    - So, in your case you should select (hold 'CTRL' for multiple selection) and press 'elete' on your keyboard (and click yes when prompted):
    0_Faralda_EyesAA
    0_Faralda_HeadBrow
    0_Nirya_EyesAA
    0_Nirya_HeadBrow

    - Now you have deleted all the entries in the esp for those characters,

    - You're finished in TES5Edit. Close the window by pressing the (red) X button in the upper right corner of the main window (the same way you would close any other window) and, very important to save your progress: in the next window that pops up: TICK the box of 'The Ordinary Women.esp' (no need to tick the lower box for back-up since, in the first step, you made a copy of the original as a back-up. Otherwise, you can tick it and it will make a back-up in your data folder where you'll find a 'TES5Edit Backups' folder. To use those backups, delete everything in the name that comes after .esp and place them back in your Data folder),

    - But you're not done yet, there's one last very important step you need to take: DELETE THE FILES OF THOSE CHARACTERS IN YOUR MESHES AND TEXTURES FOLDERS,

    - Go to your Data folder and delete those characters FaceGeom in the Meshes folder and FaceTint in the Textures folder of those characters you deleted in the esp. That's why you should wright down their BaseID (you can always look them up through Google or the Wiki at http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:people) You should also delete their respective folders (folders with their names) in Meshes\Neus\The Ordinary Women\ and Textures\Neus\The Ordinary Women\, since these won't be used anymore (and at the same time freeing up some space on your hard drive),

So, in your case, delete the following files and folders:

Data\Meshes\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\Skyrim.esm\0001C197 for Faralda (only this file)
Data\Meshes\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceGeom\Skyrim.esm\0001C19B for Nirya (only this file)
Data\Meshes\Neus\The Ordinary Women\Faralda (the whole folder)
Data\Meshes\Neus\The Ordinary Women\Nirya (the whole folder)
Data\Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\skyrim.esm\0001C197 for Faralda (only this file)
Data\Textures\Actors\Character\FaceGenData\FaceTint\skyrim.esm\0001C19B for Nirya (only this file)
Data\Textures\Neus\The Ordinary Women\Faralda (the whole folder)
Data\Textures\Neus\The Ordinary Women\Nirya (the whole folder)

    Voila, now you're all set.

This is the same procedure (all the steps above) in case (like me) you want to make The Ordinary Women compatible with Bijin's females (NPCs, Warmaidens, Wives, AIO). Bare in mind that Bijin's esp is a little more complicated/elaborated, with a few more records to deal with (Armor Addon and Armor --> delete every part with that NPC's name you want to delete in these records), but the procedure is just the same. Also, know where your NPC is from, most their FaceGeoms and FaceTints will be in the \Skyrim.esm folder, but Valerica for instance is in the \awnguard.esm folder.

So, I hope this guide will be useful and helpful to you and anyone else trying to pick and choose NPCs from overhauls, cuz it surely took me quite some time to type this all down. Feel free to link to this post from anywhere for other gamers that want to achieve the same goal.

This is over complicated, you only need to deleted the actor ref from the editor and before you do just make sure the ID number associated to that actor is memorized or written down and delete its corresponding meshes/textures related to that actor.

This is fantastic, thanks for providing this.

Secondly, @EdmondNoir is correct with his comment, ive tested both methods and they both work.

      Many thanks for this guide.

I'm surprised by how little overlap there is between The Ordinary Women and the Bijin trilogy. Only eleven characters are duplicated. Here's a list of the characters and their IDs. It will really speed up the deletion process. Copy and paste into a blank Word document.

Is there a reason why you can't delete ONLY the meshes/textures before enabling the mod into your load order? I simply used the windows explorer to search up on the names I wanted to delete, deleted their corresponding folders, and just enabled the mod. I have tested it and it works without instability.
