About this mod

Get the most realistic visual experience in stealth missions or casual looting. This immersive retexture of Oblivionesque Lockpicking Minigame Redone (OLR) will help you to melt with your thief character as you solve lockpicking puzzles with a better feel for space, weight and scale of the pins and locks.

Changelogs
Visually Realistic Lockpicking is a Retexture and accompanies the release of the new version of Oblivionesque Lockpicking. I already did a retexture of the old version you can still get here: OLM Realistic Retexture (OBSOLETE). Beware that the older version requires a working iWant Widgets (NG) and I don't recommend using it. The new version of OLM is standalone and so is my retexture.

Installation:

Simply overwrite anything from the original main file of OLR.
Don't install the variations mod as my retexture already includes variations and I will update them from time to time (Basically when I have time in the evenings to do one lock each).

Main File:
Curently covered Locks:
- Standard Wooden Lock (fallback for all locks if a specific texture for a model is not yet defined.)
- Steel Lockpick with realistically textured breaking animation
- all lock types for Dwemer Architecture and Chests

- Safes and strongboxes will soon be included
- An Oldschool Oblivion Lock - Realistic & Classic Version both will be soon added under optional files. Done. No Classic version needed, because, laugh at me :D, I actually haven't looked at the Oblivion Lock for such a long time that I forgot it already looked great and realistic, for what 2006 2D editing tools had to offer. So have fun with my 2024 version of the Oblivion Lock :)

Compatibility:

O.L.R. is fully compatible with the Security Overhaul SKSE and regional locks as stated by LeucisticDinosaur. In fact there is even an option to use a combined minigame in the MCM of OLR so you can actually use your current lock overhaul in function with the new Oblivion Lock mod. Have a look at the original page under description to understand how that works. :3

Future Plans:

-Making a FOMOD for a "make your own lock" version so you can choose from a selection of pins, springs, picks, etc to forge your own visual experience however you like it. I guess this has the lowest priority yet because I first want to have a bigger variety of locks for you in the game. That said coming to priority No1:
-Making Variations for all locks and lockpicks both vanilla and modded locks. If you want a door/chest/display case to be covered please make sure to send me the name of the .nif Model the ingame object is using. You can find out what the .nif Model is when you open your console (with More Informative Console), click on the chest/door/(whatever you crazy people are locking up) so it will be highlighted in a pale blue/grey - now you see right on the top the "Name: " of the object and if you look further below there is a section called "Model: ". In the case of a Dwemer Door that is not super large but leads commonly to citizens' houses this section in your console would be called "Model: DwemerSmallDoorLoad01.nif". If you found the Model you want a custom lock for, just take the .nif-filename and put it into the comments, I will then design something for the lock! <3 Happy lockpicking, Cheers ~

Credits:

All Credits for OLR - Oblivionesque Lockpicking Redone - Minigame and Oblivionesque Lockpicking Minigame (old version) go to LeucisticDinosaur! Thanks for the great work and that I had the honor to publish this simultaniously with you! :3

Unrelated but maybe useful: Load Order Issues in General?
I created a snapshot of my latest modlist as a collection. You can use that to look up where I placed mods you might also use. This modlist contains mostly very functionally or gameplay orientated mods but also experimental combinations that require manual patching. If you need help with mods, feel free to contact me! <3 While I have arranged a lot of mods to work in function, more reliably for you to seek inspiration or start your modding journey are modlists that are made by dedicated teams. Those famous lists could be for example Nolvus. I haven't tested it myself yet but I only heard positive feedback and it is very stable while containing more than 2000 mods for you to test in function :3 Happy modding, cheers ~
