It works on 1170 just tested myself. If you are on the latets make sure to delte the translation files and skse files of the original while using NG mod. Then this mod overwriting the original.
So do I need this to make AddItemMenu AE compatible or is "delete the translation files and skse files of the original while using NG mod" the fix for that? And gg for testing that out by the way!
The old esp or this or the immersive cheating esl all work. If on the latest version of Skyrim just make sure to grab the dll of NG. Toml just recreates itself on launch.

You are correct! It works flawlessly on 1170. I just tested it exactly as you suggested.
LOAD ORDER:
1. AdditemMenu (Original) with .dll replaced from AdditemMenu NG & translation folder deleted 2. AdditemMenu NG 3. AdditemMenu - ESL Patch (this file)
I haven't had any crashes or glitches for the past 24 hours of gameplay. It works exactly as it did back on 1.6.640.
So thanks to both of you, WhereDeadAngelsLie and FrameArms. Not having either AdditemMenu or QUI was unbearable for anyone actually using any significant number of mods. The whole Skyrim gaming community owes you both a debt of gratitude.

Are you using vortex or mmo2? This mod doesn't work for me. Instead of having a good time plaiyng moddedd skyrim im stuck trying to fix this stupid mod.

You HAVE to delete the translation files under "Interface" and delete the entire plugins files under "SKSE" in the OG mod so that the NG Mod will be used instead.
Your Load order should look something like this: AddItem Menu (Should be overwritten in favor of the ESL PTCH) AddItem Menu NG AddItem Menu ESL PATCH (should be overwriting the OG Mod)

Oh but the hotkey doesn't seem to work, it keeps saying additemmenu spell not found even though i have the spell learned. But aside from that, everything is working flawlessly. That key not working is no biggie.
Hey, could you adjust the default "[" key? As this is flagged as esl the form id of the spell is changed, the button is no longer working. The button referenced at .toml file from NG: ListMenu = 26
Edit: Bummer. After some reading and testing, I suppose that could not be done, as it need to change the dll of NG mod. I don't know how to edit the dll without the source, yet. I'll be switching back into the regular esp, still endorsed tho.

An issue with the keybind has been reported, so the mod author has to update his mod if he wants to use the ESL
Other than that... it seems to work based on the users feedback
But it should be easy to test on your side and if it doesn't work, just keep the ESP from the original mod

Several mods offer some kind of AddItem feature, but only AddItemMenu has a cross plugins search function
The SkyUI search is applied only once you are in the plugin... so it's not as good. The MCM configuration is nice though
Also, I agree about the other part of your post, so I did a patch to remove the starting item added by AddItemMenu because I don't like it either...

I haven't found the source code either.... otherwise I could have done it probably
EDIT: I contacted the mod author of AddItemMenu - NG, so fingers crossed....
I will not do it on my side... unless you are doing a short playthrough for the fun...

For 1.6+ you should add AddItemMenu NG (but the shortcut will be broken)
