Parallax has a few basic requirements. You also need a few other mods: a dynamic snow mod like Better Dynamic Snow 2.11 - Definitive Edition, as well as the bug fix mods Terrain Parallax Blending Fix and SSE Engine Fixes. You can choose between ENBSeries or Community Shaders for the shader features that enable parallax. Remember to disable the vanilla snow shader(bEnableImprovedSnow=0) and enable land shadows(bDrawLandShadows=1) in SkyrimPrefs.ini, these changes are required for parallax. Remember to disable the vanilla snow shader(bEnableImprovedSnow=0) and enable land shadows(bDrawLandShadows=1) in SkyrimPrefs.ini, these changes are required for parallax. These should be all you need for it to at least work correctly, and you can build up your mod choices from there.

Landscape is not included because I couldn't get permission for it.

Man, this replacer with the vanilla complex parallax meshes series looks really good in game. Unfortunately, the LOD/distance texture pop-ins that I have been getting with various pieces of architecture is very annoying. I also get missing textures in High Hrothgar on the steps, the small bowl-shaped braziers, and the floor around the rug in the entryway. I ended up uninstalling everything plus the parallax texture blending mod. Now I get a purple ground texture on the road edges around Whiterun that I don't know how to fix. Re-installing the mods fixes the ground texture, but then I am back to the other issues. I'm thinking I may have to do a complete re-install of the base game to get rid of the vestiges of these mods if I can't figure this out soon.

Distant LOD pop-in can be fixed by running DynDOLOD. Missing textures are definitely due to issues with installation..

I would recommend using Mod Organizer 2 to keep track of the files you have installed and quickly add/remove them for testing. Unfortunately I don't have a solution for you once things have already become out of your control. Good luck.

I've used DynDOLOD for quite a while now. The pop-ins only occur with specific textures from your mods. For example, with your mods, a gate will have texture-less doors and windowed wall sections, but the rest of the building will show textures consistently. The missing textures do not appear until you get fairly close. Much closer than DynDOLOD deals with.

I use Vortex, not MO, I almost never do manual installations and didn't in these cases either. I imagine it would be quite a mess to switch between the organizers given that I have a ton of plugins.

I'm re-installing the game to try and fix this. Like I said, I really like the look of things in your mods, but I'm not touching them again until they get some updates to fix these issues.

This is related to other mods or INI settings that some people have an issue with. I don't have this problem in my game, and I haven't been able to make it happen (I've never seen it), so I can't help people fix it.

The textures look great after they pop in, but you have to be quite close for them to do so. Believe me, I wish I could get it working right. Maybe your setup is quite different in terms of the INI or DynDOLOD then?

Ironically, I may end up having to use these mods. I've re-installed the game, re-validated the files, removed every mod I can think of that is related to landscapes, and I still can't get rid of that purple ground texture without using your mods for some reason. I'm not saying the purple was from your mods, but so far, I haven't been able to id a specific cause and nothing else fixes it.

UPDATE: I finally figured out the purple texture. I had forgotten about the Skyrim.ini edit from your Terrain Blending mod. I took that out and the purple went away. I totally forgot about that edit.

It's completely normal for me with just the minimum amount of mods loaded: SKSE, SSE Engine Fixes, BDS 2.11 Definitive Edition, USSEP, Terrain Parallax Blending Fix, Vanilla Complex Parallax series, SSE Engine Fixes, and ENBSeries/CS. Default ultra INIs generated by Skyrim launcher (making sure to disable vanilla snow shader and enable land shadows, as required for parallax). I don't know what some people have going on, but there is something different about what people are running, or they are missing requirements for one of these mods.

As an assist, I use Simplicity of Snow with its parallax meshes and the latest ENB. I have LODGen/TExGen/DynDOLOD settings that match with Step modifications recommendations. Step Skyrim Special Edition Guide (stepmodifications.org)

As I said earlier, I wouldn't expect DynDOLOD to mess with things that are so close, but I noticed that when I was checking for changes with the purple texture issue that I did NOT get the texture pop-in when DynDOLOD was disabled. So that part has to be some difference in settings.

I did still get the missing (as in crayola grey flat color missing - no pop-in) textures missing inside High Hrothgar (stairs, small braziers, floor under rug). The main mod I use there is JK's High Hrothgar. Maybe the textures weren't packaged right?

For the Whiterun area, (where I was seeing the pop-ins on a stone gate, road signs, and farm houses) I use JK's Whiterun Outskirts, and CACO Farm Overhaul.

I just double checked my Skyrimprefs.ini and saw that those settings were now set wrong (glad I checked), but then again, I did re-install the game.

I also use Seasons of Skyrim, and Seasonal Landscapes. I was using the Seasonal Landscapes patch from I'm not a Parallax Hub.

It takes me about 3 hours to re-run the whole LOD/DynDOLOD process for texture changes with the seasonal mods enabled. However, I have some free time and (now that I know what caused the purple texture issue) I am willing to re-run it for testing if there is a better sense of what is going on.  DynDOLOD isn't too long, it's just the LODGen that is a beast.

I downloaded everything again, but haven't run DynDOLOD etc. Just to confirm, I don't see the pop-ins in the areas I saw before when DynDOLOD isn't in use. However, I walked around High Hrothgar a lot more and the missing textures are more extensive than I first noticed. I think it may be an issue with the meshes though, because the problem areas were still grey when I disabled this mod. They look normal if I disable the Vanilla Complex Parallax - Minor Architecture mod.

I figured since the pop-in issue shows up on the architecture, I could probably re-create it without re-running xLODGen. I re-ran TexGen and DynDOLOD without any landscape changes, just the complex parallax textures on the buildings etc. using this mod and the vanilla complex parallax series meshes.

Using my seasonal DynDOLOD settings from STEP, I did still get the pop-in textures. I also checked with a new game and that didn't clear it up either. So, there is definitely an issue with how they are being handled by Texgen and/or DynDOLOD, at least with my settings. I made sure I got all the .INI edits right and also deleted my enbcache folder after making the appropriate enbseries edits before re-starting the game.

I'm gonna go back to my regular textures and my game now (I backed up my files) but hopefully my little bit of testing will help with identifying the exact issue by someone who is better with DynDOLOD than I am.

Remember to disable the vanilla snow shader(bEnableImprovedSnow=0) and enable land shadows(bDrawLandShadows=1) in SkyrimPrefs.ini, these changes are required for parallax.

The issue with distant LOD appearing grey is because bDrawLandShadows is set to 0. Make sure it's set to 1. Textures appearing purple is because you are missing the texture file itself (didn't install a mod correctly or didn't download all of its requirements).

I can't really help you do troubleshooting for your load order any more than giving advice like this. These types of problems (grey, purple textures) are always due to a configuration problem.

bDrawLandShadows is set to 1. I put it at 1 and kept it 1. The texture pop-in does not occur just over a distance. It is for objects that are fairly close as well.

Also, those textures are not missing. As I said, they pop-in when you get very close. the High Hrothgar textures are a separate issue from the pop-in textures.

The issue is related to DynDOLOD somehow, because there is no pop-in when the DynDOLOD plugins are not active. I have my DynDOLOD configured according to the STEP link I provided earlier, so my DynDOLOD settings are not "wrong," they just might be different than yours.

Hello, i think my landscape is messed up...

    https://imgur.com/mGvTrZ1

What could be causing that ugly blending?

I don't use ENB, using Community Shaders with Auto Parallax and Complex Materials addons... Majestic Mountains + Landscape and Water Fixes + Terrain Parallax Blending Fix mods too.

This mod doesn't include parallax for landscape textures, so this is definitely because of a mod or mixture of other mods that you have installed.

Using Community shaders in VR and only works in the terrain.
    I'm doing something wrong???
Do I need to install that for parallax in walls or other objects?

You can get parallax meshes from the Vanilla Complex Parallax mods. Here is a link to one of them, and you can find the rest of them as links in the description or in my profile.

Hey, this looks incredible, looking forward to trying it out, your blending fix mod is a staple in my load order.

I wanted to double check something, am I correct in saying that Complex Parallax should work with BDS v3? So if I use this texture pack/the vanilla complex parallax mods that you have released and say Atlantean Landscapes, BDS v3 should work with every object in the game?

Thank you for all the effort you've put into these mods, it's highly appreciated! 😁

Hi, thank you for using my mods, I continue working on them for folks like you :)

I have switched to using Better Dynamic Snow 2.11 - Definitive Editionas it works with parallax and has some additional features that BDS v3 doesn't have. I'd recommend using that.

Thanks again for the great mods 🙂
