It's a great mod and I definitely don't have a clue how to do shell texturing, but I didn't really like the shape of the tail, so after a few hours in nifskope, I made a couple alternative meshes.
makes the tail longer, with a slight curve upward at the end so it doesn't drag on the ground. There's also some variants to make it more "cartoonishly" long, rather than realistically long.
Also includes a larger version for the Racial Body Morphs mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/65047 since it makes khajiit taller.
The armor in the screenshots is from VickusDickus' Khajiiti Apex Armory: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/17114
The file section contains the main file as well as afew bunch of modifiers that can be installed along with it. Make sure they overwrite the main file in your load order.
Also, does not include the argonian tail from the original mod. Install that mod too if you want the argonian tail too, just make sure this mod overwrites it in your load order.
