This version is mostly a bug fix. Blackface, Blood on the ice, gift giving, etc. There have been multiple bugs reported and I thank some of the mod users for their work in fixing it on their own. I had to incorporate some of their fixes into mine since I didn't know how to do them, so HUGE shout out to Glanzer and ntBlood for doing some of the work for me.
Would love testing and feedback on the issues. I am working on version 4.5 using this cleaned version which will have more features you have requested (Giving the guild back to Brynjolf, quest order, mod compatibilities, etc.)
This new feature is based on the incredible mod, Freedom for Nightingales. Assets used with permission from the mod author!
I have also implemented several bug fixes to hopefully fix some of the issues, including dialogue not showing up, etc.
That being said, as some of you have pointed out, you need to do things in order! I don't know how to fix it to where if you take items ahead of time it won't break the quest. Just follow the questline as it comes to you.
You can get your soul back from Nocturnal now! All you have to do is finish the main TG questline, then once you've become Guild Master, go back to Nocturnal and make her a deal. You will need to have a Dragon Soul available for this option to work as you will exchange one for your soul!
I have also implemented a way to turn off the ability to give gold. You can stop this by speaking to Brynjolf a few quests into the game.
NOTE: When first approaching Brynjolf, make sure to ask "Why are we doing this to Brand-Shei" if you want the more moral option. Once he gives you an answer, then you can say "okay lets get this started" (but only do that when you are outside at the proper time!.
As far as some of the other issues with Honor Among Thieves, I am still working on a few things with that quest. But to prevent you from having issues, here are some essential tips:
For HONOR AMONG THIEVES quest to make sure it goes well, here are some essential tips: 1. Do not install after you have already started the Thieves Guild Quest Line. This apparently makes the new quest buggy. 2. Don't steal or take stuff in Riften unless someone tells you to as part of a quest. Again, Do not pick up the quest items before you have the quest! a. For example, the mod author says if you get the bag of gems in Maven’s house before you have the quest that tell you to, it messes up the quest 3. TALK TO BOTH DELVIN AND VEX BEFORE TAKING ANY JOBS, AND BEFORE READING ANY BOOKS IN THE THIEVES GUILD & The Ragged Flagon! 4. AFTER talking to Delvin and Vex, read the required books and notes in the Thieves Guild--one on the bar, one to the left of the bar, and one on Mercer's desk. 5. Keep watch on your Thieves Guild quest objectives: a. Do them logically in order and b. follow what they say. 6. Do everything you can before becoming Guild master. a. This means doing everything up to and including getting the dirt on a certain someone and speaking to Delvin about it. Once you get the quest log that says "wait for the right time", you can proceed as normal with Thieves Guild Questline 7. Once you become Guild master, go back to Delvin and talk to him. It's the same line of dialogue at first, but new options will appear and you can advance! 8. You will get the option to return to Nocturnal and make her a deal after you have become Guild Master! a. PS For proper immersion, I’d strongly advise waiting to get your soul back until after you find out that you are the Dragonborn 9. Note: It does NOT matter if you side with the Imperials. You can still bring Maven to heel. The dialogue works fine either way.
Bonus Tip: Save your game OFTEN. Particularly before doing anything quest related. Also, you may want to save the game before you speak to each person in the guild. This will all you to go back in case something doesn't work, you screwed something up, or made a wrong dialog choice.
I can't seem to get city favor quests? I've completed like 8 jobs in riften but delvin still just offers me the same ones, unless I'm missing something??
I think the whole Honor Among Thieves quest should have been handled better to prevent all the bugs associated with it, like disabling the important items from appearing until the next logical step in the quest? I was able to complete the quest after becoming Guild Master, but the Windhelm and Markarth parts of it are broken. Also, one wrong dialogue choice and you cannot warn Honningbrew to stop the tasting.
I think the description page should mention the fix for the "No Honor Among Thieves". How was I supposed to know that I should not have read that letter until I proceeded with other quests, and that it actually breaks the questline (hence, it breaks the mod itself) if you read it too soon? Please post the fix on the main / description page, so maybe other folks unlike me will be able to actually enjoy this mod. Thanks!
, you will have the option to emphatically reject him ("No. I'm not interested, and I won't ever be."), which will shut down the Thieves' Guild quest line for good. I accidently said this to Brynjolf 30 hours of game play ago, don't really want to go back that far...is there a setstage I can use to reset this?? Thanks
f*#@ me I thought this was how we stopped the bad guy questline and started the good guy questline. Documentation is for shit. So we're supposed to start being normal bad guy thieves? When does the first dialog or other opportunity to start this mod's content present itself? Why is the main page so unclear as to how I should even begin this content?
since that "destroy the thieves guild" mod is kinda bugged and without voice acting is this the best option for someone that is making a good character?
It would be nice to have an option to disable the guild activities, like, your character goes to the sewers and just say that their thievings days are over, even to Maven...I really wanted to destroy the guild, kill everyone...but that would interfere in the main quest of the game...not a good option...So a option to destroy the guild(but without killing its members, so any quest that needed some npc from the guild could still be done like the main quest, would be a great addition
alongside with this, having someone else to apraise the stones of barenziah would be nice. (there is a mod that does that, but the description of the quest in game is not good)
Interfere with main quest? Which quest are you referencing? I'm quite sure it will interfere with DB questline which is why that destroy the thieves guild create a npc, but I never heard about the main quest will be interfered?
Only other thing I wish we could do is take care of Maven for good... won't give spoilers for anyone coming her to check out the mod for the first time, but if you know, you know.
The talking option for paying the protection money isn't coming up when I talk to Keerava and the others. Is there a simple way to fix this (it was working my previous playthrough, so it's not AE despite this being an older mod than AE).
Update: forgot about the Honor Among Thieves book. Reading through the step-by-step got me the answer
Great mod, I've been using it for a while. I recently rebuilt my mod list focused on the 10th anniversary grey cowl mod. I'm getting the bug where once I enter the cistern, the whole guild treats me as a trespasser and goes hostel. I also have the master thief that appears outside of Riverwood. I don't remember where he comes from, nor how to fix this. Any ideas or help?
I dont know if this works as I am just starting the game with both mods, but a reddit post says you can console command forward to the goldenglow estate quest and it fixes it? "setstage TG02B 0"
So, during this mod's version of Dampened Spirits, we have the option to sabotage Maven and Mallus' scheme and save Honningbrew. Nevertheless, upon returning after the quest, it has been changed to "Black-Briar Meadery West" as though everything progressed as it normally does without the mod. Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
